There is a huge problem in how we track, measure and report greenhouse gas emissions and climate finance. It is not transparent, simple or trustworthy. This is costing countries, states and communities billions of dollars and millions of lives. Our solution is focused on solving this challenge and meeting this huge need. The Climate crisis has spared no one as we have seen an increase in flooding, temperatures, and climate related deaths, especially in African communities where we reside affecting about 13.5 million children. Obscure accountability and tracking of emissions pose a major threat to our planet and the lack of simple, powerful and transparent digital solutions to accelerate, predict, measure, and offset carbon emissions is a critical focus for our team. In Africa, universal access to affordable energy requires bringing connections to 90 million people a year, triple the rate of recent years. At present, 600 million people, (43% of the total population), lack access to energy, especially in rural communities. In summary, with our solution we believe greenwashing will be a thing of the past.
Our solution is a simple yet powerful tool that helps to offset carbon emissions and incentivize the populace to utilize renewable energy. We provide real-time monitoring of Green-house-gasses (GHGs) as well as forecasting which will guide organizations and governments in implementing decisions that will help accelerate our journey to net zero, especially in Africa. Chemotronix is implementing digital measuring, reporting and verification (dMRV) technologies to ensure proper issue of carbon credits (in line with African Carbon Market Initiative) and facilitate clean energy projects which will help the community to thrive in eco-friendly environments while maximizing their potential.
Carbon credits will serve as an instrument for climate financing in developing renewable projects which will be beneficial to rural and urban communities. Our solution is going to ensure equitable and transparent distribution of carbon credit revenue, with a significant portion of revenue going to local communities which currently lack access to clean energy infrastructure. We seek to reach out to 10 local communities and 5 urban communities (impacting at least 100,000 individuals) yearly.
Individual team members grew up in areas with little or no access to energy supply till date. For instance, the Team Lead currently leaves in a town called Ejioku in southwestern Ibadan, Nigeria. This community has poor electricity supply and has been chosen as the area to facilitate our first carbon credits project which would involve the initiation of solar Agri photovoltaic farms.
In addition, some of the team members have worked on energy and agricultural projects across their neighbouring communities. Our team is also supported by advisors who have helped various successful startups in Nigeria navigate rural communities regarding scaling their agricultural and solar energy potentials.

- Prototype
We currently have a demo platform for initiating carbon credit transactions, an IoT prototype and an acre of Land to kickstart our Carbon Credit project. We recently began a partnership with an Indian company to kickstart our solar agriphotovoltaic farm before end of Q2, 2024.
We are very much interested in pitching our solution to some US Energy and Tech companies which we believe will be interested in offsetting their emissions by developing projects in the global south, especially across African communities. We believe Solve could help us with warm introductions to break market barriers, advise us on the legal documentations we need to set up in the United State while also providing support in terms of completing fundraising rounds and technical development.
- Business Model (e.g. product-market fit, strategy & development)
- Financial (e.g. accounting practices, pitching to investors)
- Legal or Regulatory Matters
- Monitoring & Evaluation (e.g. collecting/using data, measuring impact)
- Technology (e.g. software or hardware, web development/design)
Our solution helps provide affordable and clean energy to various communities while also increasing the agricultural yield in such communities by developing carbon credit projects ranging from Solar Agri photovoltaic farms to biogas and potentially hydrogen.
The Carbon market in Africa has been largely operating below its potential in previous years with most projects revolving only around clean cooking devices. In 2023, at the Africa Climate Summit in Kenya, $250 million was committed by UAE to purchase quality carbon credits from Africa. The potential for the Africa Carbon Market is set to increase in coming years with more commitment of funds. Chemotronix has submitted some of its projects to the African Carbon Market Initiative (ACMI) which have been approved. Also being a part of two accelerator programs in partnership with COP28UAE, our projects are also being considered for funding.
We have seen the huge success stories of Solar Agri photovoltaic farms in India and Chemotronix has initiated steps regarding partnerships with Indian companies to ensure our Solar Agri photovoltaic farms are developed with high standard while considering the peculiarities of our various communities. Furthermore, solar has been widely adopted in the Nigerian market and its set to even increase more in coming years.
Our solution will help maximize the productivity and revenue of the various farms, communities and households who would be utilizing our services.
At Chemotronix, our solution aligns with SDG 2(Zero hunger), 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and 13 (Climate Action). We have a goal of reaching 1 million people across 100 communities with clean energy access in the next 10 years.
We believe this would be achieved by reaching out to 100,000 individuals yearly through our projects.
Our solution utilizes a digital monitoring, reporting and verification (dMRV) system to ensure effective offset of carbon emissions. This will help us to monitor our progress towards achieving net zero.
The Chemotronix IoT device collects data from IoT devices using various
sensors and a microcontroller. The sensors include the MG811 and
MQ135 for measuring carbon dioxide levels, the MQ7 and MQ9 for
measuring carbon monoxide levels, and the BME280 for measuring
humidity and temperature.
The data collected from the sensors are processed and stored using the
InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) with Web3.storage & Co2.storage by
Filecoin as the decentralized storage service provider. The data is curated
to remove irrelevant information, formatted to a suitable format, and
reduced in size to optimize storage.
We also have laid out plans to harness remote sensing techniques and
satellite data with the motive of combining them with other open source
carbon emissions data for advanced analytics.
Once large organizations verify the effectiveness of offsetting emissions, it helps to facilitate investment in clean energy projects across various communities.

Our team ensures there is no bias in terms of hiring and delegation of duties. We currently have a healthy mix of 50% male and 50%female on the team.
At Chemotronix we develop carbon credit projects (Solar Agri photovoltaic Farms, Biogas and Hydrogen) to various rural communities in Africa for energy, technological and industrial companies to offset their emissions while they transition towards clean energy sources.
We offer sales of carbon credits at $5/tCO2e, low cost ioT devices for monitoring at $40/ device and energy supply to households at $50-100/month. We also have huge prospects of revenue to be generated from the sales of agricultural products harvested from our project locations.
- Organizations (B2B)
For the last 3 years we have raised funds through hackathons where we iterated our solution and engaged with the larger community of stakeholders to determine the feasibility of our solution. We are just about commencing fundraising rounds while we keep iterating other aspects of our solution through hackathons.
We have won over $40000 in hackathon prices to develop the prototype of our digital platform, IoT device and purchase of land for our carbon credit project.
We believe with the next $100,000 grant we would complete our first pilot carbon credit project before we fundraise $1million dollars with 10-15% equity for the next 3 years. We seek to generate between $2-3million dollars of revenue over the next 3 to 4 years upon actualizing this objective before scaling our operations.
