IMPACT curates an approach that includes lists of programs and events centered around connecting real life with inventive organizing strategies. We employ a cutting-edge model of engagement focused on creating online engagement rooted in upliftment, entertainment, education and organizing into real-world action on behalf of issues that impact us as a whole. We are committed to perfecting this model through the use of both new technologies and tried and true real world methods.
The current scenario brings to bear a simplified but layered question. What does access to education look like in an environment where the availability of tangible resources is dramatically scarce? In as much, there is also the need to consider the complexities of family dynamics, social constructs, and interpersonal dilemmas which exist within student’s homes that are exacerbated when education is being presented in their homes under the guidance of overwhelmed parents who have not been onboarded properly to be their student’s primary academic guide.
Currently, there is no consistency among school expectations, implementation of virtual or distance learning, or expectation of soft skills necessary for success for the students and their families. Development and access to a clear, consistent resource rooted in the community that is already familiar to both students and their families have the ability to create a stable environment that will allow them to navigate their educational experience with more fluidity.
This model will allow students to have better access to community resources and leadership. The time spent in the classroom whether in person or virtually, coupled with the ability to create opportunities for students to experience learning in a way that makes sense, is easy to navigate and is presented in a manner that is enjoyable, easy to access, and clear to understand will allow students to develop positive experiences outside of school that has the ability to translate to them having a positive experience in school. Utilizing and resourcing teachers to activate the community from their own knowledge and access. This also allows us to develop leadership among teachers, alumni, and school leadership and have them develop a process of connectivity that is organic and sustainable.
IMPACT envisions a world where young people especially the digitally disconnected, are united by their unique strengths and perspective and collaborate across sectors and cultures. We see a future where communities engage with one another while preserving their individual cultural identities, creating a tapestry of diverse voices and experiences. In this vision, we connect digitally disconnected young people connect, learn, and inspire one another, ultimately elevating their access to leadership and influence. Our ultimate goal is to create a global community that values the individual's contribution to the whole, respecting each other's humanity and celebrating collective success. Through our efforts, we aim to contribute to a more inclusive, compassionate, and influential world for all. IMPACT believes in the transformative power of education and knowledge sharing. They are committed to helping communities gain a deeper understanding of the issues they face and providing them with the information and tools they need to make informed decisions.
The Tech Access Program for Girls in Rural Ghana is designed to bridge the gender gap in technology education and opportunities by partnering with Academic programs across the globe and engage teachers from a variety of agencies who are interested in being paid to create content for the school, uploading that content onto a solar powered tablet with a trained teacher guiding them through the digitally presented content. Along with teachers at the school, the digital “school” will be collaboratively designed to deliver a diverse curriculum that covers a range of subjects and skills, such as STEM, entrepreneurship, arts, health, and leadership, tailored to the needs and interests of rural Ghanaian students. During the school year, we couple with an in-person portion of the program, "TeachHer" aiming to bring Black women from various professional backgrounds to rural communities in Ghana as guest teachers. This program seeks to provide students with valuable skills, lessons, and mentorship from successful Black women role models, empowering them and broadening their horizons. Organize structured classroom sessions where guest teachers deliver engaging lessons, interactive activities, and hands-on learning experiences to foster active participation and practical skill development.
This project, centered around the development of education, entrepreneurship and sports programs in rural Ghana, specifically targets girls. Through the outlined programs we are seeking to foster gender equality, promote health and well-being, and empower young girls.
In many rural areas throughout Ghana, girls face various challenges including limited access to education which impacts their ability to fully participate in the edification of their homes, communities and country. At I.M.P.A.C.T., it is our belief that learning and growing happen in tandem and if we are going to grow our collective global influence we must also teach and develop new leaders so that the ecosystem grows and is sustainable.
Moreover, we recognize that education programs create opportunities for girls to become role models within their communities. Their success and achievements in school and business development, inspire other girls to participate and challenge societal constraints. This change in attitude fosters a more inclusive environment for girls in various spheres of life.
As with most developed nations, gender perceptions and social constraints impact expectations and what resources are available to women and girls. Rural Ghana is no exception with the girls facing the challenge of traditional gender stereotypes. Addressing this as a whole, can pave the way for more gender equality and opportunities for girls in other areas of life, including a greater value being placed on their overall health and well-being.
By prioritizing entrepreneurship, scholarship and education, we will highlight the importance of education, health and financial independence and self-sustainability as a means to break the cycle of poverty amongst teen mothers.Teenage pregnancy has several negative consequences for the educational opportunities and outcomes of young girls in Ghana. Girls that become pregnant often drop out of school before completing their education. The responsibilities of motherhood and the stigma attached to being pregnant at a young age make it challenging for them to continue their studies. In as much, pregnant teenagers may face societal disapproval, often resulting in restrictions on their access to education. Some schools may refuse to admit pregnant girls, indirectly denying them the opportunity to continue their education.
Even if pregnant girls manage to stay in school during their pregnancy, they may eventually have to interrupt their studies temporarily or permanently due to the demands of motherhood. This interruption further limits their educational opportunities and hinders their chances of achieving their full potential, restricting their potential for higher-paying jobs and a better quality of life. This can perpetuate gender disparities and limit their potential to be economically self-sufficient. Addressing these challenges requires comprehensive measures, including access to sexual and reproductive health education, supportive policies and creative programming focused on providing them with skills training, access to microfinance and income-generating activities, The development of these support networks will encourage entrepreneurship and financial literacy l allowing all girls, pregnant or not to continue their education.
IMPACT believes in the transformative power of storytelling and the importance of engagement in fostering connections and inspiring action. In the digital age, where people around the world seek relatable content, IMPACT leverages a multi-integrated platform to connect and engage by sharing and listening to stories that resonate with our lived experiences. In a time when social media has become the primary source of news for many, IMPACT recognizes the need for a robust digital presence. Our partner, Detangled, curates programs and events that connect real-life experiences with inventive organizing strategies, creating sustainable relationships between communities and their advocates.
The heart of IMPACT's approach lies in an innovative model of engagement, which blends upliftment, entertainment, education, and organizing into real-world action on issues of collective importance. We commit to enhancing this model by harnessing new technologies and tested real-world methods, ensuring that our efforts address the deep-seated and multilayered reasons behind the lack of civic and social engagement.
Though each participant in this initiative possesses our unique brilliance, collective mission is to collaborate, learn, and build across sectors, thus driving personal success and contributing to the broader strategic success of the communities we serve.
In partnership with Detangled, Citizen SHE, and 4910 Rosalie Productions, IMPACT launches Collective IMPACT to address the underrepresentation of women of color in global seats of influence. Their shared knowledge and collaborative efforts aim to create a base of changemakers that collectively shape the future and the global experience of women, particularly women of color.
In a world where systemic challenges persist, IMPACT is dedicated to advancing intersectional considerations with compassion, mutual support, and the recognition that the uniqueness of each individual contributes to the success of the entire community. This initiative seeks to shift the paradigm by connecting, collaborating, and building together. It envisions a world where respect for each other's humanity and elevation forms the cornerstone of collective progress.

Cyber Justice is an internship offered to middle and high school students from across the world with a variety of tech skills and abilities, but all with a desire to learn even more. We bring social justice advocates, tech leaders, and art visionaries together to present an array of information to participants which will culminate in them producing self-guided media projects around the issues that are important to them.
CyberJustice In Ghana (Click Here) was developed as a gift to the students of Atonkwa. It was part of our “off camera” work during the filming of SHE Shows Up and offered as a pilot to assess the interest in the program and the feasibility to continue administration of the project. The students were mentored by our crew and we agreed to also edit as instructed for them to have their film completed in time for them to compete in ourIt was always our desire to ensure that the students have the opportunity to present their stories and skills to a global market.
The intent is for participants and teachers to walk away with an understanding of what social justice issues impact them and their communities, a set of skills on how to organize and uplift those issues to a larger audience and projects that they will be able to present to a larger audience. Once a week we have “issue presentations” where they will hear from community members allowing them to get a larger understanding of Specific Issues that impact their world. The program provides participants the opportunity to actively engage in increasing the profile of issues Children face in school and community. We take our students on a journey that surpasses imagination. They got to explore the world around them, ask critical questions, and learn that their voice not only matters but is vital!”
Curriculum:
Validation in how students experience the world
A strong belief in self and the ability to dream big
An understanding of how social justice issues impact their lives and a set of skills on how to organize and uplift those issues
A project approach to community engagement
Skills that enhance their ability to engage with and present issues that are important to them to a larger audience.
Interaction with people from multiple communities
They will also participate in a “speaker lunch series” where they will be part of presentations from multiple community members where they will get a larger understanding of how the mentors began their careers, what obstacles they met when navigating through and how they have overcome them.

It envisions a world where respect for each other's humanity and elevation forms the cornerstone of collective progress.
IMPACT has established a set of key objectives to drive its mission and create meaningful change in collaboration with communities worldwide. These key objectives include:
Community Empowerment: To empower marginalized communities, with a particular focus on Black women, by providing them with the tools, resources, and opportunities they need to advocate for their rights, access opportunities, and thrive.
This project, centered around the development of education, entrepreneurship and sports programs in rural Ghana, specifically targets girls. Through the outlined programs we are seeking to foster gender equality, promote health and well-being, and empower young girls.

Teenage pregnancy is a significant issue in Ghana. According to the Ghana Statistical Service, approximately 14% of girls aged 15-19 have been pregnant or have given birth. This rate is higher in rural areas compared to urban areas. Teenage pregnancy often perpetuates the cycle of poverty in rural communities. When girls become mothers at a young age, they often drop out of school and face limited economic opportunities
- Business Model (e.g. product-market fit, strategy & development)
- Financial (e.g. accounting practices, pitching to investors)
- Technology (e.g. software or hardware, web development/design)
There are many issues at play. 1. Teachers are at a loss on how to engage students and have them come to class 2. Teachers are at a loss on how to transfer their classroom from being with their students to being in a virtual world. 3. Many students don’t have access to computers and many that don't know how to use them, which widens the access gap.
YouTube is a platform that can be accessed on multiple platforms that students already have access to. There is no expectation that students or parents know how to use a tool that is outside that which already exists for the household. Moreover, there can be a workshop series on the channel dedicated to how to use tech tools for families. In addition to the classes, I would like to have a space for “expert videos'' Where InspireNOLA Charter Schools and community partners can create videos. I would also like for there to be space for people outside the city to provide content, connecting students with the world. We can have a local school without borders.
Throughout, the world COVID bulldozed through black communities with many sitting in the epicenter of pandemic harm. The direct health impact, coupled with the collateral consequences of policymakers not prioritizing the intersectional impact of poor economic, health, education, housing, and criminal justice issues is coming to a head and our children are at risk of having an already fragile education system having to reconfigure itself.
Economic independence plays a crucial role in addressing teenage pregnancy among girls in rural Ghana by allowing girls to have better access to education. When girls are economically empowered, they can afford school fees, uniforms, and other educational expenses. This reduces the likelihood of them dropping out of school due to financial constraints, thereby increasing their educational attainment. Research shows that the longer girls stay in school, the less likely they are to become teenage mothers.
Moreover, being empowered by financial freedom enables girls to make informed decisions about their lives, including decisions about their sexual and reproductive health. When girls have control over their own finances, they are less likely to engage in risky sexual behaviors and more likely to make choices that promote their overall well-being, including delaying early pregnancies. Additionally, girls have increased access to healthcare services, including reproductive health services. With their own income, they can afford to seek medical advice, contraceptives, and prenatal care. This contributes to reducing the risk of unintended pregnancies and improving overall reproductive health outcomes.
Included in the injection of economic sustainability is the promotion of gender equality by challenging traditional gender roles and expectations. When girls have economic agency, they are less likely to be dependent on men for financial support and are more able to assert their rights and make decisions that align with their own aspirations and goals. Promoting economic independence, allows girls to have a better chance of escaping poverty and creating a better future for themselves and their children via the following veins.

In 2022 we initiated the base of a 3 year plan to build a cohesive, collaborative of Black Women led and focused organizations across the world. We are intent on creating a new digital engagement strategy that includes the creation of multiple engagement platforms that center on a new kind of “news” coverage. Each of these platforms centers the real life experiences of black women throughout the state on various issues that they have deemed central to survival. Our strategy on advisories will be key on saturating markets.
IMPACT founded by Nia Weeks and Damien D. Smith was born out of the collective work of three organizations and companies. Citizen SHE (fiscally sponsored 501(c)3 and Citizen SHE United 501(c)4 are sister organizations that envision a Louisiana that respects and responds to the multidimensional needs of Black women from every walk of life. SHE is weaving a new tapestry of engaged Black women who will become Louisiana’s advocates, operatives, decision makers, and power brokers. SHE’s work reorganizes Louisiana’s power structures to recognize Black women as activists, leaders, and influencers who represent a crucial base of power. SHE’s strategies include leadership development, policy creation, collective advocacy, cultivating candidates, training campaigners, mobilizing Black voters, and engaging elected officials. 4910 Rosalie Productions is a multi-platform production company that focuses on Film, Television, & Social Activism. 4910 Rosalie's mission is to tell stories that represent the complexities of the world around us and give a voice to the voiceless. For three years, these organizations partnered to develop a dynamic new ideology pertaining to civic engagement and participation. Utilizing an online strategy that implements a multi-pronged storytelling engagement framework, we have developed an interwoven campaign that crosses class, color, and geography. Our work is cultivated through deep listening with respect for personal experiences and an eye for weaving together collective shared experiences. The reality is that Black Women are not a monolith and each project or program targets a different populace, conversation or entity, but works collaboratively towards the same goal. It is our ultimate aim to create a system that integrates online tools and traditional organizing tools so that we can have the greatest impact and data that is readily and easily available. This will also help us foster bottom-up leadership by allowing overall best practices to evolve through participation that is informed on all levels. The Collaborative believes that through a multi-integrated platform we can connect and engage with each other by telling and listening to stories that connect us to real life with inventive targeted strategies.
We have navigated our consultant, development and execution strategy from a vantage point that centers the reality of how many people in this country have to navigate, constantly giving voice while simultaneously highlighting and validating experiences. The Collaborative compiled research regarding the benefits of alternative solutions to deeply interwoven communal issues. In as much, we began to shift our priorities in our organizing and engagement to create and facilitate entities that provided solutions as an intermediary as we rebuild towards change. Therefore, the next phase of work is rooted in coordinating the films, writings, interviews and community organizing into into teaching toolkits, CLE’s for attorneys and community engagement programs intended to give real solutions to the issues that have been uplifted from previous engagements.
