Photovoltaic solar plants play a crucial role to transform communities’ energy system to renewable energy. Rooftop solar already plays an important role. But because solar energy sources have relatively low geographic density and require large areas, more spaces than rooftops are needed. Using sunny ground spaces can contribute to clean energy production. The average 17% efficiency of solar panels, means 17% of sun irradiation is turned into electricity and does not increase the heat in cities further.

Without clean energy and activating limited spaces in cities to generate emissions-free electricity with solar ground panels, improvement of sustainability of the urban environment, will not be possible.  

Climate change and excess resource depletion is the biggest threat to humans. The transition to net- zero emission society is the biggest challenge of our generation. Rocsun has designed a recyclable and in parts reusable solar ground panel. Solar energy produces no emissions; this improves lives of populations that suffer from bad air quality. The panels can be installed decentralized and therefore increase energy access, micro grid and island projects.

One important motivation for founding Rocsun was and is, to get more women and girls involved in STEM field, particular clean energy. Rocsun therefore participates in events and workshops to explain the technology and offer participation. Installed projects are equipped with an information monitor to educate citizens and inform about energy yield.

Solar ground panels are integrated into the ground and form a power plant that produces clean electricity from sunlight. The Rocsun solar ground panels substitute conventional pavements and can be laid in front of progressive architectural projects.

The technology is based on standard solar cells. These are equipped with a transparent, solid surface and a concrete slab. The installation is easy and quick. Rocsun offers project site analysis, project outline, technical engineering and plant realisation.

The top layer consists of the hardest transparent protection tiles and is beyond state-of-the-art. For the research and development of the slip & slide protection of that tiles Rocsun cooperates with the Fraunhofer-Institute to get a most reliable solution.

Rocsun uses standard solar cells and enables the application in new areas to activate more surface for the production of clean energy.  The material combination and the production process is innovative. 

Rocsun market research questioning landscape architects has shown that pavement slabs that include energy production is in demand, but no solution exists currently. 

Rocsun receives weekly project requests, from customers that do not have other space available for solar power generation, and want to use solar ground panels. 

Independent study by IDTechEX showed solar ground (and lighting) sector will grow to 8 billion dollars in 2028.
