Malaria is one of the most widespread diseases, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa. Many methods of diagnosing it were implemented such as: Rapid diagnostic test, microscopy. However, these methods are not always accessible to everyone due to the lack of medical equipment, the reduced number of hospitals and underdevelopment. furthermore, during a pandemic, it would be difficult for the entire population to carry out the malaria test in as hospital, as the risk of infection might be higher. To handle these different problems, we want to create a device which will give the patient the flexibility to take its malaria diagnosis anywhere he is.
Our diagnostic technique is based
on taking parameters, analyzing symptoms and detecting malaria
thanks to artificial intelligence which will analyze the patient's blood.
This device is basedon the Raspberrypi model 3B+ microcomputer (small single-board computers) which is a state-of-the-art ARM microcomputer. It is associated with a device for taking parameters, based on ESP32, and an artificial intelligence allowing diagnosis and blood analysis using Opencv
(real-time optimized computer vision library, tools and hardware) and finally
a mini operating system compiled using the Yocto project (open source project which allows the creation of custom distributions for embedded devices).

My solution us especially for poor people in underdeveloped countries, and around the world. They are undeserved because they lack money to go to the hospital. Moreover, in underdeveloped countries, they are not enough hospitals to solve health problems of the population.Furthermore, health equipment care expensive and their care as well.
We are well-positioned to deliver this solution first of all because i am living in an underdeveloped countries , that means i am in touch with all the problems that population from such countries face ,especially in the health sector.
Here in Cameroon there is a lack of medical equipment in many hospital, and malaria is a wide spread disease here. That is why we have developed this solution, not only to provide additional equipment to hospitals and individuals, but also to make malaria diagnosis quicker and available to us.
Therefore i think that we are well positioned to deliver this solution.
- Increase capacity and resilience of health systems, including workforce, supply chains, and other infrastructure.
- 3. Good Health and Well-Being
- Prototype
The project was originally my master's subject.I needed a least to create a prototype, in order to defend my master's Degree. So i made the prototype. As most of the electronics equipment are to find abroad, i did not continue with the prototype.
The barriers that i face the most are the lack of contact with well know experts who can guide me in the realization of this project, as well as the lack of powerful equipment to develop the solution.I hope solve will keep me in contact with other solver , so that we can help each other and work on different projects.
- Business Model (e.g. product-market fit, strategy & development)
- Financial (e.g. accounting practices, pitching to investors)
- Monitoring & Evaluation (e.g. collecting/using data, measuring impact)
- Technology (e.g. software or hardware, web development/design)
Actually , i am the only one working on this solution, but i look forward to recruiting other people to make the work easier and faster.
I have been working on this solution for a year already.
