Cooperatives play a crucial role in the Moroccan economy, contributing to job creation, poverty reduction, the promotion of social entrepreneurship and the sustainable development of local communities.
An analysis of these figures, issued by the Office du Développement de la Coopération (ODCO - Morocco's supervisory body for cooperatives), reveals several significant aspects of the cooperative situation in Morocco. Firstly, the high number of cooperatives in the country bears witness to the importance of this economic model in Morocco's socio-economic structure.
With 53,856 cooperatives and 723,339 members, these organizations play a crucial role in a wide range of sectors, from agriculture to commerce to handicrafts.
However, the representation of women's cooperatives, although significant, remains relatively low, representing only 13.66% of the total number of cooperatives. Similarly, the percentage of female members within these women's cooperatives is also modest, representing just 9.63% of the total membership. These figures underline the persistent challenges faced by women in accessing and participating in cooperative initiatives in Morocco.
This under-representation of women in cooperatives could be attributed to a range of factors, including socio-economic and cultural inequalities, barriers to accessing resources and funding, as well as traditional social norms and gender roles that often limit women's participation in economic spheres. Consequently, it becomes imperative to take measures to empower women in the cooperative sector, in order to promote greater equity and inclusiveness in the Moroccan economy.
The Moroccan Magic project is designed to support cooperatives in a number of strategic areas, all aimed at strengthening their market presence and raising their profile with consumers. Firstly, the implementation of a digital e-commerce platform will offer cooperatives an efficient and accessible online sales channel. This platform will enable them to present their products attractively, manage online orders and payments, and ensure a seamless purchasing experience for customers. By facilitating access to national and international markets, this platform offers cooperatives a valuable opportunity to expand their customer base and increase sales. In parallel, the project plans to promote the cooperatives' products through social networks, using targeted digital marketing strategies. Social networks offer a powerful way of reaching a wide audience and creating engagement with consumers. By developing an active presence on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, cooperatives will have the opportunity to share their story, showcase their products and create direct relationships with their customers. What's more, by using techniques such as targeted advertising and digital influencers, the project will help cooperatives raise their profile and reach new market segments.
The Moroccan Magic solution is aimed primarily at women's and rural cooperatives in Morocco. Currently, these cooperatives are often underserved in terms of market access and digital visibility. Our solution aims to bridge this gap by offering customized support to effectively use social networks and digital platforms to promote their products. By offering them an enhanced online presence, we increase their visibility and accessibility to local and international markets, opening up new business opportunities and significantly improving their livelihoods.
Our team is multidisciplinary in order to respond to the different challenges of the project. The team is made up of women artisans who have a great knowledge of the challenges, barriers and needs of women in this sector, as well as profiles with many years of commercial experience. The project manager has over 15 years' experience in supporting cooperatives and the inclusion of women and young people in rural areas. The team's combined skills enable us to identify the different needs of women's cooperatives and develop inclusive solutions and programs to achieve the project's objectives.

- Design of a pilot digital e-commerce platform
- Mobilization of partners from the private sector (Groupe Intelcia, Groupe MFD), and NGOs (Assafae for sustainable development, Réseau Tamkine for women, Tacharouk, FNACE...), and the mobilization of cooperatives from different regions of Morocco (15 cooperatives, and 20 artisans).
- More than 10 solidarity fairs and 5 commercial operations in collaboration with the private sector.
- Awareness campaign for the consumer community on solidarity purchases.
I'm applying to Solve because I firmly believe in the power of innovation to solve social challenges. Our project, Moroccan Magic, faces a number of obstacles, including financial, commercial and technical, to effectively support women's and rural cooperatives. These obstacles include the lack of financial resources to develop our digital initiatives, the possibility of export support leads, and the need for technical expertise to maximize the impact of our actions. We hope that Solve can help us overcome these challenges by connecting us to partners offering financial, commercial and technical support, as well as providing us with access to a wider network of mentors and experts. We are determined to create lasting positive change, and believe that Solve can help us realize this vision of "technology for sustainable development".

Our solution, Moroccan Magic, stands out for its holistic approach to strengthening women's and rural cooperatives in Morocco. By combining market access through social networks and digital platform with capacity building, we offer a comprehensive solution that goes beyond simple product promotion. By integrating elements of training, personalized coaching and digital skills development, we ensure that cooperatives are equipped for long-term success.
This innovative approach could catalyze wider positive impacts by encouraging other players in the economic development space to adopt similar models focused on empowerment and inclusion. By building the capacity of cooperatives, our solution could create a domino effect by improving the livelihoods of many rural communities in Morocco, helping to reduce economic inequality and boost the local economy.
Ultimately, Moroccan Magic could transform the landscape for women's economic empowerment and rural development, making cooperatives key players in the Moroccan economy and stimulating more inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
Moroccan Magic, will make an impact by following a four-step approach:
1. Training and capacity building: We will provide in-depth training to women's and rural cooperatives on how to use social networks and digital platforms to promote their products and access markets. This step aims to build their skills and confidence in using these tools.
2. Market access: By helping cooperatives establish an effective online presence, we will facilitate their access to a wider market, including local and international markets. This will enable them to increase their sales and revenues.
3. Economic empowerment:By increasing the sales and revenues of cooperatives, we will help to improve their financial autonomy and strengthen their position in the local economy. This will have a direct impact on the lives of cooperative members, providing them with sustainable livelihoods and reducing their economic dependence.
4. Multiplier effects: The positive impact of our solution is not limited to individual cooperatives, but spreads to their surrounding communities. By building the capacity of cooperatives and stimulating their economic growth, we will help create a more dynamic ecosystem for rural development and women's empowerment in Morocco.
Moroccan Magic's impact objectives are as follows:
1. Increase in cooperative sales: Measured by the number of products sold via digital channels and revenues generated.
2. Empowerment of cooperative members: Measured by indicators such as participation in training, acquisition of digital skills and level of confidence in using digital tools.
3. Increased online visibility: Tracked by number of followers on social networks, website traffic and reach of publications.
4. Economic impact on communities: Measured by indicators such as increased household income, additional job creation and improved local infrastructure.
We will measure progress by regularly collecting data on these indicators through surveys of partner cooperatives, online data analysis and interviews with members of beneficiary communities.
The core technology that powers our solution is based on the use of digital platforms and communication tools to facilitate access by women's and rural cooperatives to the markets and resources necessary for their economic development. We use information and communication technologies to create efficient distribution networks, promote the visibility of local products and raise consumer awareness of the importance of supporting these marginalized communities. We also work with cooperatives to develop new technologies that improve product quality (production standards, ecological and recyclable packaging, etc.).

2- Part-time team: 4 women
We've been working on the solution for 3 years.
we started with a field survey to collect needs and analyze barriers to women's access to national and international markets, then we began to develop the solution through consultations with various stakeholders and players.
Since the idea was born, we've been convinced that we have a solution that's open to everyone's contribution.
80% of our team is made up of women, including craftswomen, illiterate people and people with master's degrees and over 15 years' experience. The diversity of our profiles and geographical backgrounds enables us to take into account all the obstacles and needs at different levels, and to develop solutions that respond to the various targets.
Moroccan Magic's business model is based on creating value for the women's and rural cooperatives we serve, as well as generating income to ensure the sustainability of our initiative.
Our main beneficiaries are women's and rural cooperatives in Morocco. We offer them several products and services:
1. Training and coaching: We offer in-depth training on how to use social networks and digital platforms to promote their products and access markets. We also provide personalized coaching to help them put the skills they have learned into practice.
2. Online promotion: We help cooperatives create and manage an effective online presence through social networks and websites, publishing engaging content and interacting with their target audience.
3. Market access: We facilitate cooperatives' access to local and international markets by using digital channels to promote their products and connecting them with potential buyers.
- Individual consumers or stakeholders (B2C)
Our plan for achieving financial sustainability revolves around a multi-faceted approach:
Revenue Streams: We aim to diversify our revenue streams by offering fee-based services such as advanced training workshops, consulting services for digital marketing strategies, and commission-based sales through our online platform. This allows us to generate income while providing valuable support to the cooperatives.
Partnerships and Grants: We actively seek partnerships with governmental agencies, NGOs, and corporate sponsors who share our mission of empowering rural women cooperatives. These partnerships can provide financial support through grants, sponsorships, or collaborative projects.
Product Sales: We receive a percentage of the sales made through our online platform, serving as a commission for facilitating transactions between cooperatives and buyers. As our platform grows and attracts more users, this revenue stream is expected to increase.
Cost Management: We prioritize efficient use of resources and keep our operational costs low by leveraging technology and digital tools for communication, project management, and marketing.
