She Ready
Every year, an estimated 21 million girls aged 15–19 years in developing regions become pregnant. The largest number of estimated births to 15–19-year-olds in 2021 occurred in Sub-Saharan Africa (6 114 000).
In 2022 South Africa had 150 000 adults aged 15 and over, newly infected with HIV, 2 thirds of these are women. The number of live births to adolescent mothers is 129 223 in South Africa. There is a need to prioritise reproductive healthcare access for young women and girls.
Many young women and girls have limited agency over their bodies and are unable to make decisions about their health. This includes choices related to safe sexual activity, family planning, accessing healthcare, and even decisions about career and marriage.
Gender role, Rape, GBV that is what limits.
Menstrual health
Cultural, religious norms, stigma
Socio-economic: limited access
Poor infrastructure, limited resources, poor public transportation,
ignorance, lack of education,
Our aim is to increase access to health care for young women and girls.
As a by-product of #Keready;#SheReady is dedicated to empowering young women with the knowledge, health services and support they need to lead healthy lives and make informed choices.
#Keready is a mobile clinic project which increases access to primary health care in South Africa. Ke ready began with the ‘demand acceleration task team’ a partnership between non-profit organisations and the department of health to drive COVID-19 vaccination uptake among impoverished youth. This project revealed the greater need for easily accessible health care and health educations. Thus, the mobile clinic project was born. Keready.. stats
