Tek! mobile app provides families with a curated list of their transactions, purchases, and consumption, by automatically harvesting that data from retail stores and service providers giving in-app intelligent consumption, purchase, and waste disposal guidance based on product data sheets, using data points like product ingredient and pricing.
Tek! provides families with product and billing data and advice before, during, and after purchases in retail and online shops. The users can access the product data when the connect their Tek! app with stores retail point of sale app.
Along with the app, we will also work with the existing retail point-of-sale and e-Commerce solution providers to share data with Tek! app. The retails shops will be able to use Tek! analytics to manage their stocks and supply chain with distributors and manufacturers.
We will provide details of nutrition and carbon rating for products for Tek! user families to make purchase decisions. Consumer families can accumulate social and redeemable points for purchasing nutritious and low carbon products.
Tek! allows families to log their gadgets and usage pattern energy and water and link to utility providers to get meter and usage history. Based on this data, Tek! families will receive intelligent advice on energy and water conservation.
Tek! data and behavioural messaging will help families improve their awareness, action, and motivation towards adopting a sustainable consumption practices among urban consumers.
Consumers are aware of the ill effect on nutrition, waste generation, and sustainability on the products they consume. However, they lack relevant and timely information that enable them to take decisions.
Before, during, and after they make their purchase decision, it is not practical for the consumers to decide how their purchases impact a low carbon product supply chain. With Tek! consumers will get simulated bills with colors highlighting individual products for easy decision making.
Guidance, information, and messaging through mobile phones are well accepted by users around the globe. If users find that product data available in Tek! is reliable, genuine and good for their overall well-being, they will use the app for product selection based on nutrition, price, brand and other factors.
If more and more Tek! users tend to depend on the information,
retail stores are likely to provide stocks and increase sales for the products
which are nutritious and low carbon for the consumers. This in turn sends a
strong signal for the product distributors and manufacturers to improve their
supply chain and manufacturing methods.
When millions of Tek! users will use data labels in deciding their purchase of products, it will impact supply chain making products more nutritious and low-carbon. It will benefit consumers, as well as manufacturers. Tek! app is marketed through retail stores.
By year 3, we expect to reach about 40M users and 1 million retail stores in urban India. The Tek! will provide access to details of 100,000 products, including product ingredient, pricing, packaging, and carbon data. Over 3 years period, Tek! will help consumers make 50% improvements on their purchase and consumption based on nutrition and carbon generation.

- With Tek! everyone will now have their electronic data related to purchase, consumption, and activities in a single place.
- Till date, everyone had to depend on their providers – be it retail store for bill and warranties, manufacturers for product data, health facility for health and diagnosis data – to access electronic copies of their own activities and transactions.
- Currently, there is no “effective” method to adopt principles of digital advertisements for consumer packaged goods (CPGs) and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) by retail stores and to some extent by manufacturers.
We are researching on the idea taking constant feedback from the target users of the mobile app – women, families, husbands at lower and upper middle class in urban India. We are developing alternate prototypes in paper cards to get feedback from the users and translate these into wire frames. We will make the app available in as many languages as possible.
Tek! mobile app is popularized through retail stores where we will connect the existing or new PoS through our sales agents. Retail stories will guide their consumers in installing and using the app in their phones. It will work offline to connect store PoS and get the billing data.
