We provide artificial intelligence (AI) powered education platform to intellectually gifted but disadvantaged learners leveraging ongoing digitalisation efforts across Malawi.
In Malawi, young people face significant barriers to accessing education, including a shortage of teachers, inadequate teaching and learning materials, insufficient classrooms, and the prevalence of child marriages. Efforts to bring them back to school have often been hindered by systemic challenges. For instance, a 12-year-old girl rescued from early marriage struggling with basic arithmetic might be ridiculed by her peers, forcing her out again. To address these issues, our platform offers AI-powered personalized tutorials to help dropout students prepare for exams and/or reintegrate into the formal education system.
Ai4Tutorials is a pioneering learning platform that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to transform the way education is delivered to out-of-school youth in Malawi. By leveraging AI, we enable a few educators to effectively reach and teach a large number of learners, addressing the challenge of teacher shortages and making educational resources more accessible. Our goal is to help intellectually capable but out-of-school young people regain their educational footing and prepare for various examinations to earn certifications, thereby enhancing their opportunities and societal engagement.
Here is how Ai4Tutorials facilitates this:
1. Voice Calls: We offer lessons via voice calls, allowing students to learn through real-time interactions with educators. This method is particularly beneficial for those without advanced technology or stable internet connections, ensuring that everyone has the chance to learn using just a basic mobile phone.
2. WhatsApp Chat: Utilizing the popular messaging app WhatsApp, our platform delivers interactive educational content. Students can ask questions, receive answers, and engage with study materials through text and audio messages, making learning both accessible and convenient.
3. Webchat: For those with internet access, our webchat feature provides a comprehensive learning experience. Students can participate in text and audio conversations, access multimedia educational materials, and take part in interactive quizzes directly through our website.
4. Downloadable PDFs: Recognizing the intermittent nature of internet connectivity, we also provide downloadable PDFs. These files contain all necessary educational materials, allowing students to download them when online and study offline at their convenience.
Our AI technology plays a crucial role in personalizing the learning experience. It analyzes each student’s interactions and progress to tailor the educational content to their specific needs and learning pace. This personalized approach ensures that each learner is equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully pass their exams and obtain certifications.
Overall, Ai4Tutorials is more than just an educational tool; it is a gateway for out-of-school youth to reclaim their educational opportunities and achieve their full potential. By making learning flexible and accessible, we help these young individuals prepare for their future, empowering them to contribute effectively to their communities and the broader society.
