AKALA Food Search Engine
Akala is a food search Engine helping people with particular food diet to identify food that they eat based on their personalized profile. The application could help alerting the user with the presence of inconvenient ingredients even in a foreign language while traveling. In addition of large data base of products which could be updated by users, Akala includes a large data base of dishes, so he could log the quantity of food he is eating and its nutritional aspects. We are also planning to includes AI based solution to recommend most suitable dishes to eat based on his daily based food consumption.
According to a poll conducted by The Harris, 60% of American have restrict to at least one nutritional component and 87% are making an effort to eat healthy. This could be due health issues(allergies, diabetes, diet,...) personal convictions (Vegeterians, Vegans,...) or religious restrictions (Muslim, Hindo, Jewish,...).
We estimate that at leat 40 percent of the world population will need our solution.
We are serving people who care about their food diet.

We provide a web plateform where the user can create a profile based on his food preference and language to help him identifying potential problem with packaged food he is planning to purchase.

Existing solution do not take consideration of the language barriers and do not cover all cathegories of food restrictions
Our solution solve a real global customer need. We are using crowdsourcing to creat a huge data base of packaged food content as well as food dishes. We are also trying to use AI as well IoT in the form of pocket size weight scale to measure the exact quantity of consumed food and to suggest to consumer which food to eat and at which quantity

I come out with the idea of this project based on personal experience living in Tokyo for seven years. Since I did not master Japanese language I have faced many problem with the other Muslim and Hindo comity members as well as persons suffering from allergies to identify food suitable for us. So I have conducted with a Japanese team a survey to confirm such a need.

We have conducted a pilot on few hundred and now we are preparing for big pilot in Tunisia to analyse allergy problem in partnership ANPR Tunisian research agency, CRNS digital research center in Sfax and CBS Biotechnology research center Sfax
Our goal that our solution reach hundred thousands of potential users within next years in Tunisia, USA, UK, France, Germany and Japan.
Within five years we aims to reach one billion potential users
My main problem is to get enough funding to hire more full time engineers, pay cloud hosting and promote the solution
