The International Diabetes Federation reports that approximately 537 million adults between 20 and 79 years old live with diabetes and the total number of people with diabetes is expected to increase to 643 million in 2030. 90% type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and 10% live with type 1 diabetes (DM1).
Three-quarters of people with diabetes live in low- and middle-income countries, so maintaining glycemic control becomes more complex every day due to the economic costs that the disease entails.
In the tenth edition of the Atlas of the International Diabetes Federation, which includes data from 215 countries, it was reported that 108,300 children under 15 years of age were diagnosed with DM1 in 2021, it is estimated that 1,211,900 children and adolescents under 20 years of age have DM1 worldwide. In 2016, Mexico ranked sixth in the world in children with DM1 (542 thousand children) and it is estimated that 78 thousand infants develop DM1 each year.
Today, almost 500 million people in different parts of the world live with DM2. In 2019, 7.7 billion of the total world population was diagnosed with DM2 and it is estimated that by 2030 this figure will increase to 8.6 billion, also more than four million people between 20 and 79 years of age have died cause of diabetes in 2019.
One of the acute complications of this disease is hypoglycemia, which is the concentration equal to or decreased to 70 mg/dl of glucose in the blood. Most diabetic patients will present this type of acute complication in the course of their disease, within which short-term damage can occur such as cardiovascular events, neurological damage, trauma and death. The treatment of hypoglycemia is generally based on: recognizing the autonomic and neutropenic symptoms, confirming whether there is hypoglycemia by measuring blood glucose, depending on this it must be determined whether it is a mild or severe hypoglycemia and therefore, determining What will be the consumption of rapidly absorbed carbohydrates.
Patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus have an average of two symptomatic episodes per week and one episode of severe hypoglycemia once a year.
Within the disease, it is worth remembering that not only high glucose peaks affect the patient's life, but low glucose levels even become more dangerous.

I created a gel specifically designed to meet the needs experienced by patients diagnosed with Diabetes. As a patient with type 1 diabetes, I set out to find solutions to the problems that we, as patients, experience every day. This gel effectively resolves hypoglycemia events, addressing a possible subsequent peak, but it is also a product that will adapt to the patients' finances, since, due to the complexity of the disease, many patients cannot follow the treatment correctly. So I have tested the product myself throughout the entire process we have been working on the project.
To solve a hypoglycemia event, it is necessary to consume 15g of simple carbohydrates, waiting 15 minutes later to analyze if the glucose is stable. By evaluating the Brix degrees, the availability of the sugars present in the gel was determined; In 100 ml of gel there are 30 g of sugars, therefore, in 50 ml of gel (content of each sachet) 15 g of sugars are present, thus covering the patient's needs.
The combination that we achieved with natural ingredients (tapioca syrup and honey) positively helps the patient, since it also contains a contribution of phosphorus, magnesium and B complex vitamins. Extracted from the cassava root, a better alternative than the artificial sweeteners commonly used in the market, instant source of energy, totally organic, a new ingredient with great future projection for use within the food industry.
The first time the patients consumed the hyperglycemic gel, capillary glucose values increased by an average of 48 to 136 mg/dL in 15 minutes.
Of all the patients, 100% had a favorable response after consumption of the hyperglycemic gel, having an average glucose increase of 89 mg/dL during hypoglycemic events in the six-month evaluation. According to the previous data, a significant increase in glucose levels was obtained after ingesting the formulated ger. Therefore, the gel fulfilled its hyperglycemic function. Regarding the symptoms of hypoglycemia, the patients mentioned that after consuming the gel the symptoms were reduced to the elimination of sweating, palpitations, fatigue and anxiety specifically.
Usually, patients with Diabetes present hypoglycemia, which affects our lifestyle, by being able to provide a tool for a common but poorly attended problem, patients benefit from wearing a “life diaper”, since it is easy to transport , with an expiration life of one year, thanks to its action, patients after 15 minutes of consumption could return to carrying out their activities effectively, eliminating the patient's symptoms and also taking care of the peaks that commonly occur when consumed. of other products.
Unfortunately in Mexico we do not have health systems that help with different pathologies, which is why we have been displaced, there is no importance, nor the necessary knowledge, nor the necessary resources.
Thanks to the experience as part of this community, I can observe the problem from an internal perspective, understanding the problem more completely. Thanks to my educational training, I acquired foundations that will help me innovate, design and analyze this new product, offering a tool that Think about every aspect of the life of a patient with Diabetes.
As a team we have worked together developing each of their skills to provide this project with the best possible quality, a capable team that understands the complexity and everything related to pathology, with knowledge for structuring the formulation, as well as for Analysis of information. A team that, thanks to the study of this problem and its training, is close to this population, that thanks to the progress of this research realized the displacement and lack of importance and information around these patients, creating not only a tool, but also a network of support and understanding in the face of this complication
- Increase access to and quality of health services for medically underserved groups around the world (such as refugees and other displaced people, women and children, older adults, and LGBTQ+ individuals).
- 3. Good Health and Well-Being
- 8. Decent Work and Economic Growth
- 10. Reduced Inequalities

Thanks to the work carried out with “Panal de vida” we have been able to reach the lives of different patients around the Mexican Republic. During the last six months we carried out tests with 60 patients, in states such as Oaxaca, Tamaulipas, Puebla, Mexico City and Campeche.
Our application to this forum will allow us to use all possible connections and resources, since as major barriers we do not have access to partners with the capacity to help us enter the market, in the same way the advice for the acquisition of complete permits to its production as well as being able to instruct us in everything that is necessary to be able to analyze results on a larger scale, a network that helps us so that more people know us and want to be part of this project, reaching more patients every day, saving and significantly changing their lives.

Panal de vida as one of its main virtues, the preparation with natural ingredients, mainly tapioca syrup as one of the newest tools within the food industry, a product that, unlike those already existing in the markets, seeks to take care of the economy of their patients, speaking of costs, a sachet of life panel gel has an approximate production cost of $10 Mexican pesos to be able to offer to the public at $20 Mexican pesos a little less than a US dollar, easily accessible regardless of the level of social class of the patient, existing products range from $64 to $1000 Mexican pesos per unit. Within the population with Diabetes, this is a complete innovation, most of the existing products have a focus on high-performance athletes, so the peak after their consumption is reflected in greater significance in a diabetic patient”, Panel of life” by focusing totally on the pathology makes it not only another product but a solution to a specific problem.
The use of the “Panal de vida” gel will stabilize glucose levels in the event of hypoglycemia that all patients with diabetes inevitably experience.
What will our program do?
We will seek to reach this population through our medical team and the project will be publicized for a broader reach.
The manufacturing of the product will be carried out depending on the number of customers for distribution in adequate quantities.
The collection of patient data will be needed in the event of the greatest number of hyoglycemic events, to perform an analysis that will allow us to continue improving the evaluation and performance of the gel on a quarterly basis.
A way is sought to market the product through investors within the interested area.
Our Project is part of the 17 goals of sustainable development, where health and well-being is our main objective, improving the quality of life of the patient in a population that is displaced, since the importance to the lifestyle that we as patients need, to the need for accessible resources, also seeks to reduce the inequalities that sadly occur in this population, we live within a society where the lack of information makes us not be empathetic with the life of others, Panal de vida is the clear answer to an ignored problem, a problem that is so recurring and that often incapacitates the patient.
Mainly we made use of ancestral knowledge about tapioca syrup and honey to make practical use, using laboratory methodologies that allowed the development of the product.

Thanks to the fact that at Panal de Vida we have professionals who make up the team, we have been able to find balance in each area to be developed, our work area is based on respect, knowing the strengths of each of the professionals a chain of support without being inclusive, but rather a safe place where each idea or opinion led us to this forum, I was able to find in each of them the necessary support to endorse the work that I will start as part of my thesis, thanks also to their knowledge Panal de Life is today a more real and very well-functioning idea, our approach has become unified and thanks to this we advance faster.
Our business plan mainly benefits our patients, since one of my personal approaches was to think about the patient's economy, rather than thinking about profits and benefits, we seek to give rise to empathy with all related aspects, which is why Panal de life stands out, costing at the hands of our clients is our primary purpose.
As life honeycomb entrepreneurs, one of our plans to be able to start a movement within the industry is to seek links with the market, facilitating commercial relationships that help us find suitable contacts to be able to produce at scale. We are looking for business support for our new product.
Even thinking about our objectives, we are willing to offer services to our clients, those who cannot have access to the product, as part of medical care for our patients, alliances to enter some public or government service system, also bringing benefits in their larger scale production.
- Individual consumers or stakeholders (B2C)
We seek our objective reach to impact many more people in this community, including the way to access government services in which our product has greater recognition and is easier to access.
In an income model, sell our product to companies with the distribution capacity, look for pharmaceutical companies interested in seeking to have a greater reach towards this population, find donations from associations for the growth of the project, a unit cost for all purchases of the product, it is That is, look for access to be the same for all clients
Input efficiency is improved when producing at scale, since some ingredients are better priced in large quantities, we can also be flexible to produce, such as looking for an organization capable of producing the product more quickly and in greater quantity.
Through the analysis and field study carried out, we can compare the quality of the project, since one of the main qualities of the gel is the production cost, which is why the cost to the public becomes very accessible and so the investment return It also becomes prompt.
