LHC Education
The key benefits of LHC app to is to equip early childhood educators and parents with a one-stop teaching and assessment solution that includes everything they need to educate preschoolers .If children do not receive quality early childhood education, it affects the remainder of their school years. Our solution LHC education app, is a preschool education app that is free .The mobile application makes use of developed developed countries to provide a well rounded educational content to be assessed by children in poor, rural, low and middle income areas. Therefore we aim to achieve equality and close the gab when it comes to preschool education in that whether rich or poor ,a child can get access to quality education through the use of the app.
Sustainable development goal 4 is to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.My initiative is trying to solve the problem of access to good quality early childhood education. In a press release in Accra Ghana, Presenting the Human Capital Index report, the World Bank Lead-Dr. Anthony Giuffrida - ranked Ghana 106 out of 157 countries. He also stated that 56% of Ghana's human capital would go waste in the next 18 years due to the poor quality of the country's education system and inadequate investment in the sector. This is a problem because, in reality, the education system in Ghana is very poor. It is not a surprise, therefore, in Ghana that most children graduate from basic school and cannot read, write and speak good English. This does not include children in high income schools where parents pay high school fees there the right quality education is provided for these children who graduate preschool already know how to read and write. It is interesting to note that these high income schools are popular because they are known to use foreign curriculum such as the British curriculum, the USA curriculum and the Montessori curriculum.
Preschoolers, age 1 to 6 years. my team has done extensive research on the current Ghanaian curriculum, as well as benchmarking it with international global curricula.
In our research, we have observed that children in developed countries can read before moving to basic school, whilst a lot of Ghanaian students will start learning how to read in primary. Therefore, LHC App content is based on a rounded curriculum based on the Ghanaian curriculum, benchmarked with international curriculum. the aim is to achieve and reflect, in Ghana, the same quality standards seen in the developed countries.
Therefore the epidemic of students finishing basic school, in Ghana yet cannot read and write, will be eradicated since this problem will be overcome whilst they are in preschool.
The LHC App will provide early childhood educators with the needed tool such as lessons plans and notes, worksheets, activities, teaching videos, record management system to effectively teach the child and close the gap of unequal education between the rich and poor.
Currently we are seeking funds to build a A preschool mobile application (app) that is affordable which has been benchmarked with quality international curriculum such as the American,British and Montessori curriculum.
Why a mobile app? there are millions of parents, guardians and teachers who use mobile phones daily. In fact the mobile app has become the parents second baby sitter. LHC educations seeks to maximize this existing technology to overcome the lack of inadequate investment such problem of lack of infrastructure and available quality material for preschool education in Africa .
The LHC's All-in-one-curriculum preschool workbooks has been intensively researched and developed using the America, British and the Montessori curriculum and workbooks.
The unique features include the apps ability to generate Pupil reports, one exercise worksheet per day. Another unique feature is sing-along videos and songs, thereby enabling children to both learn and play.
- Prepare children for primary school through exploration and early literacy skills
- Decrease inequalities, stereotypes, and discrimination, from birth
- Prototype
- New application of an existing technology
There are no current mobile applications tailored to early childhood education. Currently, available apps are geared towards primary, secondary and tertiary education; an example is the Wodaakye App. Graidup is another educational app, based on the Ghana Education Syllabus for primary schools.
Mine is focused on early childhood education using any mobile phone(Ghana boasts of about 34.57 million subscribers and a penetration rate of 119 per cent, while 10.11million— nearly one-third of the country’s population— are active internet users.)* and hence can be assessed by even low-income households and schools. As part of our corporate social responsibility, rural schools will access the app free of charge.
It's going to be a native android application built with kotlin and following the material design principles to make it very user friendly.
The app will use Google’s Firebase which will give access to Authentication, Storage, Firestore cloud services and make it easier to scale the app from 1000s to millions of users.
The admin dashboard will be built with laravel, a PHP framework, which will make it easier to add content to app through firebase and also manage all the users of the app
- Behavioral Design
Currently , my idea of an app that includes all in one curriculum .Simple to use, will address the problem easily. Mobile technology is now available to millions.
