PillMova addresses the critical issue of inadequate access to essential medicines in Nigeria, particularly in underserved and rural areas. The specific problem we are solving is the widespread unavailability of essential medicines, which affects a significant portion of the population. According to the World Health Organization (2019), 45% of Nigerians lack access to essential medicines, while 40% of prescriptions are for medicines that are not available in public health facilities. Furthermore, the availability of essential medicines is limited in public health facilities (34%) and private health facilities (55%). Compounding this issue is the fact that 70% of Nigeria's population lives in rural areas, where access to medicines is severely limited (Federal Ministry of Health, 2020). Our solution, PillMova, aims to bridge this gap by providing a reliable logistics and delivery system for drugs to pharmacies and individuals, especially in hard-to-reach areas, ensuring that everyone everywhere has access to essential medicines.
Our solution is PillMova, a logistics and delivery company under OneHealth, designed to address the critical issue of inadequate access to essential medicines in Nigeria, particularly in underserved and rural areas. PillMova provides a reliable and efficient system for delivering drugs to pharmacies and individuals, leveraging technology and a network of logistics partners to ensure timely and secure transportation of medicines.
PillMova's solution includes:
A digital platform for ordering and tracking medicines
A network of logistics partners for last-mile delivery
A data analytics system to monitor supply chain performance and identify areas for improvement
PillMova aims to increase access to essential medicines, reduce stockouts and wastage, and improve health outcomes for individuals and communities in Nigeria by providing a reliable and efficient logistics and delivery system.
Our solution, PillMova, serves underserved communities, pharmacies and healthcare providers, as well as patients and individuals. By delivering essential medicines to rural and hard-to-reach areas, we ensure access to healthcare for those who need it most. We streamline the supply chain for pharmacies and healthcare providers, reducing stockouts and ensuring a consistent supply of medicines, enabling them to provide quality care. We provide convenient access to essential medicines for patients and individuals, saving them time and effort and improving health outcomes. By increasing access to essential medicines, we reduce the risk of worsening health conditions and improve treatment outcomes. We also reduce the financial burden on individuals and healthcare providers, who often incur additional costs due to stockouts and wastage. Our digital platform and logistics network streamline the supply chain, reducing wait times and enabling healthcare providers to focus on patient care. We improve individuals' and communities' overall quality of life, enabling them to lead healthier and more productive lives.

PillMova is innovative for several reasons. We leverage a digital platform to connect patients, healthcare providers, and pharmacies, streamlining the medicine supply chain and ensuring real-time tracking and monitoring. This digital approach enables us to respond quickly to changes in demand and supply, reducing the likelihood of stockouts and overstocking.
We also utilize a data-driven approach to identify areas of high demand, optimize logistics, and make predictions, enabling proactive measures to address gaps in supply. This data analysis helps us to identify trends and patterns, allowing us to refine our solution and make informed decisions.
Our partnership model is another innovative aspect of our solution. We collaborate with local pharmacies, healthcare providers, and community leaders to ensure contextualized solutions, build trust, and foster ownership. This partnership approach enables us to tap into local knowledge and expertise, ensuring that our solution is tailored to meet the specific needs of each community.
In addition, our solution is designed to be inclusive and accessible. We cater to diverse user needs through user-friendly interfaces and multi-channel access (SMS, voice, web), including those with limited digital literacy. Our solution is scalable and adaptive, with a cloud-based infrastructure enabling rapid scaling and a modular design allowing easy adaptation to various settings and contexts.
Our theory of change is built on the logical links between our activities, outputs, and outcomes, supported by research, feedback, and data analysis evidence. By developing and deploying the PillMova platform, training healthcare providers and pharmacists, and establishing partnerships with pharmaceutical companies and logistics providers, we expect to see immediate outputs such as a functional platform, trained users, and secured partnerships. In the short-term, this will lead to increased access to essential medicines, improved medicine supply chain efficiency, and enhanced patient health outcomes. In the long-term, we anticipate reduced morbidity and mortality rates, improved health equity, and a scalable and sustainable solution for medicine access and healthcare improvement. Research studies, user feedback, and data analysis from pilot projects and early implementation phases provide evidence supporting the links between our activities, outputs, and outcomes, demonstrating a clear path to impact for our target population.
