Biz Bride
Fashion industry is the second greatest polluter of freshwater in the world. 80 billion items of clothing are produced yearly leaving 2.5 billion pounds of waste. A single t-shirt takes 2,700 liters of water to make, enough for a person to drink over 2.5 years. And these numbers are increasing exponentially every passing year. We aim to play our part in helping ensure this situation doesn't get worst. Our solution is simple; Give one + Take one = Zero damage+ happy earth and happy us! We want to create a movement in which rather than hoarding clothes people will start sharing their wardrobes with each other helping them revamp their wardrobe without having to punch a hole through their pockets. This way rather than buying new clothes, people will start sharing with each other, decreasing the demand for the production and decreasing the wastage produced by clothing each year.
The idea started with solving a basic problem prevalent in our society, helping brides buy and sell their dresses because every bride dreams of looking her best on her wedding but not everyone can afford that. So we thought why not encourage brides to help make someone else's day special rather than locking their dresses up in the closet. But after that we realized this need is not only limited to bridal wear, it trickles down even to everyday wear where people spend thousands every month on new clothes. There are 44 million women in Pakistan who use E-commerce for apparel buying and selling. We aim to target that market and encourage them to share their wardrobe with those who can not afford designer wear or just those who don't want to invest so much on clothing. The problem tackles at issues like fast fashion and inefficient usage of clothes.
We are serving the 44 million women who actively shop for clothing online and are helping propose a solution in which they can wear their favorite clothes spending half the money. This need was identified by us when we noticed people putting up their dresses for sale and people actively looking to buy these dresses on various buy and sell groups on Facebook. But the issue was that since consumers were directly linked with each other there were a lot of cases of fraud which discouraged this trend from growing.
Further we plan to scale out of Pakistan in time via building our technology platform.
After researching on this gap, we decided to build a platform on which not only can these women easily browse through a large variety of dresses, but also both the buyers and sellers have a surety of no fraud since we are involved in the entire process from the time the dress is put up to the time it's delivered ensuring quality for the buyer and timely payment for the seller.
The solution consists of a web platform where buyers and sellers keeping their anonymity can share dresses and a seller app which will enable woman to share their wardrobe even with minimum technology education.
- Demonstrate business models for extending the lifetime of products
- Pilot
- New business model or process
We are the only ones in the market who are looking at the concept of buying and selling of used clothes from a new social angle. The concept of sharing and the fact that this initiative taken by one person will help protect the Earth from damage is a new perspective to encourage the masses to step up and become a part of this process. Removing the shame from wearing used clothes and converting it into something that is not only acceptable but also socially responsible is something that we focus on. And moreover this way, we are opening an avenue for women who cannot go out to earn money to sit at home and earn for themselves and their family.
So, we are talking about engaging a community of woman who have never done any business to turn their wardrobe into inventory, and then start earning from this and exposing themselves to e-commerce.
The core technology is a web based platform which enables sale and purchases of clothes. This model helps us lower our cost of inventory acquisition as we don't pay anything until the sale is completed. This makes technology extremely important to us to enable this process.
We further are working on a mobile application to make the process of selling dresses easy.
We are further using digital marketing platforms like facebook and instagram to grow our audience.
- Indigenous Knowledge
- Behavioral Design
After thorough research, we found out that currently there is no one who is providing an effective and efficient solution for this problem at hand. People don't have a platform where they can easily put up their dresses for sale or for people looking to buy dresses. There are also cases of fraud that have been reported for such people making such sales online as there is no check and balance. The biggest hurdle we've faced as of yet is to build faith in people that we only sell quality things but the people who did make purchases are very happy and all of them are now our repeat customers. So giving people a platform from which they can easily make the decision to buy used clothes knowing that quality will be ensured is a big problem that we managed to fulfil and by encouraging this behaviour we will eventually manage to solve the bigger problem of pollution and access to quality clothes for the masses.
One of the key things in such a solution is that how well it maps to a user habit and then becomes a part of users life. Hence, we believe our technology's adaptation to the problem and customer segment is what that make us uniquely placed to solve this issue.

Number we will be serving in five years: 5 million
Within the next 5 years, we aim to start a movement and become a part of all developing countries starting with MENA bringing everyone together to solve this one grave problem the repercussions of which are predicted to be grave. Not only that, this will help people develop a source of revenue for their homes helping better the economy in the long run with women opening more bank accounts and money circulating within the nation.
Our focus within the next year is to create an impact within Pakistan and start this circular economy around clothes and impact woman's live to give them exposure with e-commerce business model, online banking and circular economy.
The barriers that we currently face is the lack of acceptance and trust in online shopping. Since this market is not fully developed in Pakistan, to encourage people to put their trust in a new player in the market and that too one selling used clothes is a big hurdle that are still facing but once we develop our name here, I believe in the next 5 years we won't face this issue. Another big hurdle is making the entire process technology driven rather than relying on man power. Because at this moment, we our process from the time of seeking a potential consumer's attention to the point she makes a purchase decision involves the need for that human element more than it should since we aim to scale globally.
To build trust, we aim to give our customers such an exceptional experience that their reviews then drive further sales for us. For the second hurdle, we are planning to install bots and make the entire process of buying so crisp and seamless that people won't feel the need for additional information.
Further we are making our technology very adaptive to our target market so that the resistance towards online shopping exists is decreased.
