ELECTRONIC WASTE IS A GROBAL CHALLENGE THAT CAN NOT BE IGNORED !
Have you ever wondered what happens to your old electronic gadget?
your smartphones, laptop, washing machine, car or any other tech device? when miss handled they end up in landfills, polluting soil, water, exposing hazardous chemicals to our people and contributing to climate change.
You may ask yourself why today ? why Innovahyper Technologies??
Electronic waste is a global challenge that cannot be ignored. The alarming truth is that we are generating more than 57.4 million Metric tons/years, with the United Nations projecting to double by 2050.
to put this into perspective it's like discarding 800 laptops every second.
Rwanda's contribution to E-waste has been substantial with more than 15,000 tons per year, at growth rate of 6% since 2015.
Shockingly, e-waste comprises 70% of overall toxic waste, and only 0.9% is properly recycled in Africa.
It doesn’t stop there!
in our country Rwanda ,Scope 2020 report indicated that nearly 70% of Rwandan Households remain unserved by formal housing market. When informal housing encounters climate-related disasters, particularly floods, it puts our people's lives at risk.
In May 2023, Rwanda have experienced a severe damage, where we've lost 131 lives with 5,598 destroyed homes, in just two days due to climate related disasters. 60,000 families are being Relocated from High-risk zones to green/model villages in Kigali alone and our country is losing more than 200 million USD every year due to climate related disasters.
Furthermore, the construction machines that could be used to address these challenges for climate resilient construction are expensive and powered by fossil fuels which are contributing to global crisis of climate change which negatively impact our people, planet and economy.
We are profoundly thankful for the visit of H.E. President Paul Kagame, who offered support and and guidance in our most affected regions. This underscores the urgency of our mission.
