Tekeya - Food Waste Mobile Application
- Reduce food waste. Recent study shows the consumers in North America and Europe waste about 209 to 253 pounds of food per person every year. This costs the average family of four roughly $600 a year.
- The behavior of the consumers is main issue. Another study shows that around 40 percent of U.S. food goes uneaten, the equivalent of $165 billion wasted each year according to a report recently released by the Natural Resources Defense Council [PDF].
- Globally, one-third of the food produced for human consumption is lost, about 1.3 billion tons.
- Tekeya’s vision is to become a world leading platform that brings together all stakeholders involved across the Food Value Chain, from Public Institutions, NGO’s, Charity Organisations to Privately held Businesses, towards a more sustainable society.
Waste Food - Zero hunger
Egypt is an emerging growth market with a total population size of 100 million in 2019 and estimated to grow by about 10% to 106mio by 2022*. The age group from 0 - 25 years old represent 75% of the total population.
Egypt is one of the biggest food wasters in the world, representing 73kg per of food wasted per person per year. Not only does the waste of food create a burden on the environment through CO2 emissions but equally it leaves providers with excess food, a loss of potential income and consumers without meals they could have enjoyed.

Tekeya will focus on organizing excess food by connecting Food Providers to Food Consumers and creating an online platform, using the TeKeya application.

The Tekeya app will create a platform to upload their excess food, sell it at a reduced price and reach new customers with each meal presented.

Will offer what they have on our Application. If we did not offer him service such as our application. He/she will throw the Food as garbage.
Therefore, Tekeya is saving extra food or near to expire to have a place in the waste. That mean reduce the volume of waste.
The consumer:
They will recieve the extra food and provide it to other people or take it. It will be with low price comparing with market price or for free.

After launching our app with a month, we reached 230 meals sold to individuals or provided to the charity organizations
Our Target this year is to reach 2,000 meals, while building a database and introducing the new concept of buying and selling leftover food, or donating it, and changing the mindset of people, while raising awareness about minimizing food waste.
Tekeya will stay as a charity organization in 2019, as it’s the building phase, then our revenues will be from commissions of the food sold, and the advertising banner in the app, and on our social media platforms.
