STEP ON
Education for children under five is not yet considered important in Indonesia, especially in terms of creativity and problem solving. This happened because of the uneven knowledge and awareness of parents about it. In addition, there are limitations in the means and methods for teaching creativity to children.
Children's creativity can be honed using the LEGO game. But until now only families who are able and wealthy can have LEGO. Our solution is to work with the government and to provide LEGO facilities and to children throughout Indonesia and provide training in learning methods using LEGO to improve children's creativity and problem solving.
90% of children's brain development occurs before the age of 5 years. Education at that time was very influential on the development of the next child. But most children under the age of 5 years in Indonesia get less stimulation of creativity in solving everyday problems. This happened because of the uneven knowledge and awareness of parents about it. In addition, there are limitations in the means and methods for teaching creativity to children.
We collaborate with the government to provide learning support facilities and programs for children to stimulate and train children to recognize shapes, colors, processes, and ultimately problem solving. The main facility that you are submitting is LEGO. With the cooperation with the government, it is hoped that this facility can be used evenly, not only among wealthy families.
In addition to providing LEGO facilities, we also provide trainings on learning methods to improve creativity and problem solving meaning using LEGO as an early childhood education program.
We have run several programs to schools located far from the city center. The school welcomes our program. The children seemed very excited when doing learning outside the classroom with fun activities. These activities are proven to be able to increase children's creativity in solving problems that we provide. Furthermore, this activity will be applied to early childhood.
We use LEGO Mindstorm devices to facilitate children's learning-while-playing activities. Children can recognize colors and shapes at the beginning of their development to hone their problem solving skills in the future.
- Prepare children for primary school through exploration and early literacy skills
- Decrease inequalities, stereotypes, and discrimination, from birth
- Pilot
- New business model or process
This solution describes that LEGO is not just a toy for children. LEGO can be a medium to enhance children's creativity and ability of problem-solving. Since the problem we face in Indonesia is a lack of awareness of parents about children's creativity and problem-solving skills, this solution can be a good start to solve the problem.
Another problem is LEGO can only be owned by children from well off family. This solution aims to make children all around Indonesia with different economic status can have same opportunity to escalate their creativity and ability of problem-solving with LEGO.
We use LEGO Mindstorm as core technology in this learning.

We have served around 150 children from several schools in Java Island. We are sure to increase the number of children who can enjoy LEGO facilities to around 1,000 children in five years.
We are sure to increase the number of children who can enjoy LEGO facilities to around 1,000 children in five years.
The LEGO that we have is still limited so our activities cannot be massive. In addition, we are still self-funding so that operational costs sometimes become obstacles in conducting activities. This also resulted in our activities still centered around Java. There are also no partners that sustain in helping our activities and financing.
We hope to have a partnership with Indonesian Government.
- Not registered as any organization
We have 14 people as part-time staff and sometimes we open for volunteers.
NoSome of our teams have an electro-educational background, when we were in college we used LEGO as a learning medium in practicing mechanical skills and programming. LEGO is a tool that we are used to. After graduating too, we conducted social activities teaching to remote areas using the LEGO media that we have. One year we conduct activities in several different places so that we have enough experience in organizing activities.
Not yet
We provide learning programs using LEGO tools to support early learning for children, especially in remote parts of Indonesia. Since LEGO has a high enough price, we intend to conduct fundraising and cooperation to provide these facilities for free. We expect cooperation from the Government of Indonesia and LEGO Company to support our activities.
We hope to submit this activity and cooperate with the Indonesian Ministry of Education as one of the work programs in order to equalize education, especially children, in Indonesia. When the program gets moral and material support from the government, we will manage the LEGO facility and provide salaries for volunteers who join our program.
We already have around 10 sets of LEGO that we can use to practice LEGO learning. We use it alternately from one school to another. We have hope to use and even provide more LEGO devices. For this reason, we expect financial assistance to improve our facilities in improving our services to children across the country.
