Organic and Apiculture Farming for Climate Action in Kenya
- Kenya
- For-profit, including B-Corp or similar models
Over the past few years, the impact of climate change has been increasingly evident through long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. These shifts have caused the loss of lives and livestock, bringing about food insecurity due to prolonged rainfall that causes floods and displacement of people, and prolonged sunshine leading to droughts that have negative impacts on livelihoods.
Research indicates that 3.6 billion people already live in areas highly susceptible to climate change. By 2030 to 2050, climate change is expected to cause approximately 250,000 additional deaths annually due to undernutrition, malaria, and heat stress alone, not just in Kenya but worldwide.
In Kenya, the effects of climate change have been greatly exacerbated by human activities, such as deforestation, swamp reclamation, and the use of toxic chemicals in agriculture to increase output. All of these activities affect soil quality and cause the formation of acid rain that brings about droughts and the destruction of properties.
We, at Eco-Bees Company Limited, are dedicated to reducing the impact of climate change through beekeeping, organic crop farming, and tree planting. Our objective is to use modern beehives for large-scale beekeeping, increase bee colonies, and improve pollination impact on plants, leading to increased crop production. This, in turn, will promote food security and nutrition.
We plan to involve farmers, youth, and women groups who have land and capacity to set up bee farms. We will provide them with a minimum of 200 bee hives each and train them in beekeeping with the help of our partners, such as Chris Bees Enterprise. The ownership of these hives will be under Eco-Bees Company Limited for ten years, after which the farmers will take over. During this time, we will monitor the hives and harvest honey, which we will pay the farmers for each kilogram of honey at a reasonable rate.
We also focus on organic farming, where we grow crops using organic fertilizers such as composted animal manure, compost, sewage sludge, food processing wastes, and municipal biosolids. These organic fertilizers improve soil health and reduce the negative impact of chemical fertilizers, which contribute to the formation of acidic rains and other environmental problems, such as drought.
To mitigate climate change, we will consistently plant trees to increase forest cover, which will improve climatic conditions and overall human health.
In conclusion, our project is multifaceted and aims to impact the climate positively, create food security, promote good nutrition, and improve livelihoods by creating employment opportunities and income for many, including farmers, production staff, salespersons, and others. We plan to expand our project not only in Kenya but also in other parts of the world.
Our solution of Organic and Apiculture farming to mitigate climate change aims to impact the environment and transform it into its evergreen state. We aim to mitigate the impact of climate change in Kenya and promote food security not only in Kenya but also in Africa and the world. Our solution aims to create employment opportunities for youths, women, and many other individuals in various fields such as sales agents, farm workers, honey harvesters, and production plant workers, among others, thereby improving their standard of living.
Our e-commerce system will promote organic feeding of honey and bring good health to many due to its accessibility to customers. Additionally, the distribution of bee hives to selected farmers will increase bee colonies and pollination rates, leading to increased crop fruiting and creating food security for the growing population. This will also result in high-quality honey for the growing market of over 5 million people not only in Kenya but also across Africa and the world.
With this solution, Eco-Bees aims to improve the lives of not just a few individuals but many, directly or indirectly, approximately 1000 plus people every year as we grow.

Our company, Eco-Bees, utilizes organic farming and apiculture to address climate change and promote sustainable agriculture. Our main focus is on increasing the bee population through apiculture, which has the potential to significantly enhance pollination in the country. This, in turn, will contribute to a boost in food cropping and improve overall food security in the region.
Through our apiculture project, we aim to expand the bee population, which will lead to heightened levels of pollination in agricultural areas. The increase in pollination will result in higher crop yields, better quality of produce, and the sustainable cultivation of a wider variety of crops. This will have a direct positive impact on local and regional food security, promoting a more resilient and sustainable agricultural ecosystem.
The apiculture project not only benefits the ecological system but also plays a crucial role in increasing honey output, which is a core element of our agricultural production. The additional honey produced will not only be sold under our Eco-Bees Honey brand but also contribute to promoting sustainable agricultural practices and organic products.
Apart from ecological and agricultural benefits, the expansion of our apiculture project and increased honey production will create employment opportunities. We plan to achieve this by engaging more people as sales agents for our expanded honey products and utilizing our e-commerce website as a platform for sales and distribution. This strategic approach will enable us to address ecological and agricultural challenges while also contributing to economic development by creating meaningful employment opportunities within our community.
In summary, our core technology is based on the innovative use of organic farming and apiculture to increase the bee population, boost pollination, enhance food security, and promote sustainable agricultural practices. This approach aligns with our commitment to harnessing technology and ecological solutions to address climate change while concurrently fostering economic empowerment and growth within our community.
