Bear & Banjo Technologies
Problem: children less than 5, normally have a younger sibling in the household, and only 1 parent looking after them. The 1 parent at home is normally very busy running the household, with little to no time for children's activities.
Solution: Using the parent for oversight only; the technology is used so that 1 child learns a new skill/ability and then has to show the other sibling how it works. Each sibling has their own device, and as one child learns something new, has to teach the other one.
Positive change: The home is where the basic education starts for young children, this technology allows children to remain at home whilst learning.
Specific problem being solved: children spend a lot of time in front of a television not learning activities that would prepare them for school.
My idea is to use my technology that engages 2 or more young children together in order for them to learn important skills and knowledge. It is interactive learning, with the technology and each other, because young children love to show what they have learnt.
Time poor parents (poor and rich) who want to start young children on the pathway to education. Most parents want their children to follow a pathway different from their own, to seek opportunities that they may missed out because of education and/or "vision" to chase those opportunities.
My technology will help address the early learning missed opportunities and hep show them the "vision" of things they can possibly do later in life.
Solution: uses a setup similar to the old "Battleship" board game; but instead of a peg style board games, it uses an electronic screen on each vertical side for the two children.
It uses a touch screen on the horizontal section for the two children, which is reconfigurable depending upon the lesson to be taught.
As a lesson / vision is completed, it can be sent to the other child, where it can be explained to them what they did. A series of software applications can selected by the parent to cater different lessons for each child.
- Enable parents and caregivers to support their children’s overall development
- Prepare children for primary school through exploration and early literacy skills
- Prototype
- New application of an existing technology
Acknowledges that young children have lots of time, but not the means to learn; especially with busy parents.
Exiting software applications & high quality screens.
- Artificial Intelligence
- Behavioral Design
My solution has been pilot tested on my own children, and was very successful.
