Premier Internal Senior Care Quality Rating Service
- United States
- For-profit, including B-Corp or similar models
In 2020, the United States saw approximately 41.8 million family caregivers, 61% of whom were also employed. These caregivers face challenges in accessing real-time data about care facilities when deciding on placements for their loved ones. Additionally, after placement, they often lack affordable third-party care assessment services to validate and monitor their loved one's health condition in real time, complicating their navigation of the healthcare landscape. Research shows that delays in decision-making for long-term care and addressing declining health conditions can lead to adverse outcomes for caregivers and patients alike.
Approximately 7 million distant caregivers are overwhelmed by data overload, struggling to discern trusted information and remain informed about their loved one's care from afar. Academic studies shed light on family caregivers' experiences in care settings like nursing homes and assisted living facilities. These studies underscore the desire of caregivers to be better informed about their loved one's health condition within care communities.
Communication and information-sharing are vital for high-quality care for residents and their families. Many caregivers express a desire to be more involved in their loved one's care and have access to timely and accurate information to support their caregiving role.
We have built a digital health platform that simplifies the process of finding a nurse to check on a loved one in a care facility and computes an internal score for care facilities, utilizing real-time data from current residents. These scores are aggregated from reports from skilled nurses hired by families and open-source datasets from state regulators, enabling quick access to critical information for expedited decision-making in care facility selection. Families with a loved one already placed in a care facility they can now assess their loved one's care conditions in real-time, determine if the facility still meets their needs, and escalate issues as necessary, without minimum hour requirements, ensuring affordability and accessibility. These internal scores are shared with local senior care advisors, families, and state programs, enhancing transparency and empowering informed choices in senior care.
CaringPort is dedicated to improving the lives of families navigating the complexities of senior care placement, particularly those facing challenges in accessing affordable and unbiased care assessment services. The target population includes families with elderly loved ones in need of care facilities and informal caregivers providing support.
Currently, these individuals are underserved due to limited access to timely and comprehensive information about care facilities. Many struggle to find accessible nurses for assessments, leading to prolonged decision-making processes and uncertainty. Additionally, affordability is a significant concern, with many unable to afford private services or minimum-hour requirements imposed by other alternatives.
CaringPort's solution addresses these needs by offering a digital platform that computes internal scores for care facilities based on real-time data from current residents. The platform aggregates reports from skilled nurses and state regulators' datasets and provides families with critical information for expedited decision-making. This empowers families to assess their loved one's care conditions, determine facility suitability, and promptly address any issues. Moreover, the solution eliminates minimum-hour requirements, ensuring affordability and accessibility for all families.
The CaringPort team is uniquely positioned to deliver our solution due to our collective expertise in healthcare, technology, and business strategy. At present, we've completed the backend development of our interface and opted to temporarily halt front-end development to prioritize manual operations initially to better understand the customer's behavior. This approach allows us to focus on hands-on execution. Currently, we're in discussions with a local Assisted Living Community, firmly in the prototype stage as we refine our approach.
