Morsel
- Pre-Seed
Morsel- aims to create hyper local communities within different areas of London, working closely with community centres, to create integration hubs tackling social exclusion and isolation which can lead to depression
The BIg Lunch carried out research which showed that 84% of 18-34 year olds claimed to be lonely. It can be quite difficult to meet new people and have a support network around you, when you move to a different place in your 20s where we don’t have the backing of social institutes like schools to go. Not having a close group to confide in or during emergency situations can cause many mental health problems from feeling lonely and isolated to development issues of confidence and personality
This what I hope to achieve:
2017:
6 monthly events beginning June- try and implement pay as you feel model in order to be sustainable
15-20 people at each event (120 over 5 months)
6 different cuisines tried
120 new bonds formed
Launch a book of recipes- to make this sustainable
2018:
Expansion to North West London
2019:
Membership model implementation
Impact report creation
2020:
Presence in 2 other cities
2021:
Community programmes launched
Movements created
This will make a difference in many ways:
Helping people feeling lonely find a way to meet new people, especially if it is a new city to them
Cost effective way to enjoy a nice meal and learning about new cultures
Providing a platform for upcoming chefs to show their talent, by running a cooking class and testing the dishes and getting immediate feedback
Helping the food going from bin to plate by using ingredients that are unsold but still edible enough to eat.
Number of community centres involved in the first 6 months - Integration Hubs
number of events undertaken and community champions assigned via that, who then undertake the event organization - Neighbour connections and Community champions
number of organizations signed on from food supply to volunteer organizations - partnerships with organizations to grow this

- Digital systems (machine learning, control systems, big data)
I have come across http://www.foodhallproject.com/ , they are based in Sheffield and their main USP is inviting everyone at the café to cook from any leftover food is available that day. What differentiates our project is the fact that we will do this once a month have a different theme so people learn one dish from that cuisine and also learn more about that culture in the end publishing a cook book and then developing a tech platform enabling people to run this independently from their kitchens.
Humans are the centre of this technology, it aims to empower people to connect on a location basis, to come and share meals together and also run TEDX style events at comunity centres, where they submit their profiles, can be nominated as community champions, collecting all the data and using behavioural science to present better solutions to them
they technology will be free to use and will be deployed using hyper local model of advertising with on ground partrners such as local super markets, old age centres, refugee centres, homeless centres, libraries.

Corporate Sponsorship
lack of support from the community
lack of a team and volunteers to sustain this
people having a bad experience

this will help me connect with people globally that share the same vision and passion to create an impact, leveraging that support will help to devise solutions I may not be able to think solely
