Jade Pad
Period poverty is on the continuous rise in Ghana. 41 -48% of girls in the Northern Part of Ghana still use rags to soak up menstrual blood.
The issue has been further worsened by the tax imposed on sanitary pads which forms almost 50% of the total cost. Coupled with the high cost of living, females can't afford sanitary pads with a pad costing atleast Ghc 20 ( approximately $2 )
Fibre extracted from banana trunks and corn husks are processed into absorbent sheet like materials which are put into various layers to form high absorbent sanitary pads.
The product shall serve women generally but specifically
1. School girls
2. Rural Women
3. Kayayeis ( migrant head porter girls living in pitiable situations)
The background of the team members, personally experience and extensive research, all driven by a drive to ensure females in Ghana have a quality yet affordable sanitary pad is the most outstanding attribute of the team.

Every human values thier health and if not for the case of poverty and low access, no female in Ghana would use rags or other unhealthy materials for blood adoption during their periods.
Thus making and introducing a product that suits that financial capacity will tend to give females the opportunity to good health materials they deserve.
