Is for every growing child to see a future knowing they can make a difference in their lives and their community by making positive life decisions and choices. Equip and empower our youth with the necessary coping mechanisms so they can be better prepared to proceed mentally, confidentially, and academically in a healthy social and diverse environment.
Rescue A Young Life remains steadfast in our commitment to infuse every step of our journey with goals that are not only driven but radiate positive energy. Our core objective is to ensure that each and every child we reach, is filled with hope and faith, firmly believing in their capacity to overcome adversities.
We aim to enlighten participants on the comprehensive aspects of educating a child, providing a holistic understanding that encompasses academic, social, and emotional development.
Our programs aim to provide youth and young adults a start to a better
understanding of their mental strengths and in turn, allow them to
identify their strengths and not fall victim to Alcohol, Gangsterism, Drugs,
and Young Pregnancy. We need to break the repetitive chains/shackles in their community.

Bronwyn Newman serves as the Team Leader and Founder of Rescue A Young Life, bringing with her a deep passion and unwavering commitment to supporting underprivileged youth. Her tireless efforts in underprivileged schools have made a profound impact, focusing on instilling motivational change and holistic development in each child.
As the backbone of the organization, Bronwyn spearheads the design and implementation of learning and holistic programs tailored to accommodate the unique needs of every individual child. Her leadership ensures that Rescue A Young Life remains dedicated to its mission of providing support services to young people dealing with anxiety, depression, bullying, and other life challenges.
Bronwyn's vision and dedication drive the organization forward, inspiring positive change and making a lasting difference in the lives of those it serves. Her leadership serves as a guiding light for the entire team, motivating them to continue their vital work in uplifting communities and empowering young minds.
Our team is first-hand, filled with life experiences and how given a second chance for change and employment has allowed them growth and better living. Our teams unquestionable knowledge and experience gives the youth and learners a sense of understanding, and realistic approach to trust and truth.
This has a driven burning passion to make a difference in young minds and understanding when addressing the needs of both children and parents, that they were once broken and lost in society and can make a change.
We equip and empower youth to assist them in managing behaviour, adolescence, awareness developments though programmes that build resilience and coping skills
Understanding that discipline and respect challenges should be addressed differently, we propose, the holistic approach for undisciplined children. Instead of expulsion, removal out of the class or sent home, they will engage in RAYL's classes, coupled with counseling managed by RAYL to promote appreciation and care.
Implementing strategic actions that favour the promotion of mental health, the prevention of mental disorders and providing sufficient resources. Develop a stronger support system for the children and schools in poverty-stricken communities.
By doing so, we aim to equip them with the tools needed to identify and harness these strengths, thereby steering clear of the destructive paths often associated with issues such as Alcohol, Gangsterism, Drugs, and Young Pregnancy.
Rescue A Young Life is currently in need of funding to acquire a mobile class, envisioned to serve dual purposes as both a library and a Mental Wellness class. This innovative space will provide a dedicated environment for nurturing academic growth and supporting mental well-being, creating a holistic learning resource for the benefit of our community's youth. Your generous contributions will help us establish a transformative space that contributes to both education and mental health initiatives.
With your assistance, we can kick off 2024 with a burst of excitement, demonstrating to the Parkwood community that endless possibilities await the children who attend school, empowering them to learn, read, and achieve success.
Students will showcase their diligent efforts in dance, art, poetry, and storytelling, reflecting on their lives before and highlighting the transformative impact that Rescue A Young Life has had on them

Rescue A Young Life is not only committed to offering crucial support services but also extends a compassionate hand through free face-to-face counseling for youth on a weekly basis. Our organization, founded by Director Bronwyn Newman on December 22, 2016, was inspired by a deeply personal experience with loss and suicide.
Bronwyn shares, "My son Rayél tragically lost his life to suicide at the age of 14. Despite being a healthy academic and a scholarship recipient at a private school, he played baseball for Battswood Club, and actively participated in church and gardening upliftment programs. His sudden loss shook our lives profoundly, exposing the fragility of hope and self confidence."
Motivated by this heartbreaking experience, Bronwyn delved into global research on teen suicide, discovering a stark absence of dedicated classroom support for issues like Bullying, Depression, and Anxiety affecting young lives as early as 9 years old. The alarming statistics revealed that children as young as 10 are succumbing to the pressures of drugs, alcohol, and suicide.
During her research and counseling of youth, Bronwyn observed that her son, Rayél, saw every underprivileged child as a friend, demonstrating kindness, support, forgiveness, and love indiscriminately. This revelation became her life's purpose — to share her son's love and kindness by rescuing young lives.
Rescue A Young Life has navigated numerous challenges, continually reevaluating how to be a more impactful force for positive change in uplifting scholars in impoverished communities. Through introspection and resilience, we have rediscovered our forward-thinking purpose. Our renewed focus includes a commitment to campaign more and provide
increased support under the guiding principles of "I THINK, THEREFORE I AM" and "WISE UP & RISE UP ON MENTAL WELLNESS."
This strategic shift is poised to evolve into a robust and financially sustainable support system for children and schools in poverty-stricken communities. As we move forward, our goal is to build a stronger, more positive impact on the lives of those who need it most.
According to a report by Statistics SA (Stats SA 2022), close to 3% of 15 year olds and nearly 9% of 17 year olds dropped out of school in 2021. In South Africa 9% of all teen deaths are caused by suicide.
Looking at the available evidence it is clear to see that the state of the country’s mental well being is in severe crisis. To add to the crisis, the government is battling to provide sufficient services to address the influx of sufferers and families are not financially equipped to deal with this illness. We need to ask ourselves a question “Are we doing enough to save our children?”
We need to spread the message of HOPE, for Out of the Darkness there is Light and in that light we will find HOPE. RAYL wants to be that beacon of light.
Our Goal - To save as many lives as possible by changing the mindset of the youth
