Martha Education
79% of deaf are illiterate and do not have access to education because the lack of language, normally the kids learn the language from their parents by hearing. But the deaf live their life in silent so they do not gain language.
Our solution is to teach them the sign language by using cards linked to mobile application using the Augmented Reality to teach the sign language then teach them the language so they can start read and write.
Solution illustration in 20 seconds video:
The impact on their lives will be by giving them what they need to access school after teaching them the sign language and the writing language.
79% of the deaf people in the deaf communities in Jordan & world wide are illiterate, this because of the lack of the language. Normally kids learn and gain the language from their parents by hearing, building their vocabularies to be the bases that used in learning and communication. but the deaf children live their entire life in silent so they do not gain the language as they should be.
And this Video will talk and illustrate the problem: youtu.be/ILoWpzPAtkY
We are starting in Jordan where we targeting the deaf children from the age of 2 to 5 and we have 10640 deaf kids in this age group in Jordan. and this number is expanding to millions world wide.
We spend the past 9 months in field visiting to the deaf communities around Jordan, we met with a lot of our targeted group where we tested our solution with them and make focus groups to improve our MVP where we edit it each time and retested with them, we are now have the 6th version of the MVP.
The solution is by giving them a tool for life and learning through two elements:
- Learning Cards where each group's of these cards represent a educational level. At the first level for example, the child and his parents learn sign language for the most common vocabulary. As the levels progress, learning develops.
- A mobile application is linked to the cards when we read the card with the application camera a video of a child representing the cards content in sign language is shown. We designed the application to be simple and user-friendly using Augmented Reality technology and 100% respecting user privacy.
So, using the AR in the term of education where developing an app to use it with the cards to teach the deaf the sign language.
this 20-second video will illustrate the solution:

- Reduce barriers to healthy physical, mental, and emotional development for vulnerable populations
- Prepare children for primary school through exploration and early literacy skills
- Pilot
- New application of an existing technology
Simply, it is came from the deaf directly, we spend months talking to the deaf communities, deaf parents, and deaf kids (with the present of their parents), testing the solution, modifying, re testing, to finally reach the solution where they told us that this will help and then we start thinking to start implementation, we do not say this solution is the perfect one, but we will keep the development, testing, talking to out audience till we reach the perfect solution to change the deaf people life for the best and teach them their mother language and they start attending to schools again.
Core Technology is the group of resources we used and working together to solve the problems and we are using the Augmented Reality as visualization solution for teaching the deaf kids the sign language, because the deaf using their sight 70% more than others. this will lead to efficient use of the Augmented Reality technology.
- Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality
In order to solve the problem from the root, we spend months in research and field study where we meet with the deaf kids and parents, deaf teachers and experts, all of this research lead to 6th versions of the solution where every one modified and edited base on the feedback. and the test process of the last version done with 78 deaf families, and the after test shows that the kids are using the cards in different ways to learn the sign language and they are using each card for 14 times in average to learn the sign. all of this done with the use of pre and after test that included as a card in the set.
The addressing of the problem was tricky and hard because of the special need of our audience, that why we will never stop testing, improving, and changing the solution based on feedback and studies.

Right now we are complete the test vase for the 6th version where we tested it with 78 deaf families. in the first year after lunching we will reach 10% of the targeted audience in Jordan, this will be 1064 kid (family), and in the next three years we will be reaching the whole deaf community in Jordan with the total of 10640+ and in the next five years we will be reaching the four countries we planning to reach to help addressing the deaf education problems and reach the people in need to help them get access to the education using their mother language.
We have an overall goal is to help the deaf to engage with the community and get access to education with effective communication skills. where we will helping the deaf to achieve their goals and gave the parents the solution to help their deaf kids.
with the next years we will be reaching out for the deaf in the MENA to achieve higher impact in the educational field for the deaf, while we are doing this we will start to expand our social impact by using a share of our profits as CSR and gave 50% of profits to the community by giving free educational levels to people in need and help the deaf to engage more in the community.
The high cost of the App development is the biggest barrier, alongside with the sign language illustration cost, where it cost a lot to create the Curriculum for the sign language. Also, the cultural for the deaf communities where they are closed on each other, this problem we have been facing for months till we start working with the deaf directly. So, right now we have deaf people in our team.
Generous organization who seeking the social impact like MIT always will be the biggest help we can seek to solve the financial problems for this project till we reach the sustainability. Also, as I said before we found the solution for the cultural challenge by working on the deaf directly and include them with the team.
- Hybrid of for-profit and non-profit
We are team of three full time Co-Founders. Also, some free lancers as service providers.
We have been working on this project for full-time for almost a year now. We have the passion to help deaf reaching the education and learning their mother language. also we have experience in IT, languages, and entrepreneurship. and the most important part we are fast learners and we try to gain new experiences everyday to fill the knowledge gabs, and for the thinks that we cannot fill we look for the necessary training and courses specially online to gain the knowledge. and we are working with group of mentors and Advisory Board.
https://www.rescue.org/ where we have access to their innovation lab.
https://jusoorsyria.com/ provide us with training.
UNICEF Jordan cause they have wide range access in Jordan.
Direct sales business model where we will use B2B and B2C to sell cards to the End-User directly as B2C or through partners as B2B.
We will sell the cards meanwhile we will try to get grants and donations, and we will use the cooperative model of social enterprise to provides us with direct access to benefit the target population and cooperative members.
Simply and honestly we are seeking fund, mentor-ship, building partnerships and accessing to training and Solve can help by providing this to us with high standards and the best quality in the world, we are till now depending in our effort and hard work to expand our knowledge and reach / fill the gaps in our work, but with your help we will reach our full potential and have the ability to grow and help the community. Also, Solve will provide us with huge network to get valuable feedback about our work and plans.
- Business model
- Funding and revenue model
- Talent or board members
- Monitoring and evaluation
We are planing to work with organizations working on education and helping people with disabilities, where they will provide us with access to market ( targeted group ) and help with the testing and getting feedback, and as a team we are really work around the feedback. Also, we are planning to have sponsors partners to help us develop the solution and local organizations to help with the distribution.
In our research and from the using of the APP in our solution we will collect a lot of data, using these data to analyze the usage, process, progress and efficiency of our product is necessary to ensure that the targeted group are gaining a real benefits from the solution. we are 100% respecting the privacy of our users, and we are restricting access to the data except for limited number of people. meanwhile, we need a useful use of this data to apply an AI system on it to make sure that we can reach our potentials using these data. that is why we are applying to Innospark Ventures to gain help from the experts in the AI field and get the necessary fund for this.
