Participatory Capacity Building
My focus is on Enabling young people's Participation and commitment in SRHR, Stastically speaking Malawi ranks 170 out of 188 on the United Nations gender inequality index, Women in Malawi face gender based Violence(GBV) on everyday basis and most of these are never reported because of lack of awareness and understanding of Women's rights amongst women themselves, which is why there is a very big need for women and girls to be made aware of what their rights are, now the big question is how are we to implement such a task, there are different ways on how we can help our girls and women to understand, to open their minds and give them the right picture of what their rights are and how they can operate to protect themselves.
If we are to engage to engage adolescent girls and women in SRHR, then we must be able to speak in the language they speak, locally, Interpretation of their rights in the local language will greatly open their minds.
Rural approaches such as organised dramas, village tours by young female leaders, who are engaged in SRHR and other professionals jobs such as always is likely to uplift the spirits of young girls in the rural areas.
enganging girls in secondary schools and primary school in meetings and conferences that discuss their rights. and ensuring positive contributions by providing the right environment of engagement.
Raising awareness through technological devices like phones on what sexual rights are the framework of reporting incase of violation
Using already established youth organizations as tools to carry massages of sexual and reproductive health rights to their fellow youths in the village.
enganging local leadership in issues. to do with sexual and reproductive rights as these leaders contain high influence on the cultural norms of various communities.
these solutions are meant for the rural women who might not have the education and means of getting to know what Sexual and reproductive health rights is all about.
also for the local girl who might have heard and could be interested to get to know more and ge involved in contributing to issues to do with sexual and reproductive health rights.
we have been working with girls and women in various other projects as a team, issues to do with Sanitary pads for young girls and access to computer literacy
now we intend to incorporate a policy that protects young girls and women on the issue of sexual and reproductive health rights
- Enable young people’s meaningful participation in SRHR cross-sector collaboration, including but not limited to fields such as legal, policy and advocacy.
- Malawi
- Pilot: An organization testing a product, service, or business model with a small number of users
30 girls
This solution is not innovative. in any way but ts will greatly help my Malawian people to move. ahead as far as Sexual and Reproductive health is Concerned.
This Solution is intended to reach out to local communities and work hand in hand with women who are entrapped in various cultural norms that fight against the rights of women
this solution if propery implemented, will reduce GBV, School dropouts, early Preginacies, in very huge numbers within short periods of time
