Less than 3% of the displaced and refugee population (110M people from UNHCR data 2022) can access higher education and related jobs. At the same time, the world needs more than 2M coders, as stated by Accenture in their report of 2022. We are setting up a certified computer code training course for refugees in developing countries. These refugees live in the capital or come from refugee camps. We launched School 42 in Amman, Jordan, where 1.5 million refugees live (the second largest country in the world in terms of hosting refugees). School 42 exists in more than 35 countries worldwide, providing more employment opportunities for graduates of this school. We are, therefore, putting in place an innovative solution for the economic inclusion of refugees and vulnerable populations at scale.
Our solution is peer-to-peer pedagogy, relying on well-proven software as a service. This SaaS platform uses behavior technology and gamification techniques. It is used by more than 54 campuses worldwide (35 countries) today and has demonstrated a successful approach to economic inclusion over the last ten years.
Our solution serves all young communities (17-30 years) that don't own a diploma and have the traditional path of higher education, particularly underserved communities and refugees. These students can find sustainable jobs more efficiently after obtaining their certification (18 months of study). This impact positively impacts their lives.
Our Jordanian team partners with UNHCR and UNICEF to serve the refugee and underserved communities. 42 Amman is a Crown Prince Foundation program that uses all necessary means to attract these communities in all Jordanian regions. Our executive director is a Jordanian-US woman who led several organizations before 42 Amman. Our Pedagogy director is also Jordanian, and was a former Technical Director of one of the most prominent private coding school in Jordan (ASAC Luminus)

As mentioned before, 42 Coding Education is based on Software as a service that serves coding education, which has been proven for over ten years in several countries. More than 50.000 students around the globe have obtained a certificate. That's why we are growing in Jordan and tomorrow in scale mode.

A- Sustainable economic inclusion for refugees in developing countries.
B- An 18-month hands-on training course in computer coding, certified by École 42. To access this training, there's no need for any diploma—a pre selection of 4 weeks of immersion to qualify students' skills. Students are generally between 17 and 25 years old and come from families to whom the UNHCR has granted refugee status. If the student passes the pre-selection stage, they are admitted to a vocational training course leading to certification. This training will be accompanied (generally after 12 months) by a work-study contract with a company or public institution.
C- training in computer coding based on projects and paired learning. This training has been proven by more than 50,000 students worldwide, and major companies have proved the quality of this training by employing dozens of the best 42 students. This course develops soft skills (critical thinking, problem-solving, team work, etc.).
D- Instead of making refugees work in low-cost service jobs, giving them this training provides them access to well-paid employment. This has a positive impact on them, their families, and their communities.
Using the UN SD goals we can develop: 1,4,5,8, and 10 through our program.
Our training program is based on a unique and disruptive technology illustrated by a gamified software as a-service platform that students and their peers use to learn and deliver projects together. It is not a MOOC approach! Students have to be onsite with their peers. The Saas platform uses AI and behavior technologies as well as advanced grading algorithms.

Our organization is currently implementing our first cohort in Jordan. We have 450 students who will go through the pre-selection stages from April to July. We will have a class of 120–150 students starting in August. Today, 60% of the students are men and 40% are women.
Our team is from Jordan, the US, and Abu Dhabi. It is mixed, 40% female and 60% male. Our executive director is a US-Jordanian woman who was chosen because of her passion for onboarding women in tech.

The training for students is Free. We finance our cohorts through donors and foundations. In this application (MIT Solve), we intend to propose a solution to provide scholarships for underserved communities and refugees.
