RAYL's CARE INITIATIVE
- South Africa
- Nonprofit
We want to allow young minds to dream bigger, think better and make the right choices and decisions in life to change the cycle of poverty in their communities.
We want to reach as many youth in all forms of what they may need.
We want them to see themselves better than the drug dealer on the corner, the gangster trying to offer them a life of thuggery and resolving to a robot corner for survival.
We have seen how harsh and cruel their way of life has darkened their prospects of anything different than what they see in front of them.
We have found that starting at the source of building a child is to:
- Feed a child
- Clothe a child
- Teach a child
- Grow a child
We want to create a foundation that rebuilds their knowledge to instill kindness, prospects, and love and encourages each child to be more and do more.
We start with the basics of technology. Giving them information and showing them various forms of technology. Computer skills, Troubleshoot problem via technology.
Starting with the foundation phase 5-18 years of age we can show and give support to youth while they are still young. Planting the seed of possibility.
Have every child filled with tenderness and faith in believing that no matter what challenges they may face in life, they can have a voice and confidence to overcome them and will have the support structure to give them assistance to face them.
We work closely with non-fee-paying schools for the underprivileged.
We believe knowledge is power. Showing them and giving hands-on support and resources can open their minds to be better and do better for themselves.
By strengthening the minds of the youth today with purpose and possibilities, we can create a stronger tomorrow through education and knowledge. Develop a stronger support system for the children and schools in poverty-stricken communities to rise above their circumstances.
Is to make every child feel and know that they are not alone.
Most of their day is spent in a school, many of them feel safe and know they will receive a warm meal and receive a listening ear.
We need to keep their goals driven and positive energy every step of the way.

An NPO relies solely on fundraising, and government funding and in turn places a lot of pressure on the NPO and external support benefactors.
To alleviate this, we believe a charity shop can bring outside communities to give back in non-financial means which in turn will generate income for us to help underprivileged schools across the Peninsula, start a green garden, start a strong feeding scheme, and even assist in building more prefabs for safer aftercare programs.
These may include:
Generating additional revenue to support NPO programs and initiatives.
Raising awareness about your NPO's cause and mission.
Providing affordable goods to the community.
Creating volunteering opportunities and engaging the community in the NPO's activities.
Our charity shop will make basic needs affordable to everyone such as clothing, books, toys, ornaments, kitchenware, DVDs, music, computer games and furnishings, furniture and electrical appliances and so much more which in turn will generate that income giving back to the children in schools feeding each child daily, Broken technology will be used to show and teach learners how to repair, problem solve and reuse technology, hygiene support (hampers as needed and stipulated by the school) and teaching each child on healthy lifestyle choices and friendships.
Location and Premises:
We would like suitable locations that can generate foot traffic and drop zones for donations.
Areas of consideration would be;
Grassy Park
Kenilworth
Wynberg
Retreat
Diep River
Bergvliet and surrounding areas
Products and Pricing:
The charity shop plans to sell goods such as:
donated goods,
second-hand items, or
merchandise related to our NPO's cause.
Our pricing strategy, considering affordability for the community will try to ensure profitability by researching items received.
Marketing and Promotion:
Our marketing and promotion strategies to attract customers as well as donors to the charity shop will include online and offline marketing, collaborations with influencers, and community/private school events.
Operations and Management:
The charity shop will be managed and staffed by unemployed youth and disabled persons.
Roles and responsibilities of employees and volunteers.
We will provide internal training such as customer service, pricing, sorting, cleaning, and sales skills. We will also work with supporting NPOs in this field.
Operational hours will be from 9:00 a.m. To 5:00 p.m. Mon-Friday and Saturday 9:00 a.m-2:00 p.m and alternate Sunday 10:00 a.m-1:00 p.m.
Each customer will receive a pamphlet highlighting the change they made by donating and or purchasing an item in-store.
Financial Projections:
The charity shop will have an estimated income and expenditure forecast for the first three months based on sales and operational expenses.
Implementation Timeline:
We would love to open our charity shop by no later, than December 30th, 2024. This will represent New beginnings and Change.
