EzPort tackles the urgent challenge faced by under-served students who lack essential support in crafting electronic portfolios (e-portfolios), particularly in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) disciplines. Globally, millions of students encounter barriers to effective portfolio development due to limited access to resources and guidance. In the United States alone, under-resourced schools struggle to adequately prepare students for e-portfolio creation, hindered by restricted access to digital infrastructure, lack of digital literacy education, and funding for technology-driven pedagogical approaches.
With the demand for e-portfolios rising, as showcased by statistics like the fact that applicants who submit e-portfolios have a 20% higher chance of being admitted to college, a critical need for an accessible e-portfolio creation solution like ours is being showcased. Various U.S. and international institutions, such as Alverno College and the University of Salford, use e-portfolios as assessment components for incoming applicants, emphasizing their significance in higher education application processes. Just like in college admissions, the importance of e-portfolio readiness cannot be overstated in hiring practices, with 73% of small business employers and 82% of large business employers acknowledging their value in the hiring process.
By developing an intuitive, easy-to-understand/navigate, upbeat, and accessible e-portfolio creation platform tailored to the unique needs of under-served students, EzPort aims to bridge the gap in college and career readiness. Leveraging technology to address equity gaps in career readiness, EzPort provides under-served students with the tools and resources to effectively represent themselves in competitive industries. This not only assists them in portraying under-served students' unique learning opportunities but also ensures that employers understand their contributions.
According to recent studies, under-served students face a significant disadvantage in college, internship, and job applications due to this one factor alone—a lack of e-portfolio readiness. This disparity extends to internship and job applications as well. EzPort stands poised to combat this inequity and empower under-served students to compete on a level playing field.

EzPort's innovative approach extends beyond just providing a platform for e-portfolio creation. We understand that mentorship and guidance are crucial for under-served students to navigate the college and career landscape effectively. That's why EzPort incorporates a mentoring feature, allowing students to seek feedback and advice from experienced professionals and educators.
Through EzPort's mentoring feature, students can request reviews of their e-portfolios from mentors who have expertise in their chosen fields. These mentors provide valuable insights and suggestions for improvement, helping students refine their portfolios and present themselves in the best possible light.
Additionally, EzPort is designed to seamlessly integrate with Learning Management Systems (LMS) commonly used in educational institutions. This ensures that students, even in rural counties with limited resources, have easy access to the platform. By integrating with LMSs, EzPort can reach a wider audience of under-served students, providing them with the support and resources they need to succeed.
Overall, EzPort utilizes cutting-edge technology not only to empower under-served students to create compelling e-portfolios but also to facilitate mentorship and support, and ensure accessibility for all. By addressing equity gaps in college and career readiness, EzPort levels the playing field for under-served students, enabling them to showcase their potential and achieve their academic and career goals.
Our solution, EzPort, serves under-served high school students, especially those in schools where project-based learning (PJBL) opportunities are limited. These students often lack access to resources and support needed to create effective e-portfolios for college, internship, and job applications. Currently, they face barriers due to limited mentorship, inadequate digital infrastructure, and a lack of technology-driven learning approaches. EzPort aims to directly and meaningfully improve the lives of these students by providing them with a user-friendly platform to create compelling e-portfolios. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, EzPort offers personalized guidance, AI-driven feedback, and mentoring support to help students showcase their skills and achievements effectively. This not only enhances their chances of college admission but also improves their prospects for internships and job opportunities. Additionally, EzPort's seamless integration with Learning Management Systems ensures accessibility for students in rural counties and under-resourced schools, enabling them to access the platform and its resources easily. By addressing the specific needs of under-served students and empowering them to represent themselves proficiently, EzPort equips them with the tools to succeed in the digital age and achieve their academic and career goals.
Furthermore, EzPort is committed to ensuring accessibility for all learners, including those with learning disorders. Our platform incorporates a range of accessibility features to accommodate diverse learning needs and provide an inclusive user experience. For students with learning disorders, such as dyslexia or ADHD, EzPort offers customizable display options, including font styles, sizes, and color schemes, to enhance readability and reduce visual stress. Moreover, the platform provides audio feedback and text-to-speech functionality, allowing students to listen to instructions and feedback instead of relying solely on written text. EzPort also supports alternative input methods, such as voice commands and touch gestures, to cater to students who may have difficulty with traditional keyboard and mouse navigation. Additionally, the platform includes built-in prompts and reminders to help students stay organized and focused throughout the portfolio creation process. By incorporating these accessibility features, EzPort ensures that students with learning disorders can fully participate in e-portfolio creation and effectively showcase their talents and achievements. This not only promotes inclusivity but also empowers all learners to succeed in college, internships, and careers, regardless of their individual challenges and needs.
Our team, led by Ahmya, is uniquely positioned to design and deliver EzPort to the target population of under-served high school students. Ahmya brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the table, having interned and worked with state-level educational agencies and collaborated with multiple stakeholders in the education sector. Additionally, she has a proven track record, having contributed to the creation of curriculum for 300,000 students in her previous role.
Furthermore, Ahmya benefits from the support and resources of a prestigious T20 university, where she is currently working with esteemed professors in AI and leveraging state-of-the-art facilities for development. As a product designer, Ahmya has a keen eye for user experience and understands the importance of incorporating community input into the design and implementation process. She has actively engaged with under-served communities to understand their needs, challenges, and aspirations, ensuring that EzPort is meaningfully guided by their input, ideas, and agendas.
Moreover, our team is representative of the communities we serve, with members who have firsthand experience navigating the challenges faced by under-served students. For example, I come from a rural, lower-income area and currently attend a school that required a portfolio for admission. This experience allows me to provide a perspective on the challenges I faced during that process and what resources would be best for students who were once in my situation to adequately represent themselves.
This enables us to empathize with their struggles and tailor EzPort to meet their specific needs effectively.
Overall, our team's combination of experience, expertise, and commitment to community engagement ensures that EzPort is designed and delivered with the target population's best interests at heart. We are confident in our ability to deploy this solution successfully and make a meaningful impact on the lives of under-served high school students.

- Concept
We chose "Concept" as the visual identity of EzPort is currently in the creation phase. While the research-backed features of EzPort have been meticulously selected through a six-month-long research study, we are now focusing on refining the accessible layout and colors based on diverse feedback. This stage of development is crucial to us, as it ensures that the final product not only meets the functional needs of our users but also resonates with them visually, enhancing their overall experience. Hence why we have been in this stage for a while.
In terms of what we have accomplished so far, our team has conducted extensive research to identify the most impactful features for EzPort. Through surveys, interviews, and competitive analysis, we gathered insights from under-served high school students to understand their specific needs and challenges in the college application process. This research phase allowed us to select features that are tailored to address these needs effectively.
Additionally, we have engaged with a significant number of potential beneficiaries during the research phase. Through targeted outreach efforts and partnerships with community organizations, we were able to reach a diverse group of under-served students from various backgrounds and regions. This ensured that our research findings are representative of the target population and that EzPort will truly serve their needs.
While we are still in the process of finalizing the visual identity of EzPort, our focus on research-backed features and community engagement has laid a solid foundation for development. We are confident that once the visual identity is fleshed out, EzPort will quickly go through development.
