TOTO VOICE NETWORK UGANDA LTD
We simplify, Articulate and advocate for Early Childhood Development (ECD) to its stakeholders especially children, teachers and parents for the attainment of full potential amongst all children below 8 years.
Several, if not all children below 8 years around Africa never attain their greatest potential due to parents’/care takers’ lack of ECD knowledge, parenting skills and limited access to ECD products and services.
We have packaged ECD into seven programme each emphasizing a key element of ECD that if scaled would better inform parenting, lesson schemes and increase access and demand for ECD products and services.
They include Play And Learn (PAL) Academy this being core; through which we promote home learning, enhance learning in the classroom and build learning lifestyles amongst all children, TOTO Clock for routines, TOTO Amagara for child health, TOTO Nurturing for nutrition, TOTO COM for communication, TOTO Proofing and TOTO Watching for child security.
Let’s use Uganda my country to understand the urgency of ECD in the world; Uganda has 57,842 villages, has a total of 5,763 early learning centers (MOE&S census 2015) with most of these located in the urban and semi urban areas. This gives village to school ratio of 10:1. Which means a few children will make it to school because to the far distance that they can’t walk at the tender age.
Therefore 91% of Uganda’s children are not accessing pre-primary education. Over 80% of the population cannot afford the fees charged for pre-primary education, which also further limits access (NPA2015).
Recently, one of our state ministers lost his twins after they both drowned in his pool; as many citizens cried in pity, it was screaming lack of knowledge to me and in that moment I knew that more needed to be done.
We work with teachers, parents and children.
Toto Voice Network is a social enterprise that envisions a generation of African children that have attained greatest potential, a generation of mothers that are ready for parenting and understand the basics of Early Childhood Development, societies that appreciate the value of play and education especially for the girl child.
We are simplifying ECD using our 7 memorable elements, we articulate ECD to the different stakeholders through our parenting classes and Teacher Equip workshops and we advocate for ECD using the different platforms like our websites, social media, radio, health center sharing and one on one.
Play And Learn (PAL) Academy is a replicable academy that can be run in different institutions with children; a household being the smallest unit. With a Tagline “Play And Learn for Every Child”; It intends to increase home learning in both rural and urban households, build a learning life style early in childhood, and enhance learning in classrooms and other children facilities; all this through guided playtime with appropriate play material and blended curriculum.
Embarking on proactively providing spaces for children to play, innovate, explore and learn impactful skills to lead them to fulfilling lives. A long side aggressively advocating and sharing ECD knowledge with masses as to unify parenting and child care all around the communities.
