While Kilmi Online & Hundred Arab Readers Initiative officially launched in 2019, the challenging circumstances in Lebanon have necessitated significant dedication and perseverance from our team. Thus, we have been actively working on our solution for approximately three years, continuously refining and improving our platform to address the critical issue of very low reading time in the Arab world.
Even with a small team, diversity, equity, and inclusion are fundamental values that we prioritize in our organization. While our team consists of three members—two males and one female—we are committed to fostering an environment that celebrates diversity and promotes inclusivity.
Despite our size, we recognize the importance of diversity in perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds. Our team embraces the unique contributions and strengths that each member brings to the table, fostering a culture of collaboration and mutual respect.
As we continue to grow, our goals for diversity, equity, and inclusion include actively seeking opportunities to diversify our team, ensuring that our hiring processes are inclusive and equitable, and providing ongoing training and support to create a welcoming environment for all team members.
Our business model is straightforward yet robust.
We are currently operating on a transactional basis, we are currently taking a 20% commission on each purchase made through the 100 Readers online bookstore. Additionally, we are currently taking additional 10% from authors when promoting their works.
Furthermore, we introduce an 'Institutional Subscription' model (it will be available soon), priced at $100 per subscription. This subscription grants schools, institutions, and organizations the ability to host unlimited reading events, along with access to a curated selection of 100 e-books added to their e-library every month.
To complement these revenue streams, we’ll be offering an advertising system tailored for educational organizations. They can bid for advertisements on our discussion platform, providing targeted exposure to our engaged audience. Readers also have the opportunity to monetize their contributions. They can choose to allow advertisements on their pages, with earnings tied to their membership level. More active and engaged readers receive badges, granting them a higher percentage of ad revenue. For instance, contributors with higher levels of engagement may receive 60%, 70%, or even 80% of the ad revenue.
This dual revenue model not only ensures sustainable income for our platform but also incentivizes quality contributions from our readers, reinforcing our commitment to fostering an enriching and rewarding reading community.
- Individual consumers or stakeholders (B2C)
Our financial sustainability plan for KilmiOnline & Hundred Arab Readers Initiative has evolved alongside our growth trajectory. Initially, we relied on personal savings and revenue generated from the 100 Arab Readers Initiative, leveraging commissions from transactions to sustain our operations and facilitate gradual expansion.
While this initial revenue stream has been instrumental in our journey so far, we recognize the need for additional funding to unlock the full potential of our platform and introduce new features that will further enhance user experience and drive growth. To achieve this, we are pursuing equity investment as a strategic avenue for raising capital.
In our first stage of fundraising, we are seeking $225,000 USD for a 10% equity stake. This infusion of capital will enable us to accelerate the development and launch of innovative features, including institutional subscriptions and content monetization, which represent promising and scalable revenue streams for our business.
Our market research indicates significant demand for these features, particularly within the Arab region, where educational institutions are eager to leverage our platform's unique capabilities to enhance learning outcomes. With conservative estimates projecting institutional subscriptions to generate at least $1 million annually, our business model demonstrates substantial potential for growth and profitability.
Furthermore, our projections indicate a potential return on investment ranging from $12 to $25 million over the next five years, reflecting the scalability and viability of our venture. As we continue to refine our revenue model and expand our user base, we are confident that KilmiOnline & Hundred Arab Readers Initiative will emerge as a compelling investment opportunity for stakeholders seeking both financial returns and social educational impact.
