ORGANIC ILEMBA
The essential micronutrients play a significant role in metabolic activities and energy storage in the human body, particularly in women during menstruation and pregnancy, and in children during normal growth and development.
The prevalence of anemia in preschool children ranges from 42% to 53% in East Africa with fish we believe it will address this. Through our solution on fish Farming using Cages we will be able to increase accessibility of nutrition in our Rural communities in Taita Taveta county and able to reach the malnourished ones.
There is an urgent need to solve the problem of micronutrient malnutrition that is prevalent among young children and women in Taita Taveta not only in this region but also across Africa.
Particularly in women during menstruation and pregnancy, and in children during normal growth and development. like The prevalence of anemia in preschool children ranges from 42% to 53% in East Africa.we believe we this project we can solve the problem.
Our Mission
To further organic and sustainable agriculture in arid and semi-arid region, food security, landscape restoration, and lifestyles in East Africa.
Our aim at the moment is to Improving food and nutrition security through Cage fish farming at Lake Challa in Taveta Sub-county, Taita Taveta county in Kenya. Due to fish has the highest protein we intend to use modern fish farming techniques, (cage farming) where maximum production is possible. This will make the economy strong and ensure availability of required nutritious food the targeted malnourished. With this structure it will also create great source of employment for the unemployed youths from farming to the Market segment.
- Reduce barriers to healthy physical, mental, and emotional development for vulnerable populations
- Enable parents and caregivers to support their children’s overall development
- Prototype
- New application of an existing technology
Using of modern fish farming techniques (Cage Farming) maximum production is possible. And due to High demand of fish we will be able to reach required targeted number of household which are malnourished on the project first phase compared to other techniques.
One of the benefits of fish cage farming is the ease of harvesting the fish. Fish may be removed with a hand-held net and processed.
Cage aquaculture involves the growing of fishes in existing water resources while being enclosed in a net cage which allows free flow of water.
In view of the high production attainable in cage culture system, it can play a significant role in increasing the overall fish production.
Cage culture also offers the farmer a chance to utilize existing water resources in which most cases have only limited use for other purposes.
Also our ORGANIC FISH FEEDS from Cassava leaves
Food is critical to aquaculture because it usually constitutes over 50% of production costs, and also because it provides the energy inputs necessary to achieve maximal growth.
The high protein content &nutritive value of cassava leaves are well documented.Cassava leaf yields amounting to as much as 4.60tonnes dry matter per hectare may be produced as a by-product at root harvest.

Taita Taveta has deteriorated significantly to critical levels, where 1 out of 4 children is acutely malnourished. Due to poverty, lack of food and other essential resources for survival, 33% of children stunted the age of five are stunted(low-height-for age), 22% of these children are wasted (low-weight-for age) while 43% of the total population is chronically undernourished. This call for immediate and urgent scaling up of nutrition services delivery structures to effectively target households with nutrition vulnerability.

Able to generate 12MT of fish to reach 3,000 households which are malnourished. Also to scale by adding more than 20 cages from the profit we will generate from the first phase, so to reach our 3 years target of 50,000 households which includes schools.

Facing challenges as Organic Ilemba is what makes us to grow strong and skilful but none which are bigger than our will and tenacity to push forward and achieve our short, medium, long-term and ultimate goals. Financial challenges, encountering bureaucratic elements in different institutions, lack of adequate and relevant data amongst others.

The fund will enable us to install 1cages on the Lake of (10 x 10 x 3m depth), purchase of fish Feeds, solar power Freezer, fish fingerlings then the other goes to labour & staffing.
Estimated income on the 1cage for fish farming, harvesting 8,100 fish per harvest whereby price of $2 per kg will generate $24,300 per cage per year. The cage will generate 12MT of fish each year and our target is to reach more than 100MT per year.

We believe AI and big data can help us improve our model of early childhood development by create concrete data on % percentage of Malnutrition in the community. By pin pointing villages to villages data in the county.
The fund will enable us to install more than 5 cages on the Lake of (10 x 10 x 3m depth) with this type of a cage can hold upto 32,000 fingerlings.we intend to start with 9,000 fingerlings With the rate of mortality of 10% and survival rate of 90% our estimate harvest per cage will be 8,100 fish. Also purchase of fish Feeds, solar power Freezer container, fish fingerlings then the other goes to labour & staffing. The fund will enable us to generate 60MT of fish each year from the 5Cages so we can be able to reach 15,000 households which are malnourished. Our target for 3year is to reach our target of 50,000 households which includes schools.
