Under-served communities and educational inequality often happen due to the economic disadvantages of specific regions. Teachers and students have very limited educational resources in most economically disadvantaged cases. If students have PCs or mobile phones, we can help reduce educational inequality by offering our Banbuniuniu accounts to these students. Suppose students do not have any PCs or mobile phones. In that case, we can provide Banbuniuniu to their teachers, who can show and present many great examples and scenarios about applying math to life to their students. In addition, Banbuniuniu's curriculums and materials are thoroughly designed for primary school students' self-learning, which is still beneficial for kids learning math in underdeveloped areas that lack appropriate teachers.
Math is an essential component of STEM education. Math can help kids think of questions with great logic and reasoning, which can also help them gain further success as students or even get secured jobs in the future. My team has built an interest-driven, research-supported, and self-learning platform that can provide world-class mathematical resources to any primary school students worldwide through the Internet.
Banbuniuniu utilizes Singapore's "Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract" model to illustrate primary school math curriculums more efficiently and effectively while having fun.
At Banbuniuniu, we are proud to provide primary school students with practical and understandable problem-solving solutions. Our curriculum and materials have been thoughtfully crafted to illustrate the use of CPA models in tackling classic math word problems. By comparing conventional and CPA model solutions, we aim to impart the latter's advantages to students while bolstering their ability to summarize information, build basic graphical models, and reiterate information in Banbuniuniu.
We provide multiple ways for primary school students to explore the charm of math:
- We have a session designed for kids to practice problems on specific topics.
- We have a daily session for kids to practice ten random math questions. They can earn points to decorate their personalized icons and spaceships.
- We have a series of original cartoon videos to show how to apply math to life in different situations.
- We also have a comic session in which all plots are based on the primary school math curriculum.
- Our users can compete with other global online users by solving five random math questions to get more points.
- Our users can also travel to global tourist attractions by using points (earned from practice sessions) to initialize their spaceship and see the beautiful scenery. We hope all kids are passionate about seeing and exploring the world.
Beyond the above, my team is also building a Banbuniuniu community like TEDx communities, where we can connect local volunteer high school students, college students, and math teachers to this region's historically disadvantaged students by hosting small and interactive math events. Kids who grow up in under-served communities should know how big and impressive this world is and how many possibilities they will have for their lives if they try hard. With clear objectives, these kids can go much further than what we expected.
Our target market is primary school students from K1 to K6. According to data from China's Central Government, there are around 158,000 primary schools in China, and the number of students in primary schools is about 108 million.
We have published our Banbuniuniu in Chinese version for K1 to K6, which means the number of potential customers is about 108 million. At the same time, we are developing our Banbuniuniu in English, which will be updated on the App Store within one month. Then, our target market will be much more significant and inclusive, and it will become the primary school kids worldwide.
We are not teaching kids how to get perfect scores, but we are helping them cultivate interest in applying Mathematics to daily life by using diverse learning models and methods. We value the importance of STEM Education to young people's future success. We aim to help them prepare solidly for next-level studies by cultivating their ability to solve math questions with math modeling logic and explore applications of math knowledge to real-life scenarios.
In addition, our product offers a solution to provide access to world-class mathematical resources for children who live in economically underdeveloped areas and lack educational resources. With a few devices and available Internet, we can offer teachers and students great math resources to achieve better teaching and learning outcomes worldwide without constraints.
"Globally, 250 million children are not in school, and hundreds of millions are in classrooms that lack adequate access to learning materials. " My team has offered many free Banbuniuniu memberships for students living in the poorest areas of China. In the following steps, we would like to offer free memberships to more children worldwide suffering from severe educational and economic inequalities. My team profoundly believes that our mission calls to inspire kids who love math and help kids who need math.
Hang Qin is the founder and CEO of Pengzhi Educational Technology (Shenzhen) Co.,Ltd. He has a solid background in math, education policy, and data analysis. Hang represented the Boston University (BU) Math Department to compete in the 2015 Putnam Math competition, one of the most prestigious competitions for undergraduate students, and got the best BU scores ever. He was also a teacher alumni in the Program in Mathematics for Young Scientist, one of the top three math camps for high school students in the US. Hang got his first master's degree at the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Education Policy. Hang then earned his second master's degree at Columbia University, where he majored in statistics.
However, Hang grew up in a very underdeveloped small town in northeastern China. When his family moved to Shenzhen, Hang was 15. It was the first time he had had a chance to use the Internet. He knew exactly what the information gap and educational resource inequality meant for a young kid.
- Ensure that all children are learning in good educational environments, particularly those affected by poverty or displacement.
- 4. Quality Education
- 5. Gender Equality
- 10. Reduced Inequalities
- Growth
We have developed iOS and Android apps for Banbuniuniu, a WeChat Mini program, and a PC version. These are not minimal viable products. Instead, we have polished our apps quite comprehensively. Our Apps are ready for a large-scale marketing promotion to attract more members.
We want to attract more talented people to join us and devote our efforts to improving the situation of inequality in education worldwide. We need people with different backgrounds to build markets in various countries and areas. Also, we want to have more AI talents who can combine more AI functions with our Apps.
- Financial (e.g. accounting practices, pitching to investors)
- Human Capital (e.g. sourcing talent, board development)
- Legal or Regulatory Matters
- Product / Service Distribution (e.g. delivery, logistics, expanding client base)
- Public Relations (e.g. branding/marketing strategy, social and global media)
- Technology (e.g. software or hardware, web development/design)
We value the importance of applying technology, such as Apps, software, and AI applications, to solve long-lasting problems in education inequality, which makes our team possible and capable of solving very challenging issues in education.
At the same time, we value the significance of people. Our team has top curriculum developers who majored in mathematics education, education policy, and psychology and have abundant field experience. Many of them graduated from the Ivy League and other top schools. Such a team can guarantee the high quality of the curriculum content.
In addition, we value the power of community. We build an educator's community to get voluntary teachers involved in teaching kids math online or recording short videos for math problems. Surprisingly, many teachers gave us the same feedback. They never thought they could affect such many students just through short videos within a few minutes.
Therefore, the fundamentally innovative part of our solution is that we solve education inequality problems based on technology, not only technology. As lifelong learners, we keep embracing the newest technology and pay attention to the importance of people and community.
We need a sustainable solution to solve education inequality over time, which should have some attributes. In my opinion, the first one is low cost. The second one is easy access. Last but not least is quality, which means the solution should be effective and efficient for students to study or dive by themselves.
Banbuniuniu has different platforms, such as Apps and a PC website, that are easy to access. The mathematics curriculum is carefully designed by teachers and scholars who graduated from the Ivy League, using world-famous teaching methods, so quality can be guaranteed. Lastly, we do not charge an expensive member fee. At the same time, we are willing to distribute free membership to many young kids every year. I hope we can make a difference in improving education inequality.
From 2024, we aim to offer thousands of free members to underdeveloped areas yearly where young students struggle with limited educational resources. With more curriculums developed and more vulnerable groups connected, we will offer more free members to the kids who need them most to decrease education inequality. In some underdeveloped villages in China, parents can only afford for their sons to go to school, and they do not send their daughters to school. We also hope to help achieve gender equality in some way through our apps by providing free math self-learning resources to these families and ensuring girls have the same rights as boys regarding education.
We are sincerely eager to connect more educators to achieve this objective together. The number of free accounts and how long these accounts stay active will be good indicators of our solution's impact.
The core technology that powers our solution includes different versions of Apps, a PC website, and a WeChat Mini program for primary school students and teachers whose native language is Chinese or English to experience our math learning platform, Banbuniuniu. We are also incorporating AI to develop more language versions of Apps and to set up more scenarios for students to apply math knowledge to real life with the help of virtual reality applications.

Since 2022, I have led my team to develop the "Banbuniuniu" math curriculum and design the self-explored learning platform, including an app, PC, and WeChat Mini-Program version.
My company is based in Shenzhen, a metropolitan city in China. This fantastic city attracts young people from all over the country to work and live here. All my team members have quite different backgrounds. Most of us speak different dialects, and the total number of dialects in our office is six. The average age of our team members is 26. Our work environment is inclusive, inspiring, and energetic.
The first one is that we are looking for school partners. Our Banbuniuniu has gained approval from the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China so that we can cooperate with public schools without any constraints from the Double Reduction Policy. Out of China, we will also keep building cooperation with primary schools where English or Chinese is the first language.
Meanwhile, we value social media's enormous influence. We sell our Banbuniuniu memberships to potential customers through short videos and live streaming on different platforms. We profit by selling our products' memberships to individual customers and partner schools.
- Individual consumers or stakeholders (B2C)
Our on-sale version of Banbuniuniu just launched the APP store a few months ago. The primary way for us to profit from Banbuniuniu is to sell its memberships. We have two different membership categories: the standard membership and the VIP membership. The price of membership depends on the membership's valid duration. The standard membership fee for one month is about 6 USD, and the VIP membership fee for one month is about 12 USD.
Banbuniuniu's marginal cost is zero since we do not need more resources to produce one additional user account. Our main cost is the money used to pay office rent and the salaries of the team, which are fixed. Once the number of paid users can cover the team's maintenance cost, the projected revenue will look like a linear line.
To better illustrate, I suppose the average user's monthly revenue was 8 USD, so the slope of the linear line is 8. Once we have one more paid user, we have eight more USD in revenue. So, the projected revenue model is Revenue=8xQuantity of Paid Users, and the projected profit model is Profit=8xQuantity of Paid Users-Maintenance Fee.
