Youth Employment Support Uganda Limited (YES- UG)
YES-UG engages in different trainings which includes making of re-usable pads for the school going girls.
YES-UG does community mappings, thus finding out who the leaders in a particular community are. This enables us to penetrate in the community with the help of local council leaders.
YES-UG does need assessment, this makes it able to involve the community based on their needs as discovered in the mappings.
YES-UG we monitor and evaluate activities at community level with the people in the communities we engage. We create small sub groups who we work with in different projects. We use the 1-4all methodology. In this method we engage a big number but in small sub groups.
Lack of Sanitary pads for young girls. Most of the girl who are between the age of 12 years and above are likely going to experience monthly periods, with lack of pads most of these girls drop out of school or even miss school which makes them perform poorly at school. And this has been greatly attributed to lack of money to buy sanitary pads as most of the parents cannot afford to buy them. However YES-UG came up with a solution of making re-usable pads, in which these girls are trained on how to make them for their own use or donations to other girls in different communities. This has greatly helped in increasing awareness that menstruation is not a problem as we have a good working relationship with different communities.
we are working mostly with girls between the age of 12years-25years who are mostly school going. This came up because most cases of girls dropping out of school due to lack of pads were on an increase so we decided to buy materials and start training girls on how to make re-usable pads, they have actually found it very good and cheap since they literally don't put in anything. We form different groups in different schools, train them on how to make pads, go back and monitor and see how they're making them and if they're benefiting their community. And no doubt most girls have acquired the skills and some have started making the pads for sell where they earn a living.
since we identify a needy community, we offer free training, where by all members are able to get hands on skills
Since we do community mappings and get to know leaders of different communities who can easily tell the age bracket of their community members. And also engage the leaders in trainings so that they can be able to train their community people commonly known as "Ssengas" in Uganda.
We continue to monitor and Evaluate different groups in different communities that we normally offer our trainings. And continue to provide the necessary materials needed incase they are to continue with the pads making, so that the future of the girl child is well catered for.
- Design and produce mass-market clothing and apparel through circular processes
- Growth
- New application of an existing technology
Re-usable pads are easy and simple to make and are mainly made from a soft fabric, these pads are designed in away that they can be used to close eight hours even with a heavy flow meaning that a school going girl who spends 6hours at school doesn't need to move up and about in fear of "stamping". And no one can tell that she's in her periods, its kind of a relief knowing that you won't have to buy a packet of pads which costs 5000ushs every month. Rather one has something which she can use over and over again
we normally get 100% cotton fabrics,( Soft cotton blanket), fleece, plastic synthetic cotton. Cut it into different sizes according to different ages, and later bring them together for sewing. These can be hand made or tailored.
- Artificial Intelligence
- Machine Learning
- Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality
so far we have been to over 50 rural schools in Uganda and different girls have embraced the idea of using these pads with no doubt despite the fact that sometimes the finances are minimal to continue with the trainings, and since we normally provide materials to these people at times it becomes hard to continue but with the availability of funds, there's no doubt these girls will not miss school because of lack of sanitary pads.

We are currently serving 1000 girls, but we project to be serving over 2000 girls by close of this year. Since we are thinking of looking for different funders and other projects which are income generating so that the trainings can go on yearly without stops at all and in the next five years we will have covered the whole country, no girl child will miss school because of lack of pads.
our goal is to buy machines and establish them in atleast in each district over 50% of the girls attain these trainings
its majorily a financial problem since we are not able to buy the materials necessary to make these pads and even move from one place to another is a bit costly.
Some areas are hard to reach, but we think in the next five years we shall have a car to traverse in the whole country
we are looking at selling pads to people who can afford to so that we don't lack funds at all. And establishing regional offices so that we don't have to move from time to time
- Nonprofit
we are currently 30people and we work as a team.
we are based to deliver this solution as we look at employing more people and we feel for the young girls who miss school due to such a problem
Fabs organization, Fabs organization deals with girls who have been faced with post abortion cases and has been operational for more years than us, so they're more in touch with most girls in different regions
since we are a non profit organization we don't sell rather we offer skills and the girls who can manage the materials are the ones that benefit by selling the pads to different girls in different areas where we have not been able to reach
Apparently we have been getting money through sustained donations
Am applying to solve for financial help.

we will utilize the funds by buying materials and machines for making pads.
We will utilize the funds by opening regional offices
We will utilize the funds by buying a car that will ease our movement from one place to another
