Girls with disabilities are even more vulnerable, facing a tenfold increase in gender-based violence, with an estimated 70% of girls with intellectual disabilities experiencing sexual abuse before their 18th birthday. Many children with disabilities in Tanzania are either forgotten or hidden, denied their basic rights, and excluded from essential services.

Factors contributing to these challenges include systemic barriers such as inaccessible infrastructure, stigma and discrimination, lack of trained educators, and limited resources for specialized support. Poverty exacerbates the situation, as families struggle to afford healthcare, assistive devices, and transportation to access educational opportunities.

Our solution addresses these complex issues by focusing on inclusive education and leveraging technology to create accessible learning environments for children with disabilities. In Manyara and the surrounding regions, approximately 29 million children live with disabilities, according to estimates from  Child Africa. However, many of these children are excluded from education, with only a fraction enrolled in schools and even fewer attending inclusive classrooms.

Through our initiatives, we aim to enroll at least 500 children with disabilities into mainstream inclusive education programs in the initial phase of our implementation. By providing tailored support and accommodations, including assistive technologies, specialized training for educators, and community outreach efforts, we ensure these children have the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
