IPRights4All(TM) Solution - Platform as a Software Service
- United States
- For-profit, including B-Corp or similar models
T-I-L® is contributing to capturing $1 trillion in additional yearly US gross domestic product growth by disrupting structural barriers to intellectual property (IP) rights creation and ownership, for entrepreneurs from marginalized and underrepresented communities. International Monetary Fund and World Bank data show comparable opportunities globally. There are ample constitutional legislative, and treaty agreements that are building blocks as evidenced by the image shown below*. Our work confirms those projections based on work with clients in Africa, Asia and the US. We are helping clients to create and monetize innovation, in the form of intangible assets, today as a digital service. Additionally, we have built minimum viable product components and are seeking resources to scale the solution and to make it a digital product that connects with global financial ecosystems.
Our solution is making it easier and less costly to protect and to monetize their innovation. The goal is to support 2.7 million entrepreneurs in creating $5.4 billion of their own financial value. The work supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, indicating global opportunity. Results show that the business is energizing creativity, addressing global challenges, and can deliver a financial return too.
For Phase I, as of 2023 we estimate the IPRights4All(TM) Solution
had helped 109 underrepresented creatives and entrepreneurs to create
$43 million (US) of their own financial value. With MIT Solve support
we believe we can scale the results as a global social enterprise. Some
literature indicates that this solution may benefit 30% or more of the
global population when all phases are deployed. In Phase I we are
focusing on demographic "Generation Z" for the digital product launch.

Aspirations and economic opportunities are the documented benefits of the IPRights4All(TM) Solution. Often those benefits occur on a spectrum, starting with Awareness, followed by Access, Affordability and the Availability of a potential return on investment in the creative/entrepreneur terms. These findings are based on research. We call them the "Four As" of the journey. That journey is represented by the chart (below) showing actual clients that have given permission to share their images and stories.

In general the audience demographics are diverse, and story driven. Offerings are available to all. Resources are invested in reaching marginalized and
underrepresented entrepreneurs. Select client demographics are: 95%
people of color, 60% women, 50% small business or startup, 25% social
impact, 25% creative, age range 7 - 67, income public housing to
middle-class, residing 61% (US), 35% (Asia), 4% (Africa). Simply put, the benefits include the creation of marketable intangible assets that may be traded for financial inclusion and generational wealth building. In Phase I of
the IPRights4All(TM) Digital Product launch we are focusing on
demographic "Generation Z" where it makes sense.
T-I-L(R) is positioned to capture this opportunity, and to solve the
problem, because we are engaged in the communities served directly,
through partners, and via our own personally diverse life experiences.
About 90% of our team are from historically marginalized and
underrepresented communities. The countries of origin include Korea,
Nigeria, US and Vietnam. Further, we have complemented the life
experience foundation with primary research, leveraging "client centric"
and "wrap around service" models from participation in research
programs with: National Science Foundation/George Washington University
and Georgetown University. Finally we work through partners that are
active in the communities (i.e., people of color, public housing
residents, women, etc.) we serve and have the benefit of working
directly with over 100 clients. T-I-L(R) is well positioned because we
are actually executing in a documented and impactful way. We can be
better. Working with MIT Solve is a potential co-creation that can
appreciate the value of the work.

IPRights4All(TM) was launched by the social impact law firm as an intellectual property rights digital service and has served 100+ clients. The work is: 1. informed by experience and prior inquiry, as evidenced by the presentation given to the Georgetown University Alumni Association previously (below) and based on research findings from the I-Corp Program, funded by the National Science Foundation and administered by George Washington University; 2. Informed by Client Centric Design learning from Georgetown University; and multiple rounds of customer-market validation conducted with the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center "Milestone Maker" and Capital One Bank. Through the journey a portfolio of experience, intellectual property and knowledge was developed. The portfolio includes Copyright, Patent, Trademark and Trade Secret assets. Those assets, and others, were combined with funding from the Inclusive Innovation Equity Impact Fund (IIEIF) to "spin-out" and create the social impact IP legal tech startup T-I-L-Group, Benefit Corporation on January 11, 2024. T-I-L-Group is developing software to enhance the scalability of the IPRights4All(TM) Solution as an IPR Platform as a Service, available to individual clients and to allies/organizations that seek to use the software as a potentially profitable way to serve a historically under-served market.
To date T-I-L-Group has:
- Conducted "Alpha" software testing
- Achieved agreements with Beta Test Clients /Allies (ranging in # from 19 - 200*+) *the "19" includes two large organizations with access to several hundred additional testers
- Planned and started execution of "go to market" activities, featuring clients and allies (those that have given permission)
- Achieved acceptance, through competitive process, into the University of Maryland Blockchain Accelerator which began April 16

The T-I-L(R) social impact business model is based on the concept of "a rising tide lifts all boats". Our perpetual search is for resources, community and allies in executing our mission. We are capital efficient and open to co-creating and collaborating. Our approach is intentional about connecting and expanding our ecosystem, so that we may provide to our clients and allies "the right resource, at the right price, at the right time". MIT Solve presents a potential ally that brings unique capabilities that advance the win-win-win approach to our work. That uniqueness is why we are investing the time to co-create a better world through intellectual property rights, in concert with MIT Solve.
- Financial (e.g. accounting practices, pitching to investors)
- Human Capital (e.g. sourcing talent, board development)
- Legal or Regulatory Matters
- Monitoring & Evaluation (e.g. collecting/using data, measuring impact)
- Product / Service Distribution (e.g. delivery, logistics, expanding client base)
- Public Relations (e.g. branding/marketing strategy, social and global media)
T-I-L(R) has developed a solution that applies business process
re-engineering to intellectual property rights, inspired in part by the
Stanford Extreme Affordability Design Program. We have proven it at
small scale on three continents. The broader impact catalyst will be to
expand that proof to a larger audience. The literature shows the
global audience that may benefit may be as large as 30% of the
population. It meets people where they are and provides an opportunity
for all to participate in domestic and global economies in ways that are
financially inclusive. The T-I-L(R) IPrights4All(TM) Solution creates
an "all hands on deck" path for people that want to improve their
economic situation and perhaps help others too.
Simply put, the T-I-L(R) business model makes the innovation and economic opportunity, arising from intellectual property rights (IPR), available to all - with a hyper-focus on creatives and entrepreneurs from historically underrepresented communities - through awareness, partnerships and technology. This is not hyperbole. It is client and evidence based reality, building on the experience and research earned from delivering the digital service solution offered by our social impact law practice (www.technology-innovation-law.com). The unique nature and impact of our solution can be summarized in four points:
- $1 Trillion + of annual gross domestic product increase: the economic value of engaging underrepresented US populations to innovate, according to InventTogether.org, with comparable impact outside of the US based on research by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank). Based on the US alone this represents a 1% increase in overall global gross domestic product, with upside from engaging other countries
- "No brainer": a quote understood to have been made by technology entrepreneur and innovator Srikanth Kodeboyina, founder of Blue Eye Space, in recognition of the value of our solution, after awarding a competitive grant to T-I-L(R)
- $25K Pre-Seed Funding: provided by the District of Columbia's Inclusive Innovation Equity Impact Fund (IIEIF), after due diligence, in recognition of the potential arising from our IPR technology software platform. IIEIF is administered by the venture capital firm 1863 Ventures
- University of Maryland Blockchain Accelerator: in April 2024 T-I-L-Group, Benefit Corporation, our IPR legal tech startup launched this year, competed successfully for selection into the 3rd Cohort of the program, providing additional objective evidence of our work to make the world a better place through intellectual property rights
The data and evidence indicate our ability to achieve our interim goal, of supporting 2.7 million creatives and entrepreneurs from under-served communities in creating $5.4 billion of their own financial value by 2030. It also advances the belief that we have a sustainable social enterprise that can scale to become a global stimulant for innovation and value creation as a going concern.
Additionally, as diverse individuals, T-I-L(R) brings a human element that "talks the talks and walks the walk". As professional innovators we have invented and delivered intellectual property rights that created $ millions of financial value for business and government stakeholders. We are creative artist performing music and plays before public audiences. Our origins are from Africa, America and Asia. Ethnically we identify as Asian, Black, Brown, and White. Gender preferences are female, male and undeclared. Economically our birth family budgets may be described as public housing to upper middle class. Finally, two unifying characteristics shared are a passion for learning and for using our diverse life experiences and journeys in doing this work. We know the power of intellectual property rights "first hand". The evidence and authentic personal experience(s) are reasons MIT Solve should select T-I-L(R) and co-create with us in making the solution available to the target audience around the globe...to create economic opportunity for people throughout the world.
T-I-L® IPRights4All Solution Digital Service has delivered $24 thousand in estimated average financial value per client as of the end of the year 2021. The average financial value has increased driven by market prices value events of $750 thousand and $40 million (2023), in addition to other macro and micro economic impacts. We expect the Digital Product to accelerate the value creation by enhancing scalable access to the capabilities.

Diversity is in the T-I-L(R) DNA. What we do is available to all. We invest resources in reaching out for engagement with people from historically underrepresented communities. That approach combines with the T-I-L(R) "Triple Launch Policy" (TLP) to deliver the diverse team of people doing the work, evidenced by images shown below. The TLP is that we commit and act to support the aspirations of our: clients and mission, team members, and allies / funders / stakeholders - while they are actively working with T-I-L(R) and / or without, going forward. The TLP has resulted in documented career and economic progress for our community and ecosystem. It is also a munificent circle, creating longer-term advocates of the mission and prospective allies and users of the technology to continue serving the target audience.
T-I-L(R) people include staff, contractors, interns, and volunteers that support the mission. Their diverse life experiences are representative of benefits that diversity, equity and inclusion bring to democratizing intellectual property rights for all - not just those with the means to access them currently.
"A picture is worth a thousand words" has often been said. The images below are representative. T-I-L(R) started as a social impact IP law practice. It did research, raised funding, and transferred knowledge to a social IP legal tech startup - T-I-L-Group, Benefit Corporation that has both funder and impact duties in its charter. The diversity of the people currently and/or previously doing this work is presented in the pictures below.
For the T-I-L-Group, Benefit launch team, we have Antonio, Chris and Cybel working day-to-day, with Adham leading a project to complete the filing of a utility patent to advance a provisional "patent pending" status of an invention developed to enhance the value of our technology. Hyeonggyu and Zainab are volunteers, assisting with digital content and patent research, respectively. T-I-L-Group is the applicant that directly advances the economic impact work for this Solving opportunity. It work is supported by others as appropriate.
