The specific problem we are solving is the lack of access to critical resources, support services, and community connection for survivors of modern slavery, hindering their ability to rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society.
Scale of the problem:
- Globally, over 50 million people are trapped in modern slavery, with women and children disproportionately affected (ILO, 2022).
- In Nigeria, where our organization is based, modern slavery is prevalent, with reports of widespread human trafficking and forced labor (US Department of State, 2022).
- Survivors of modern slavery face significant barriers to accessing essential resources, including legal, financial, physical, psychological, and social support (UNODC, 2020).
Factors contributing to the problem:
- Limited access to technology and digital resources, exacerbating isolation and disconnection (ITU, 2020).
- Insufficient support services, including trauma-informed care, legal assistance, and economic empowerment opportunities (UNODC, 2020).
- Stigma, shame, and fear of retaliation, leading to silence and disconnection from community and support networks (Survivor testimonies, 2022).
Our solution, CivicCare Network, addresses these factors by providing a secure online platform for survivors to access resources, support services, and community connection, empowering them to rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society.

- Lack of access to resources: Limited awareness and availability of support services, especially in rural areas.
