Grassroots-led Economic Research
- United States
- For-profit, including B-Corp or similar models
Income inequality has been an issue for years, and we always look to politicians, the government, or non-profits to solve the problem. What if this age-old problem could be solved by the grassroots sector instead of depending on the government or politicians? More specifically, what if we can deploy new technology, such as the blockchain, to nurture, motivate, and facilitate this grassroots-led solution?
Think of it this way:
- When considering the internet, smart phones, and social media, society is more connected now than ever before in history.
- However, most of this well-connected society is still living paycheck-to-paycheck with little to no savings or assets.
- So, how do we use this internet connectivity that’s accessible to the masses to make it easier for the masses to create more wealth for themselves?
As we answer and address this question on a large scale, we solve the income inequality problem on a large scale.
The solution matrix is below.
Our solution involves mobilizing the grassroots sector to collaborate and help carry out this economic research mission objective: to conduct grassroots-led economic research into how to apply the internet and other information technology to help the masses increase their workplace income at least 3 times over.
We deploy a comprehensive four-stage business plan to introduce, motivate, and encourage participation and dialog among the grassroots sector. We currently have several educational and operational videos online, as required, to introduce this system to the general public.
For this MIT Solve submission, the video link below offers a quick snapshot of the mission focus and operations involved.

This is a solution designed a address income inequality on a large scale. For this reason, the solution serves the grassroots general and business public.
I'm the project lead. The business models and details associated with the economic research campaign date back to 2004 and my MBA thesis. Over the years, I've conducted independent, self-directed research to develop and finalize the models.
- Generate new economic opportunities and buffer against economic shocks for workers, including good job creation, workforce development, and inclusive and attainable asset ownership.
- 1. No Poverty
- 8. Decent Work and Economic Growth
- 10. Reduced Inequalities
- Prototype
We have a prototype online infrastructure in place consisting of several educational and operational websites. We are using this infrastructure to introduce the mission objectives and get buy-in. Buy-in energizes the crowdfunding models.
We are in the infancy stage of promotion and getting buy-in the mission objective. As of this submission, we have 0 active participants.
Here's a link to the current online infrastructure:
Our biggest challenge is getting exposure for this grassroots-led economic research campaign among the grassroots sector. This is primarily due to the lack of funding to launch a public relations campaign.
We are experimenting with how to cut through the noise on social media platforms to jump start word-of-mouth promotion. However, this is a slow process without adequate funds to promote and/or hire the right social media influencers.
Therefore, the core value Solve can offer is to help us jumpstart word-of-mouth promotion among the business and technical communities, which will energize the crowdfunding models. Once crowdfunding ramps up, research and operations will expand according to operational plans.
This involves getting buy-in for the mission objective among the MIT Solve community and associated cohorts. The bottom line: Is the mission objective noted above something your community wants to support?
- Public Relations (e.g. branding/marketing strategy, social and global media)
These two attributes make our solution innovative:
1) We introduce and teach new peer-to-peer collaboration and co-creation business models to the general public, which are required to effectively conduct the research.
2) In the advanced stages of operation, we introduce new financing and crowdfunding solutions based on new applications of blockchain technology.
This is a grassroots-led economic research campaign designed to address income inequality on a large scale, and the grassroots public will be the primary beneficiaries. In other words, the grassroots public will be directly involved and engaged in the research via peer-to-peer collaboration and co-creation dialogue online.
Our impact goals are defined by the mission objective mentioned above. We operate according to a four stage business plan to meet this objective. Each stage depends on the successful implementation of the previous stage. The business plan associated with each stage defines the impact goals for that stage, which include operational goals and crowdfunding goals.
We use blockchain based solutions to underwrite the supplemental benefits associated with the Empowered Employee Compensation Model (EECM). We refer to this blockchain based solution as the Virtual Income Machines (virtual wages, virtual dividends, virtual bonds and virtual stocks).
This blog post offers more insight into the Virtual Income Machines and how it fits within the Empowered Employee Compensation Model (EECM).

Currently, only self
Part-time or spare time since 2004 via self-directed independent research.
As I grow my team, I will run my organization according to the Empowered Employee Compensation Model (EECM) I introduced in my research. This means all of my team members will be co-owners, which fosters access to opportunity, cohesion, equity, and fairness.
Simply put, my business model involves creating an online platform to enable the grassroots public collaborate in a peer to peer collaboration and co-creation environment and build wealth on the their own time and at their own pace.
- Individual consumers or stakeholders (B2C)
Each stage of the business plan has as a specialized crowdfunding solution. Therefore, as we achieve buy-in to mission objectives among the grassroots public, the crowdfunding models will kick in as applicable.
