Angola produces approximately 8  million tons of waste per year this is why Menos Lixo is committed to solving the solid waste problem in Angola. Menos Lixo is an online platform that allows individuals to find recycling companies where they can recycle, donate and monetize off of their waste material online. Thus reducing pollution, unwanted illnesses, waste and providing an income for the less fortunate. We mapped out various Eco friendly garbage dumps in Luanda and events such as the TEDX that took place in Luanda in 2018. There are various services that individuals may find at Menos Lixo such as cleaning companies, garbage collection companies and Eco stores. We aim to reduce the ecological footprint in Luanda and strengthen our national economy by exporting our recyclable waste material to developed countries that have a developed recycling market.

The problem that Menos Lixo aims to resolve is to reduce solid waste, recycle and help individuals monetize off of it. According to reports from Angop Angola produces 6000 tones of solid waste per day  and according to reports from the World counts approximately 2 billion tons of solid waste is dumped per year.Reports from the World Bank states that over 90% is often disposed in unregulated dumps or openly burned.The lack of poor waste disposable methods contributes to an unhealthy and toxic environment for individuals to live in. Water supply sources can be affected, individuals may be affected by unwanted illnesses for example organic domestic waste poses a serious threat, since they ferment, creating conditions favorable to the survival and growth of microbial pathogens. Many communities are affected by waste pollution one of the main causes is the poor infrastructure of disposing of waste in particular in poor Sub Saharan countries. According to the Trends In Solid waste Management only 44 percent of waste is collected in the Sub-Saharan area.

Menos Lixo is a platform that works with individuals from all walks of life but we work directly with individuals from low income backgrounds. The fact is that the less fortunate live in extremely harsh conditions in Angola and have a very difficult time disposing off of their waste due to the poor lack of disposable infrastructure. Many times garbage collection trucks take weeks to collect  waste from remote areas hence Menos Lixo aims to help individuals from low income backgrounds by educating individuals about the importance of recycling, separating their waste and monetizing off of it. This will be a great benefit for poor communities in Angola environmentally, socially and economically. The way we have been demonstrating our work thus far is by having workshops and showing individuals how to separate their waste, how they can use recyclable goods for decoration purposes, cleaning up areas that have a lot of solid waste and setting up recycling bins at festivals and local events that take place in Angola.

The solution that Menos Lixo is providing is to reduce the amount of solid waste that is produced in Luanda by helping individuals recycle and monetize off of it. The way we have started doing this is by creating our website www.menos-lixo.com where individuals may access and are required to insert the quantity of waste collected, the weight of solid waste collected, their contact details and their location. There are various waste materials that individuals may bring to Menos lixo such as paper, aluminum and plastic just to name a few. Each individual is then compensated for the solid waste material that they have brought to Menos Lixo per kilogram. We utilize our social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram as mediums to help reach out and get in touch with individuals whom have  huge amounts of solid waste materials in their homes but do not know how to dispose off of it.

Menos Lixo offer a innovative solution due to the fact that Angola is still a developing country and there are very few organizations that provide services that Menos Lixo is providing. We are a platform that facilitates the recycling process for individuals  and companies. Menos Lixo is a platform that allows individuals to communicate and interact with cleaning companies, garbage collection companies and environmental associations online as well as educating the importance of separating solid waste materials.

For now, we have an offline network that consists in helping people to give their recycling materials to reclycling companies. We use to help them with the transportation issue. We are working on a way that people can upload photos, of the material they have at home or work, at our website then recycling companies will interact direct to those people.

We expect that Menos Lixo will address this problem accordingly because we work directly with the individuals who need to help with reducing the amount of solid waste in their communities. By educating them on how to separate their solid waste, how they may monetize off of it and how it is beneficial for the environment. Thus reducing unemployment in poor remote areas and creating a form of income for individuals from poor economic backgrounds.

For now we are serving less than 50 entities. in a year we´ll be serving 5.000

By next year we would like to provide our services to 10 festivals at leas.

And have a huge database of recurrent users, 100.000 active users at least.

We are building a solution from the ground with our own funds. We need to connect recycling companies and garbage producers, in a great simple way by using a website, our develop team is around 3 persons only. Angola has not great waste management policies. But we still doing our part.

Once we can show to a great amount of the Luanda Citizens that there is a recycling market growing, that the waste we produce can have a commercial value, the government will feel obligated to look to this as a diversification economy income.

Menos Lixo is a team that consists of 12 working individuals 10 who work part time and 2 who work full time.

Menos lixo is has the best team to deliver this solution due to the fact that in Angola there are not many companies that help with the reduction of waste and creating employment and an income for the less fortunate. In the same breath it helps individuals get in touch, find and communicate with companies that recycle a particular waste materials. Our team consists of dynamic individuals who are have exceptional communication skills hence we have managed to partner up with event companies and set up our recycling bins at their events. We have been able to set up workshops in order to educate individuals about the importance of recycling and it's benefits to our environment.

Menos Lixo is currently partnering up with Yungo.ao, an eco friendly store, so we can advice people to get reusable itens instead of one time using ones. Loxrecicla, is the one who provide us ecofriendly garbage bins so we can set them at festivals and other type of events. Ambireciclo is where we send used fright oil when a contact of us have it and want to throw away, ambirreciclo produce soap with it. Lixo Zero Angola is our environmental educational program in which we educate individuals on the importance of reducing solid waste in their communities. 

All the solid waste has a value at Menos Lixo, we allow people to sell or buy reusable or recyclable materials and we take 20% from each transaction. 

By giving the maximum exposure to companies which buys solid wast or provide environmental services we can charge advertisement. The same happens when we give that exposure to eco friendly stores.

Menos Lixo is applying to solve due to the simple fact that we would like to have an influential impact around the world and in our country. Unfortunately we lack in funding in order to help us with logistics.
