Unalivio, an international stablecoin payment system for LatAm
- Mexico
- For-profit, including B-Corp or similar models
Sending remittances is full of uncertainties and troubles; one big issue is not knowing if the money sent has been used to cover the intended necessity. On top of this, sending remittances is time consuming, there are high fees, hidden fees, and in many places the money sent can get stolen, when going through intermediaries.
Unalivio allows migrants to support their loved ones by digitizing payments for specific needs back home. In Latin America alone, there are 30 Million migrants who send around 145 Billion dollars every year, pay around 9 Billion dollars in fees and have to wait thousands of hours for their transactions to arrive home.
These problems are deeper in non-US corridors such as Brazil-Peru; Chile-Venezuela and other smaller ones, where fees can go as high as 20% and waiting times average four hours per transaction. Which is why we are beginning our work in those regions.
In short, sending remittances is expensive, and creates preoccupations for those of us who send them every month.
Unalivio solves the problem of paying for services for family members, by working as a marketplace that operates cross-border, and enables to pay for goods completely, in an easy way.
This works in a similar way to a bill payments system, and leverages stablecoin technology to make international payments into regions where it is impossible for users to have Dollar bank accounts.
This solution enables small and medium businesses in specific locations across Latin America to accept USD payments for their services, and opens up the door to offer more Web3 financial tools such as yield bearing solutions or microloans.
Our payment system is integrated within medium business processes, allowing Unalivio users to pay bills from those medium businesses from abroad, in the local currency of origin. And on the other end, businesses receive payments in Digital Dollar coins, which improves sales and accounts receivable as this process directly allows for remittance money to enter the small business without more intermediaries, and enables Latin American businesses to receive payments in their preferred currency: US Dollars.
We target the ten million migrants in the LatAm region who send 18 billion dollars back home. These money is sent monthly and is the result of working hard as a migrant, from a more financially developed location into a less well-off place.
For these users, sending money back to their families is a process that has an average delay of four hours, includes fees that are as high as twenty percent and have lenghty, multi-step processes that forces users to visit phisical offices and fill out different forms, even though this market is already using digital applications and other telecomunication tools.
Using unalivio will decrease the fees they pay by up to 58%, and eliminate waiting times to around 98% of what they spend today.
Unalivio’s founding team has previously built and implemented payment systems, fintech wallets, loyalty programs, and have sold fintech solutions to medium and large organizations worldwide, with a focus on LatAm. We've marketed similar technology products to hundreds of thousands of potential users.
Given our proximity and deep understanding of the region We have established direct and indirect relationships with many fintech organizartions and companies operating in the region, as well as numerous legacy business operators and fintechs in Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela, Chile, Peru, El Salvador, and the United States; this has enabled us to quickly lay the foundation for our product. These unique connections and expertise will be vital for accelerating growth once we expand our team and resources.
With Unalivio, we're determined to creating a better system for moving money into areas disconnected from the Dollar financial system, not just because of the evident need and business opportunity, but primarily because our families and friends will benefit from it.
In my experience, successful product development in emerging markets requires, among other skills, a deep understanding of local dynamics and problems, along with a robust network of allies for swift solution implementation. Our team’s family roots in these regions will be crucial to address user pain points from a local perspective rather than an idealistic one. Additionally, being connected to modern solutions in developed markets allows us to adapt and replicate similar strategies, tapping into global resources for idea generation, technology, funding, and support.
Our passion to solve financial barriers, our deep market knowledge, global fintech experience, and hunger for success is the fuel that drives us to develop and implement the best products for underserved areas in LatAm.

Unalivio has been live since January of 2024; in the first eight weeks of operations, we have grown our service provider base at around 80% per month, visits to our website have grown at least 300% per month, and transactions are growing close to 50% month over month.
In social media, we grew our audience mostly on Instagram, where we have a community of around 5,000 potential users, which has allowed us to have an email list of close to 500 interested users on our emailing campaigns.
We privately launched our product in January 2024 and sold 340 USD during that first month, and given our growth trend we expect to achieve our first 5,000 monthly revenue USD in Q2 2024.
We reached an agreement to serve the Venezuelan chamber of commerce in Chile, which will allow us to put our product in front of more than 100,000 potential customers, which is expected to go live at the end of Q2 of 2024
We believe that being part of the Solve program has the potential to positively impact and enhance our strengths in several concrete ways.
Firstly, being part of Solve's cohort will enhance awareness of our solution within a broad and influential community dedicated to global improvement. WE recognize that Unalivio is currently relatively unknown, and the validation and exposure of being part of the Solve community will enable us to forge new partnerships and secure added resources, including top guidance from mentors, coaches, and overall grow our business network.
Additionally, as a company operating across borders, we believe that being part of Solve's cohort will provide us with insights and connections to legal advisors and remittance experts. This engagement will allow us to refine our processes preemptively, rather than wait until an external request for improvement is made.
And finally, being part of the Solve ecosystem will allow us to have the amazing opportunity to connect with fellow innovators and entrepreneurs now working with similar growth visions. We know that sharing experiences of both success and failure, we will gain invaluable perspectives that will enrich our journey and enhance our ability to create a positive impact for migrants—the metric by which we measure our success.
In essence, being part of Solve represents an important goal for Unalivio and will be a key step towards realizing our mission, and we are confident that the collective expertise, support, and camaraderie offered by the program will significantly support our efforts to bring positive change to the world.
