Justice Equality & Empowerment
- India
- Hybrid of for-profit and nonprofit
Target Population:
Empowering individuals and communities, especially women, children, and at-risk youth living in impoverished conditions. These include survivors of modern-day slavery, human trafficking, child sexual abuse, and children of commercial sex workers.
Globally, over 50 million people are trapped in modern slavery, with women and children being disproportionately affected. India stands as one of the largest hubs for human trafficking and the sexual exploitation of women and children. Millions of individuals suffer from this heinous crime. While law enforcement agencies and anti-human trafficking organizations can conduct many successful rescue operations, rescues without quality aftercare are futile. It's a waste of resources and effort.
Having worked with survivors of modern-day slavery / human trafficking for over a decade, I have come to understand that every program participant is unique. The abuse and trauma they suffer vary, as does the impact, and so does their need. The ability to cope with the past and the desire to move on differs for each individual based on where they are on the spectrum of being rescued and reintegrated back into society.
Trauma affects every aspect of a person and has numerous adverse effects. The nature of abuse is uniquely and profoundly destructive and requires long-term recovery. Since program participants are all at different stages in their healing journey, their needs are diverse. Therefore, an individualised care plan is necessary for each participant rather than a one-size-fits-all approach that is not effective.
The majority of program participants come from extreme poverty, with minimal access to necessities and education and lacking essential documentation or identity proof, etc. Many are also not proficient in the official language and struggle to provide the necessary information for registration or communication. Therefore, monitoring and tracking their progress with precise details, records, and observations is essential to making well-informed decisions to cater to their unique needs. Above all, securing and protecting their real-time data and information would be extremely necessary and helpful in supporting them effectively. With multiple departments and individuals involved in this process, it is crucial for everyone to be aligned and have access to the same information to serve the program participants efficiently.
We decided to purchase an ERP system to help us achieve the desired outcome. However, we struggled to find one that suited our organisation locally. Limited options are available, particularly in developing countries and continents like Africa, America, Asia and the UAE. As a result, Initially, we had to purchase an expensive ERP from another country with an annual subscription that we could not afford over time. Despite modifying its features, it did not fully meet our requirements.
In addressing this issue, it is our recommendation to leverage emerging and pioneering technology to advance socio-economic justice, equality, and empowerment for survivors of modern-day slavery and to combat human trafficking. This technologically efficient approach will enable a more accurate assessment of the survivors' genuine needs and facilitate the provision of requisite support for their restoration and successful reintegration into society.
When working with survivors of modern slavery, especially human trafficking, it is crucial to safeguard their identities and ensure that we prevent any potential exposure to previous perpetrators or exploiters and offer them the opportunity to be healed, restored and successfully reintegrated as members of the society with love and dignity. Hence, it is the responsibility of the organisation to protect all information of the survivor and the organisation from landing in the wrong hands to avoid any misuse or exploitation. Both technological and human-related risks must be minimized by implementing a secure system restricting access to authorized personnel responsible for survivors' personalized treatment plans.
Securing and protecting survivors' real-time data and information is essential for effectively supporting them in this endeavour. With multiple departments and individuals involved in this process, it is crucial for everyone to be aligned and have access to the same information to serve the program participants efficiently. This is essential for ensuring successful reintegration.
Successful reintegration ensures that program participants are not re-trafficked and can live independently, support themselves and their families, and become equal contributors to society. This will foster a spirit of inclusivity and empowerment designed to yield enduring positive impacts, effecting transformation and making them more receptive and open to change. I firmly believe that even if all combined efforts are made to benefit one survivor, it would still be worth it because it would restore and transform one life and future generations.
Even if this sounds forward-looking and experimental, we propose developing an Efficient Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System that utilises new technologies such as AI and creates a tool to support organisations and advance their efficiency and effectiveness in fighting and weakening the strongholds of human trafficking / modern-day Slavery and ensuring successful reintegration and restoration of program participants.
The ERP system must be reliable, cost-effective, and customisable to meet the unique requirements of each organisation. Serious and intentional Efforts will be needed to effectively communicate and spread the importance and reach of such tools to organizations and communities working in this field among survivors of modern-day slavery, demonstrating how they can significantly improve work and outcomes. This will benefit the organisation and the program participants, leading to the desired healing and restoration outcomes, successful reintegration and combating modern-day slavery.
Ultimately, the overarching objective of Hopeagain is to contribute to advancing socio-economic justice and empowerment, thereby effecting a lasting impact at both national and global levels.
To protect the fundamental human rights of our program's participants, we have established a robust protocol for reporting and addressing any complaints or violations. Despite the advancements in technology, which is now easily accessible to all, available for free downloads, and can be used to improve efficiency, it is often misused to hack data or information, leading to irreversible damage for individuals and organizations. Handling data and sensitive information of survivors and companies is always carries associated risks.
Hopeagain is a for-profit organization offering HR consultation, event and trip management, and counselling and coaching services. As part of our social development division, GATEWAY, we are launching a social enterprise employing survivors and other at-risk individuals and communities.
Currently, we do not use AI technology to manage the data of our program participants. In our previous organization, we used an ERP system and carefully managed access for selected staff who handled this information. We have not experienced any data compromise, leaks, or hacks to date. However, we cannot afford to be complacent about this.
Here is how we have handled other RISK related to survivors and the organisation:
In the past, we have implemented several policies to manage information risk and minimise ethical and organisational risk, particularly when dealing with survivor information used to monitor their progress.
We have put together a committee that handles and escalates any incidents or reports of internal policies and protocol violations to protect the data. As required, the committee escalates the matter to the appropriate authorities for further action. Disciplinary action, including termination of employment or contracts, will be taken as necessary. Some of these policies include:
1. Visitor Policy: This outlines the guidelines for visitors interacting with program participants after obtaining approval from the CEO. The policy covers various interactions, such as exchanging personal information, physical contact, and online communication, to establish healthy boundaries and prevent unforeseen events or situations.
2. Non-Disclosure Agreement: This has been implemented to protect our digital and physical data and any other sensitive and confidential information of program participants. This agreement applies to all staff, third-party vendors, partners, and other stakeholders.
3. Lastly, we have a Social Media Policy in place to ensure the confidentiality of program participants in all communications and publications, both online and offline. This policy promotes guidelines, safety protocols, and best practices for data sharing to improve services while minimizing organizational risks."
The scope of program participants encompasses individuals of diverse ages and backgrounds, with exploitation prevalent across all socioeconomic strata.
India stands as one of the primary conduits for human trafficking and the sexual exploitation of women and children, impacting millions most egregiously. Law enforcement entities and other anti-human trafficking organizations execute numerous successful rescue operations. Yet, the absence of comprehensive aftercare renders these efforts futile, squandering resources and labour.
The provision of post-rescue aftercare services for individuals aged 18 and above remains severely limited, with government-run and alternative shelter homes lacking the requisite resources and capabilities to adequately address the multifaceted needs of program participants following rescue missions. An evident disparity exists between the demand for support and the available provisions. Although strides have been made in criminalizing various forms of modern slavery and advancing victim protection in developing countries such as India, the government struggles to deliver the necessary assistance to numerous trafficking program participants.
Hence, non-profit and private organizations endeavour to bridge this gap by furnishing medical care, education, vocational training, counselling, and other aftercare services and support. By championing education and fostering sustainable employment opportunities for program participants ensnared in Modern-day slavery and abuse, these organizations currently operate within the environs of Mumbai and Maharashtra.
Statistics and extensive research indicate that Mumbai, as the commercial centre of India, bears the highest number of registered trafficking cases. The "Kamathipura" area, also known as the Red Light district, represents a notorious hub for illegal prostitution and sex trafficking. The landscape of trafficking has evolved, extending into prime residential areas.
Globally, over 50 million individuals find themselves ensnared in modern slavery, with one in three victims of human trafficking being children under 18 years of age. Disturbingly, in the absence of safe homes, 80% of survivors fall prey to revictimisation. While several entities are diligently working to raise awareness of modern slavery and mitigate the associated perils of forced labour, an imperative exists for enhanced solutions that furnish survivors with the necessary resources and support to reintegrate and flourish within society. Survivors of modern slavery encounter formidable challenges in reviving their lives, grappling with issues such as alienation, lack of essential documentation, and constrained access to financial resources, safe housing, and employment prospects.
Accurate information equips us with the capacity to comprehend the genuine requirements of survivors, monitor their advancement, and facilitate their development without compromising any potentially problematic information for them or the organization involved. We advocate the creation of a streamlined Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System that leverages advanced technologies to establish a universally applicable ERP infrastructure for all organizations engaged in the fight against contemporary slavery.
This initiative aims to enhance the operational efficiency and effectiveness of these organizations, thereby making considerable strides in combatting modern-day slavery. Furthermore, it will support the successful reintegration and rehabilitation of program participants.
Hopeagain is a successful for-profit organisation that provides various services, including HR consultation, event and trip management, and counselling and coaching. As part of our social development division, "GATEWAY," we embark on a new venture: a Social Enterprise to empower survivors of Modern-day slavery and at-risk individuals and communities by providing sustainable employment opportunities, particularly for those who are not able or interested in pursuing education but rather sustainable employment as being successfully reintegrated. For us, successful reintegration ensures that program participants are not re-trafficked or don't have to return to the old lifestyle. Instead, they can live independently, support themselves and their families, and contribute equally to society like us. This will foster a spirit of freedom, hope, inclusivity and empowerment designed to yield enduring positive impacts, effecting generational transformation and making them more receptive and open to change.
Our dedicated team has been working together for over a decade, focusing on assisting survivors of human trafficking, child sexual abuse, and children of commercial sex workers. This valuable experience has enabled us to propose initiatives to benefit our organization and others working to eradicate modern-day slavery.
We are hardworking and wholly aligned with our organisational goals and the cause. We have received recognition and awards for our work, and our collaborations with other organizations and local authorities have further established our credibility. We are committed to the cause and willing to learn and adapt. We are open to collaborating with individuals, teams, or organizations that can support us in implementing our projects locally and internationally. I am seeking technical support for our team and stakeholders to implement a robust ERP system as part of our strategy to combat trafficking and modern-day slavery. It's crucial to emphasise the importance of safeguarding the sensitive data and information of our beneficiaries and the organization to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands.
Most of us at Hope Again come from backgrounds in social development, counselling, human resources, finance, event management, etc, but not necessarily Information technology.
If we are selected and given the opportunity to implement new technology, we can hire and train additional staff, and I am confident in our ability to deliver successful outcomes.

Hopeagain services include HR consultation, event and trip management, counselling, coaching and Social Development. We are equally dedicated to driving social development by promoting empowerment, self-sustainability, and economic stability for individuals and communities facing impoverished conditions and survivors of violent oppression like human trafficking and abuse. Our focus on skill development, collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity is designed to deliver sustainable positive impacts and effect transformative change in the lives of present and future generations.
In the past, we have carried out numerous awareness campaigns targeting various stakeholder groups and have trained and mobilized individuals to collaborate with us.
Here are a few activities we conducted in the past:

Our team is dedicated to achieving our organizational objectives and upholding our mission. We have garnered recognition and accolades for our exemplary work, and our fruitful collaborations with other entities and local authorities have solidified our standing. We remain steadfast in our commitment to our cause and are ready to acquire new knowledge and adapt to changing circumstances. We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders, individuals, teams, and organizations that can contribute to successfully implementing our initiatives on both local and international fronts.
Our ultimate goal is to promote social justice, equal opportunity, and empowerment and to create enduring change at the national and global levels.
Accurate information equips us with the capacity to comprehend the genuine requirements of survivors, monitor their advancement, and facilitate their development without compromising any potentially problematic information for them or the organization involved. We advocate creating a streamlined Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System that leverages advanced technologies to establish a universally applicable ERP infrastructure for all organizations engaged in the fight against contemporary slavery.
Other Challenges We Face:
It isn't easy to push program participants out of their comfort zones. Due to their past experiences, they often find it difficult to trust new people or strangers, which makes them less open to the support they need from us to make a fresh start. This leads to poor decision-making. We cannot guarantee their commitment even if they agree to participate in education, counselling, employment, or other activities.
Many may give up halfway through or change their minds. On the other hand, some participants expressed that they prefer pursuing employment instead of education. Meanwhile, others have shown resilience by pursuing higher education, moving on despite their past experiences and trauma, and understanding the importance of economic empowerment and sustainability. Irrespective we respect and support their decision-making.
Social stigma plays a significant role, especially in developing countries like ours. Gender roles, potential rejection by family, and being viewed as unfit for marriage due to being perceived as "damaged" are just a few examples. Therefore, the presence of a supportive community is crucial.
The primary goal of social development is to promote and improve human well-being, addressing basic and complex needs. Social work involves understanding individual behaviour, societal functioning, and the ability to connect with people to find solutions to problems. It is a practical profession that fosters social change and empowers individuals and communities.
To achieve the above we extend an invitation and express our interest in engaging with organizations, teams, and other stakeholders who are aligned with our vision, enthusiasm, trust, and common goals to collaborate and form partnerships in this initiative. Our foremost priorities include collaboration and the preservation of the safety and security of survivor and organizational data. We are committed to emphasizing the mitigation of risks associated with survivor and organizational data as a fundamental component of our multifaceted approach to combatting contemporary slavery.
The team at Hope Again possesses a wealth of experience in social development, counselling, human resources, and related domains. While our technical expertise may be limited, we are devoted to continual learning and open to collaboration with individuals, teams, or organizations that can assist in delivering, implementing, and pioneering the initiative.
We plan to work with an expert team to guide us until we can operate independently. Additionally, we intend to hire qualified staff to oversee the project and support our team.

Our ultimate goal is to promote social justice, equal opportunity, and empowerment for survivors and create lasting national and global transformation.
- Human Capital (e.g. sourcing talent, board development)
- Product / Service Distribution (e.g. delivery, logistics, expanding client base)
- Public Relations (e.g. branding/marketing strategy, social and global media)
- Technology (e.g. software or hardware, web development/design)
Target Population:
Organisations, Individuals/communities, and all stakeholders involved in abolishing modern-day slavery and combating human trafficking. Our combined efforts can certainly dent this social upheaval and exploitation of the vulnerable.
To protect the fundamental human rights of our program's participants, we have established a robust protocol for reporting and addressing any complaints or violations. If alternate options are available in the market that are tried and tested and have yielded positive results in the mentioned area, then I would certainly want to learn more about them. However, the needs of survivors and every organisation are different; building solid walls for data security must be considered when developing ERP systems. It must also allow any modification for the organisations according to their individual needs to ensure data safety and security without being compromised.
We, as an organisation, are committed to collaborating with individuals, teams, or organizations that can support us in implementing our projects locally and internationally.
In dealing with such a significant philanthropic goal and involving numerous stakeholders, it is advisable to utilise the latest innovative technology to promote social and economic justice, equality, and empowerment for survivors of modern-day slavery and to end human trafficking. Incorporating technologically advanced approaches will allow for a more accurate assessment of the genuine needs of the survivors and facilitate the provision of essential support for their recovery and successful reintegration into society.
I propose developing an advanced Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System that utilizes cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), to create a robust tool to enhance organizational efficiency and efficacy in combating contemporary slavery without compromising their data/information or the organisations and the stakeholders serving them.
After directly working with survivors of trafficking and violent oppression for over a decade, I've realized that each participant in modern-day slavery/human trafficking is different and has different needs that cannot be addressed using a cookie-cutter model of treatment plan. The abuse and trauma they face vary, as does the impact. Every individual's ability to cope, overcome and move forward is different, depending on where they are in the journey of being rescued, restored and reintegrated into society.
Trauma affects every aspect of a person and has numerous adverse effects. The nature of abuse is profoundly destructive and requires long-term recovery. Serious and intentional efforts will be needed to spread awareness, effectively communicate the importance of this tool, and expand the reach to organizations, communities, and all stakeholders working among survivors of modern-day slavery. This will demonstrate how they can significantly improve work and outcomes, benefitting the organizations and the program participants while pursuing a bigger goal of ending modern-day slavery. It will lead to the desired healing and restoration outcomes, successful reintegration for survivors, and the protection of organisation data.
Our Team at Hope Again possesses extensive experience in social development, counselling, human resources, and related fields. While our proficiency in technical matters may be limited, we are steadfast in our commitment to continual learning and receptive to collaboration with individuals, teams, or organizations capable of contributing to our initiatives for the successful development, delivery, training, and implementation of these initiatives. We will put a team of trained personnel responsible for training other stakeholders, individuals, and organizations.
Impact Goals: RESTORING LIVES FROM CAPTIVITY TO FREEDOM
"We Envision a World Free of Violence, Oppression, and Slavery."
Although Hopeagain is a for-profit organization, we are committed to being part of the solution to combat modern-day slavery and end human trafficking.
Our team has been working with survivors of human trafficking, child sexual abuse, and second-generation prevention for over a decade. We have learned valuable insights, challenges, and successes; moreover, we successfully provided quality aftercare for over 150 program participants. With the previous organisation, we successfully reintegrated more than 70 survivors. This has enabled us to propose suggestions that benefit our organisation and others working for the exact cause and expecting the same results.
Before officially launching the product, we must run a pilot project to test the product's performance and success. This will help us measure the system's success and reliability, indicating the results for any modification, alterations and any other requirement to meet our combined goal. We are looking for partners and funders who are dedicated to the cause and trust in this initiative. Collaboration and ensuring safety and security are crucial. Ultimately, we aim to minimize the risk of survivor data and be part of the solution to eradicate modern-day slavery.
Hopeagain is actively seeking partners and funders who are dedicated to our cause and believe in this initiative. Collaboration and ensuring safety and security are our top priorities. We also strive to minimize the risk of survivor data and be part of the solution to eliminate modern-day slavery.
Our team is highly dedicated, hardworking, and united in our organizational goals. Our work has been acknowledged locally and internationally, facilitating collaboration with other organizations. We have partnered successfully with them and gained credibility with them, the government, and other local authorities.
We require financial, technical, and support assistance and expertise in legal, marketing, cultural awareness, demand generation, and raising public awareness.
Even the idea of being part of the solution to create and implement a new ERP to end Modern-day slavery is very rewarding and worth pursuing. I am confident in our ability to deliver positive outcomes.
Our combined experience working with survivors and our commitment to continuous learning give us an upper hand in taking up and leading this project. We are open to collaborating with individuals, teams, or organizations that can assist in development, testing, marketing, demand creation, training and distribution, and delivering and implementing the initiative.
The Hopeagain team members come from diverse educational and professional backgrounds. Although we are confident in our ability to take on and complete the project, we recognize the need for additional technical expertise to develop the product. We intend to provide the necessary input and have sought support from other organisations with similar goals.

Incorporating technologically advanced approaches will allow for a more accurate assessment of the genuine needs of the survivors and facilitate the provision of essential support for their recovery and successful reintegration into society.
While most individuals at Hope Again have backgrounds in social development, counselling, human resources, finance, and event management, our current approach does not involve using AI technology to manage program participant data.

Here is the list of people that work with us on our projects:
1. Full-Time Staff - 8
2. Part-Time - 10
3. Contractors - 6
4. Third-Party Vendors - Depending on the requirement
We are in the process of hiring more staff for our current and future projects.
In our previous organisation, I used other ERP systems from a vendor in a different continent; very expensive and ineffective in meeting our organisational needs to maintain records, generate information, and generate reports. We also developed an in-house ERP system, which also turned out to be ineffective. My team and I have over ten years of experience working with ERP systems for trafficking survivors.
The proposed model can be considered a new initiative that offers a solution different from what is currently available for meeting the survivors' and organisations' needs when dealing with sensitive data and information without being compromised.
Our team has been dedicated and worked together for over a decade, focusing on assisting survivors of human trafficking, child sexual abuse, and children of commercial sex workers. This experience has enabled us to propose initiatives to benefit our organization and others working to eradicate modern-day slavery. We are united, collaborative, focused and FUN to work with. We believe in celebrations, don't give up, and are lifelong learners. Differences of opinion don't stop us as long as our goal remains the same. We have experience working with International teams and organisations from other continents and countries for decades and have successfully delivered the desired results. We have travelled internationally on multiple occasions for work and adapt quickly. All our staff are experienced and sound in written and spoken English and can effectively express their thoughts, ideas and suggestions.
Most of us at Hope Again come from backgrounds in social development, counselling, human resources, finance, event management, etc., but not necessarily Information Technology; however, that is not something that would hinder the project in any way. We are committed to the cause and are willing to learn and adapt. We are open to collaborating with individuals, teams, or organizations that can support us in implementing our projects locally and internationally.
I am seeking technical support for our team and stakeholders to implement a robust ERP system as part of our strategy to combat trafficking and modern-day slavery. It's crucial to emphasize the importance of safeguarding the sensitive data and information of our beneficiaries and the organization to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands.
Our team is highly dedicated, hardworking, and completely aligned with our organizational goals. We have received widespread recognition and awards for our work, and our collaborations with other organizations and local authorities have further established our credibility.
I'd like to propose developing an efficient enterprise resource planning (ERP) system that integrates cutting-edge technologies such as AI. This system aims to help organisations improve their efficiency and effectiveness in addressing human trafficking and modern-day slavery. The ERP system must be reliable, cost-effective, and adaptable to meet the specific needs of each organisation. Efforts will be needed to effectively communicate the importance and benefits of these tools to organisations, communities, and survivors of modern-day slavery. Showing how these tools can significantly improve work and outcomes will be essential, benefiting both the organisations and the program participants.
Successful reintegration of survivors will help prevent re-trafficking and empower them to live independently, support themselves and their families, and actively contribute to society. The primary goal of this initiative is to contribute to advancing socio-economic justice and empowerment at both the national and global levels.
Since this initiative is new, we seek partners and funders dedicated to the cause who will come alongside us to help us with all the phases from pre-production, present and post-production design, development, market research, training, delivery, revenue model, pricing, etc. and any other support necessary. Collaboration and ensuring safety and security are key. We also aim to minimize the risk of survivor data and be part of the solution to eradicate modern-day slavery..
- Organizations (B2B)
