Solution Pitch

The Problem

ʻĀinaQuest seeks to address the disconnect between people and plants, often called "plant blindness." Hawaiʻi is home to over 1,000 endemic plants found nowhere else in the world, but many of us are unable to differentiate these from the over 6,000 non-native and invasive plants species in our islands.

The Solution

ʻĀinaQuest is a fast-paced game that makes learning about native plants fun and exciting!

The goal of the game is to cultivate a diverse ahupuaʻa full of native and canoe plants and the least amount of invasive plants. Players will swap resources and “seeds” until all cards are “planted,” then add up their points and subtract any invasive plants that infiltrated their ʻāina. Whomever has the most points at the end of 3 rounds wins the game!

But the fun doesn't stop there! Our vision includes creating a mobile app to take players on a real-life ʻĀinaQuest. Imagine exploring your neighborhood, scanning plants and unlocking their secrets and moʻolelo (stories). It's like a real-life treasure hunt for nature lovers!

So come play with us! With your support, we can expand ʻĀinaQuest globally, making learning about native plants fun and accessible for everyone.
