Global warming is defined as an increase in the long-term average temperature of the Earth's surface as a result of the release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, which are primarily caused by human activities. These gases include carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O). It is known that greenhouse gases are one of the most important factors of global warming and related climate change, which is another of the problems that are on the agenda in the world and progressing dangerously. These gases trap heat in the Earth's atmosphere, causing temperatures to rise gradually. While the average one-year temperature in the world in 2010 was 14.30°C, in 2020 this number is 14.84°C, which is 0.54°C higher than the average temperature in 2010. According to scientific data, this number should not increase by more than 1.5ºC by 2030. Carbon emissions come from a variety of sources, including the burning of fossil fuels for transportation, electricity generation and industrial processes, deforestation, and some agricultural practices. These emissions contribute significantly to the greenhouse effect and trap heat in the Earth's atmosphere, leading to global warming. Efforts to reduce carbon emissions include switching to renewable energy sources, improving energy efficiency, implementing carbon pricing mechanisms, and policies that promote sustainable land use and conservation. Carbon emissions, global warming, and climate change are universal problems and therefore have a wide range of impacts, affecting our planet and all living things on it. The impact area of the project is wide.
It is observed that solutions that will find a solution to the climate crisis and prevent the problem from reaching fatal dimensions are critical. Our team, which closely follows the increasingly important carbon capture technologies today, is aware that caging technologies play an important role in the fight against climate change by reducing the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and preventing the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. In this context, our team, realizing the potential of the UAV-integrated carbon caging technology we have developed, aimed to design a sustainable UAV that detects the amount of carbon in determined areas using unmanned aerial vehicles and reduces emissions by using a specially designed carbon capture system and NDIR sensors that go to areas with high density.

As #7672 Scorpions Frc team, we organized the first satellite and remote sensing technologies hackathon in our country under the leadership of Akdeniz University professors, and our sub-team, the ACCT team, came first in this competition. We set out to develop our project, which was initially based on an idea.
To make our name known in this competition organized by a prestigious University such as MIT together with its partners, to find financial and technical assistance to fight against the climate crisis, one of the biggest problems of our world; We hope to build the future. The community and thought partners that Solve will provide us will be very useful for us.

Our project involves utilizing UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) in conjunction with carbon capture technologies where we shared the codes and ideas on open-source platforms. We aimed to encourage youth development and foster curiosity in the fields of science and education. To achieve this, we provide components for the drones using our 3D printer in our workshop. This ensures that the parts used are produced from Türkiye, which is crucial for our team. Additionally, with our new approach to carbon capture, we can estimate the overall amount of carbon in a given area thanks to our NDIR sensor. This new method of capturing enabled us to develop a new technology where we unite drones and carbon capture leading to the creation of a 4-layer filter which helped us to make the system renewable.
We developed our project for permanent and strict solutions. For short-term utilization, our primary focus is observing the joint technology of carbon capturing and drones. By collecting and processing carbon amounts we can change the aspect of carbon capturing in our lives. In the intermediate term, we can efficiently use the technology to benefit in strategy. From the experience we gain discovering new paths for our drone could lead to new opportunities for our technology. In the long term, with enough observations and usage, we can mitigate the effects of carbon emissions and contribute to preventing global warming.
When considering our aims we tried to have the best impact possible on youths. Leaving a significant heritage to the next generation is our major aspiration. With global warming becoming a huge threat to our planet, technologies like carbon capturing become more vital than ever. We realized that raising awareness of climate change for youths is essential. That's why we integrated our project with the 13th goal of sustainable development which is known as "take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts."
The core technology of our project is the carbon-capturing mechanism. We applied absorbent materials to capture the carbon from the air and created a 4-layer filter that can be used renewably with heating. Moreover, we designed a storage to store the carbon that we collected from the air. Additionally, to prioritize carbon capture, we have designed an algorithm that directs the drone to areas with higher carbon levels. We used an NDIR sensor to detect the amount of carbon in the air.

In total , our team has 6 members . 5 of these members are students ,and we have a mentor. The students have other responsibilities, so we can sort our 6 team members as part-time staff. Our mentor's position is to constantly check the work that our students are doing, and make sure that each person uses his potential at maximum.
We started this team 6 months ago for a hackathon contest called "SATHACK", and our team's project became the winner project of the competition. So our team thought this project had a bigger potential for problem-solving. After the Hackathon contest, our team has been working on this solution for 6 months by right now.
In our team we have different identities . We have distinctive characteristics of diversity in our team such as different religions, and different races. In our working environment we can get over these racial and religious problems by focusing on our goal to make the world a better place for all religions and races . In this case, our team is not affected by any other event than making our goals closer and closer. Besides our motto, we give little breaks while working, and we encourage others to talk about themselves to make them a little bit more like they are a part of the team. In our team, we do other extracurricular activities after work. We do other things we like to do like robotics or even hang out in our free time. We do all of these things to make our team more united.

The project, which is highly popular in international marketing and contributes significantly to the development of critical carbon capture technologies and climate change projects, aims to measure the amount of CO2 in the air, publish it as open source, and contribute to its capture and recycling, thereby minimizing the environmental impact of CO2 gas. By measuring and recycling the amount of CO2, which is one of the dangerous gases causing the greenhouse effect in the atmosphere, the project helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and also contributes to mitigating significant environmental issues such as global warming and climate change. Thus, it supports the preservation of natural resources and the sustainability of the ecosystem. The captured CO2 is stored for conversion into high-value carbon-based materials using renewable energy sources. Especially in the production and sale of recycled materials such as carbon fiber, which has a high demand rate in both environmental and industrial markets, the project significantly contributes to its commercialization potential. Additionally, the high potential for licensing or productization of this technology used to measure and capture CO2 enhances commercial opportunities.
