Often when a Physician discharges a Patient from the Hospital, he or she may not be certain if something could go wrong later down the road afer the patient has been fully discharged from the hospital, but they are unable to continue to provide medical care for patient once the patient leaves the hospital. Outside the Hospital Setting, Individuals that are unconnected to the Medical Field may be unable to obtain Medical Coverage, be it due to their remote access locations, or a lack of financial means.
Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) is a relatively new technique and method in monitoring patients in the Medical Industry. This technology allows Physicians to monitor patients outside the hospital setting. The advantage of this is that the Physician is able to track his or her treatment of a patient post-discharge to ascertain if the treatment administered to the patient is effective in terms of treating the individual. A key advantage of this ability is that the effective treatment of a patient usually results in lower hospitalization costs and reduced mortality for the patient. Another advantage of this technique is that the Physician is able to effectively monitor and treat the progression of a disease, be it an acute or short-term disease or a chronic disease.
Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) devices are used by physicians today to monitor patients discharged from the hospital when they are in their homes. These devices are generally used by the patient to measure the physiological parameter desired by the physician, and transmit it to the physician for him or her to check and ascertain if the patient is improving and okay. Th is capability assists in early and real-time detection of illness, prevention of worsening of illnesses and untimely deaths, cost reduction in hospitalization, and reduction in the number of hospitalizations.
Finally, the advancement of RPM devices makes it possible for Individuals to gain access to basic health care treatment and coverage, regardless of their physical location, be it in the rural regions or in the urban regions.
The existing literature support for RPM can be found at in the reference publications:

MEDLINK is a pocket-sized, verbally interactive, programmable medical device that allows physicians to select which medical measurements they would like to take for a specific patient. The Physiological Parameters that can be measured by MEDLINK include, but is not limited to:
1. Electrocardiography (ECG)
2. Blood Pressure
3. Heart Rate
4. Blood Glucose
5. Pulse Rate
6. Blood Oxygen Saturation (SPO2)
7. Electromyography (EMG)
8. Body temperature
9, Respiratory Data.
After programming of the device by the Physician, MEDLINK can be given to the desired patient to take home for Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM).
When the patient switches on the device at home, MEDLINK verbally guides the patient to acquire the measurements requested by his or her Physician. This information is automatically and wirelessly transmitted to the Physician’s Email Address for Medical Analysis, Check Up, and/or Follow Up. MEDLINK has its own software application that allows the Physician to view and analyse the measured Physiological Parameters for any Patient. MEDLINK also has the potential to allow Patient-Physician Communication during the RPM Period.

More details about the MEDLINK Device and its software can be found at the following sites:

MEDLINK allows Physicians in any specialization to monitor patients outside of the hospital setting for as long as is needed. It can be used to monitor patients after they have been discharged from the hospital. It also allows individuals to have quality access to basic health care. Once programmed by a Physician and given to an individual, MEDLINK can be used to provide regular health care check up and coverage for the individual for as long as they want, and so in this sense provides basic health coverage for the individual
The pocket-sized MEDLINK device can be used to provide health care access to those with disabilities, because it is easy to use, provides verbal instructions to the user and can be operated with the placement of a single finger. It is used by individuals that are unconnected to the Medical Field and are unable to obtain Medical Coverage, be it due to their remote access location or a lack of financial means. This is possible because the device is remotely operated and requires little input from the Physician to provide access to basic health care, and it can be operated by the user from any location they reside in.
MEDLINK is used to address health-care disparities because it can be given to individuals who belong to under-represented groups or regions and are unable to afford access to health care. Once a MEDLINK is programmed for an individual by a Physician and is given to them, that individual has access to health care coverage regardless of their Racial, Sexual, Financial or Geographic disparities.

MEDLINK can remotely monitor 9 Physiological Parameters. This is innovative because RPM devices in existence is capable of measuring only one or two physiological parameters (e.g. pulse and heart rate). However, MEDLINK is capable of measuring all these 9 parameters:
1. ECG: MEDLINK extracts the heartbeat data for a patient within TEN seconds of inserting the patient's finger into the appropriate slot in the DEVICE. Using the custom software transmitted by MEDLINK, the data is displayed in the Physician's email and RPM analysis is done by the software to see if there are any defects in the heart rhythm acquired by the MEDLINK device.
2. BLOOD PRESSURE: MEDLINK acquires the diastolic and systolic blood pressure for a patient within TEN seconds by the insertion of a finger with the appropriate slot and an innovative technology using infrared is incorporated to obtain the blood pressure of the patient.
3. HEART RATE: MEDLINK acquires the heart rate of a patient within SEVEN seconds of inserting the patient's finger in the appropriate slot in the device.
4. BLOOD GLUCOSE: MEDLINK acuires the blood glucose measurement of a patient within TEN seconds of inserting the patient's finger into the appropriate slot in the DEVICE using an innovative infrared technology that has not yet been implemented in any country. OLAWUYI RACETT NIGERIA LTD., WELLINGTON SQUARE, OXFORD, OX1 2JD, LONDON UNITED KINGDOM RC14668218 is the first company to invent and create an Infrared Blood Glucose Measuring Device that is capable of performing as well as the standard lancet finger-pricking technology that is the GOLD STANDARD for blood glucose measurement in the Medical Industry today. The Infrared Glucometer in the MEDLINK device has been calibrated against and FDA approved lancet finger-pricking glucometer (PAAS Glucose Monitoring System).
5. PULSE RATE: MEDLINK acquires the pulse rate of a patient within SEVEN seconds of inserting the patient's finger in the appropriate slot in the MEDLINK DEVICE.
6. BLOOD OXYGEN SATURATION (SPO2) - MEDLINK acquires the Blood Oxygen Saturation rate of a patient within TEN seconds of inserting the patient's finger in the appropriate slot in the MEDLINK DEVICE using infrared technology.
7. ELECTOMYOGRAPHY - Depending on the exact muscle group that the Physician desires to monitor a particular patient, MEDLINK instructs the patients on where to place the EMG sensor pads, and then directs them on which muscle movement to make in order to test and calibrate the strength of their muscle in terms of the intensity of the signal measured by the EMG Sensors. This process takes about a FULL MINUTE in order for MEDLINK to obtain the muscle strength in the patient's arm, leg or anywhere else the Physican deems fit.
8. BODY TEMPERATURE - MEDLINK acquires the Body Temperature of a patient within TEN seconds of inserting the patient's finger in the appropriate slot in the DEVICE.
9. Spirometric Data - MEDLINK acuires the respiratory data for a patient through the insertion of a finger into the appropriate slot in the MEDLINK device. The Respiratory Data acquired include the following: FEV1, FVC, and FEV1/FVC Ratio.

The pocket-sized MEDLINK device can be used to provide health care access to those with disabilities, because it is easy to use, provides verbal instructions to the user and can be operated with the placement of a single finger. It can be used by individuals that are unconnected to the medical field and are unable to obtain medical coverage, be it due to their remote access location(s) or a lack of financial means. This is possible because the device is remotely operated and requires little input from the Physician to provide access to basic health care, and it can be operated by the user from any location they reside in.
MEDLINK assists in early and real-time detection of illness, prevention of worsening of illnesses and untimely deaths, cost reduction in hospitalization, and reduction in the number of hospitalizations [REFERENCE 1-2]. The number and cost of ER visits and hospitalizations is significantly reduced for patients with COPD or CHF using Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM), and we expect MEDLINK to have the same effect on patietns with COPD, CHF, and other illnesses.

MEDLINK is a pocket-sized, verbally interactive, programmable medical device that allows physicians to remotely monitor any and all of the following Physiological Parameters for any individual:
1. Electrocardiography (ECG)
2. Blood Pressure
3. Heart Rate
4. Blood Glucose
5. Pulse Rate
6. Blood Oxygen Saturation (SPO2),
7.Electromyography (EMG)
8. Body Temperature
9. Respiratory Data.
This data is transmitted to the Physician's email. MEDLINK has its own custom software that is used to display the patient's data and to perform automated health analysis on the patient's data that is received by the Physician.
MEDLINK verbally interacts with the Physician to acquire the specific physiological parameters the physician wishes to monitor for a particular patient. After successful programming, the physician can then hand over MEDLINK to the patient for them to take home for Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) monitoring.
When the patient gets home and switches on the device, MEDLINK verbally greets him or her by name and then guides the patient through the process of
acquiring the physician-requested data, transmits it to the physician’s
phone and e-mail, and allows for physician-patient communication if
there are data abnormalities detected by the physician. The Physician
has the ability to send such physician-patient communication via text messages to the MEDLINK device, and these messages are read aloud to the patient by the MEDLINK device whenever it is turned on. The verbal interaction ensures that the patient does not need to look at a device manual before he or she can eff ectively use MEDLINK for Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM).

The core technology powering the MEDLINK Device include the following:
1. Artificial Intelligence (AI)
2. Internet of Things (IoT)
3. SMS and Email Technology
4. Custom Medical Software
