D-Olivette Bio-Solutions
- Nigeria
- Hybrid of for-profit and nonprofit
Conflict, Economic Shocks and Climate Extremes with Soaring Energy and Agricultural Input Prices are combining to create a Food Crisis of unprecedented proportions with Africa bearing the most negative impact. A recent research targeting small-holder farmers reported a shocking increase in operational costs to over 60% in 2022. The prices of urea fertilizer doubled in the first quarter of 2022 and projected to grow by over 300% before Q4 of 2024. Also, the PAN (Poultry Association of Nigeria) claimed over 50% of its members shut down their businesses within 2022 and 2023 due to increasing poultry feed costs; prices of livestock feed in Nigeria went beyond 1,000% from 2014 to 2024.
Like any business, no profit means farmers will go out of business, forcing food shortage and crisis. With more governments pulling further plugs on food, energy and fertilizer subsidies, there is an urgent need for a home-grown regenerative agricultural solution that can sustainably help farmers create clean energy, animal feed and fertilizer from organic waste to reduce operation costs by over 50% while entirely eliminating waste and pollution.
D-Olivette is an R&D social enterprise that merges AI, Big Data & Biogenics to provide closed-loop agricultural solutions and resource recovery from over 100 types of organic waste. Its main goal is to ensure agrarian settlements and farms sustainably create their own clean energy, fertilizer and animal feed plus farm waste management solutions; therefore reducing operation costs by over 50% using D-Olivette’s Hardware, AI-Chatbot and Organic Bio-Enzymes.
D-Olivette’s innovations transform every type of agricultural, organic and wastewater into clean energy, organic animal feed, fertilizer and reusable clean water, while allowing integration of nutrient cycling and waste-to-bio-resource advancement.

OUR KEY CUSTOMERS & HOW WE ADDRESS THEIR PROBLEMS:
(i) RURAL WOMEN: The WHO confirmed that firewood emission kills about 500,000 women and children in Africa annually. This is mainly due to energy-poverty. With the on-going global energy crisis, more African women are shifting away from gas stoves to charcoal and firewood. Presently, the price of gas in Nigeria about $1 per kg; these surge in price is pushing more households into using wood fuel which emits incredible amount of co2-emission. Homes are often filled with fumes which families ignorantly inhale. D-Olivette is tackling these challenges with its Kitchen Box; which turns household organic waste e.g. chicken poop, food waste, and other types of organic waste into clean cooking fuel, while producing clean electricity e.g. through use of low Kilo-volt-amperes (Kva) combustion engines to burn biogas to produce clean electricity produced by the Kitchen box. D-Olivette is targeting this segment, and providing them with clean cooking fuel, clean electricity and bioslurry for uses in their kitchens, gardens and farms through its Kitchen Boxes.
(ii) Small-Holder Farmers: The All Farmers Association of Nigeria confirmed about 9% of its members abandoned the farming profession in 2022 due to (1) increasing price of diesel which farmers used for energy; (2) soaring cost of chemical fertilizer and (3) the skyrocketing prices of animal-feed.
D-Olivette is helping small-holder farmers by installing Bio-Stations on their farms; the innovation transforms existing organic waste into clean energy, organic fertilizer and animal feed supplement. Now, they depend less on harmful diesel and chemical fertilizer which harms the soil, environment and even their health; while saving more money.
(iii) Off-grid Communities & Others: More off-grid communities are shifting to D-Olivette’s innovations which if properly maintained can last for as long as 50 years, making it very durable. D-Olivette’s Bio-Stations are been used by agrarian, off-grid and rural communities to treat landfills and transform their waste into clean energy, and sustainable agricultural input such as organic animal feed, fertilizer and biogas. Communities such as Gudugba are today processing averagely over 100 tons of organic waste monthly with D-Olivette’s innovation; which has helped the community totally shift away from expensive diesel to self-sustaining clean energy and agricultural inputs.
