TECH-4-AGRICDEV, ’Technology For Agricultural Development’ a free peer-to-peer service platform that enables Small scale farmers in Nigeria to share information via free SMS using any mobile phone, without the internet and without having to leave their farm.

The food supply in this world is actually more than enough to feed every soul both dead and alive. the only reason why we still face a problem of food challenge is just because of one thing: "lack of vital information"

In Nigeria alone, Every year about $13 million worth of produce is lost on the ground due to lack of vital information and answers to easily solved problems. Small-scale farmers who form about Eighty Percent of farmers in the country are highly vulnerable and are mostly affected by this challenge. Hence this project: TECH-4-AGRICDEV, ’Technology For Agricultural Development’ a free peer-to-peer service platform that enables Small scale farmers in Nigeria to share information via free SMS using any mobile phone, without the internet and without having to leave their farm. Farmers can ask variety of questions on farming and receive crowd-sourced answers from other farmers around the country in minutes.

Most of the food supply to the urban areas usually comes from the Small scale farmers from the rural region. Unfortunately, in Nigeria most rural farmers are illiterates and have no access to the internet but it is thought that around 90% have access to basic mobile ‘feature’ phones.  TECH-4-AGRCDEV is an SMS-based peer-to-peer knowledge sharing platform that can be accessed using a basic mobile phone

TECH-4-AGRICDEV users can share and access vital information that will improve their livelihoods through minimizing wastages, increasing crop yield, diversifying farming practices, creating micro businesses, and increasing household incomes.

when a person is not informed, the he becomes deformed. generally, as human beings, we suffer and pay for our ignorance. Now here is the simple logic: the urban dwellers have all the facilities and logistics for effective communication but the rural dwellers where the main food supply comes from are not adequately empowered. Tech-4-AgricDev is here to bridge that gap. it is completely free and does not need any smart phone or the use of internet. once this gap is bridged, the all forms of deformity is defeated.

our target are mainly rural farmers who do not have access to smart phones but the overall impact will be the general population.

Users sign up for free sending an SMS to a national short-code number.  The user then registers their name, and can ask a question by sending an SMS to the TECH-4-AGRICDEV number. TECH-4-AGRICDEV back-end scans the message for keywords and quickly sends it out to people in the local area that it thinks might have an answer

what makes the solution so novel is the fact that:

TECH-4-AGRICDEV users can share and access vital information that will improve their livelihoods through minimizing wastages, increasing crop yield, diversifying farming practices, creating micro businesses, and increasing household incomes.

By sharing information users will also build up a bank of agricultural knowledge that can benefit isolated farmers around the developing world

Users sign up for free sending an SMS to a national short-code number.  The user then registers their name, and can ask a question by sending an SMS to the TECH-4-AGRICDEV number. TECH-4-AGRICDEV back-end scans the message for keywords and quickly sends it out to people in the local area that it thinks might have an answer. Profiles are built up over time, so if someone answers a lot of questions about Planting Cassava, they might be labeled as a Cassava Pro. "The platform itself is all based online but 95-odd percent of the users are completely offline

we plan to do a lot of sensitization program as well as capacity buildings and workshops mostly for the rural farmers where we will practically teach them how to register and also how the solution works. the National short code number will be publicized on radio, TV and also newspaper so that everyone can register for free. 

TECH-4-AGRICDEV/TECH-4-LONGLIFE plans to partner with local, national, and possibly international companies who want to increase sustainability and transparency in their supply chains and access isolated farming markets. FADAMA III PROJECT (Ondo State chapter), Agricultural Development project (ADP), and Ondo State Health Services (OSHS) are almost a done deal.

In other developments too, Apps such as TECH-4-AGRICDEV and TECH-4-LONGLIFE can also be designed for multinational companies who wants to carry out a survey about an existing product or a new product from all their customers throughout the world without them having to be connected to the internet or use a smart phone.
