PLOOSH! - black water treatment decontamination
- Canada
- For-profit, including B-Corp or similar models
PLOOSH! addresses the challenge of water contamination and inefficient sanitation systems, prevalent in both rural and urban communities globally. Poor water management contributes to health hazards, environmental degradation, and water scarcity, affecting billions worldwide. Inadequate wastewater treatment leads to groundwater pollution, posing health risks and ecological damage. Our solution mitigates these issues by providing an innovative alternative to traditional septic tank systems, reducing contamination and promoting sustainable water management practices.
PLOOSH! is a cutting-edge water management system designed to treat and recycle wastewater efficiently on site. It works by employing advanced technology to filter out contaminants from household wastewater, transforming it into grey water and fertiliser. PLOOSH! utilizes a combination of filtration, UV, Ozone and Enzymes to ensure water quality. It incorporates sensors and monitoring systems to optimise performance and reduce maintenance requirements. By treating wastewater locally, PLOOSH! helps conserve water resources, protect the environment (ensuring that aquatic ecosystems remain unaffected and allowing fish and frogs to reproduce without interference) and promote sustainable living.
PLOOSH! primarily serves communities and households in regions where access to clean water and effective sanitation is limited, especially in countries facing prevalent waterborne diseases. The target population includes rural areas, informal settlements, and underserved urban neighborhoods where traditional wastewater treatment systems are inadequate or nonexistent. These communities often lack access to safe drinking water and suffer from health risks associated with poor sanitation practices.
PLOOSH! aims to directly and meaningfully improve the lives of these individuals by providing them with a reliable and sustainable water management solution. By treating wastewater locally and effectively, PLOOSH! addresses the urgent need for clean water and sanitation infrastructure. This reduces the risk of waterborne diseases, improves public health outcomes, and enhances overall quality of life for residents. Additionally, PLOOSH! promotes environmental conservation by minimizing water pollution and preserving natural resources. Overall, our solution aims to empower communities with access to safe and sustainable water resources, leading to healthier and more prosperous livelihoods.
Our team is well-positioned to deliver this solution as we have a deep understanding of the challenges faced by the communities we aim to serve. One of our team members resides in a rural area and has firsthand experience using a similar water management solution for several years. This proximity to the target population allows us to truly understand their needs, preferences, and challenges.
Our solution is informed and enhanced by our team member's experiences and insights living in rural areas. We have leveraged this knowledge to refine and improve the design of our solution, ensuring that it meets the specific needs and requirements of the communities we serve. Additionally, we are committed to incorporating community input and feedback throughout the design and implementation process. We actively engage with community members to gather their ideas, preferences, and concerns, ensuring that our solution is responsive to their needs and aligned with their agendas.
Overall, our team's proximity to the target population, coupled with our commitment to community engagement and collaboration, ensures that we are well-equipped to design and deliver a solution that truly meets the needs of the communities we serve.

- 6. Clean Water and Sanitation
- Prototype
We are currently in the process of designing the 7th prototype. Our focus is on testing this prototype with partners such as INRS and the University of Sherbrooke this summer. We have made significant progress in our development journey, and our immediate goal is to validate our solution through rigorous testing and collaboration with academic institutions.
We believe in the power of collaboration and collective action to address the world's most pressing challenges. Specifically, we hope this organisation can help us overcome several barriers that we currently face in scaling our solution. These barriers include:
- Technical Barriers: We may encounter technical challenges in implementing our solution at scale, and we would benefit from access to technical expertise and resources to overcome these challenges.
- Financial Barriers: We need additional funding to further develop and refine our solution, as well as to expand its reach to more communities in need.
- Legal Barriers: There may be legal and regulatory hurdles that we need to navigate as we expand our solution to new regions and markets. Your network of legal experts can provide valuable guidance and support in addressing these barriers.
- Cultural Barriers: Cultural differences and norms may impact the adoption and acceptance of our solution in different communities. Your diverse network and global reach can help us better understand and navigate these cultural nuances.
- Market Barriers: We may face challenges in identifying and accessing new markets for our solution. Your connections to industry leaders and market experts can help us explore new opportunities and expand our market presence.
You can become a valuable partner in our journey to scale our solution and make a meaningful impact on the lives of those we aim to serve - international. We are looking forward this opportunity to collaborate with your network of partners to overcome these barriers and drive positive change in the world.
n Canada, we take our water abundance for granted. Let's seize this opportunity to lead by example, sharing our knowledge to support other international communities in need.
Although we've successfully developed a Gray water station with excellent results, the Canadian market shows limited interest. Given the abundance of water here, our current focus is to prioritise local commercialisation of black water treatment.
