AI for helping dementia patients
According to Alzheimer's Association, " More than 6 million Americans of all ages have Alzheimer's. An estimated 6.7 million Americans age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer's in 2023."
My proposed solution includes further study is likely to help older people affected by age-related brain disorders like dementia
The solution I propose in the end of my presentation is based on published research; my take on the use of AI is a leap into the future though there is already advancement in the field (aDBS etc). The solution I propose is different simply because it is safe and ethically sound.
I am working on the product based on the research I have quoted in the slides. The product might take up to 3 months. It will use SR node (lowest frequency of 7.83 hz) and test effectiveness on different population by connecting it to an app. It will use AI.
1. If SR (Schumann resonances) affect the human brain and circadian rhythms, what it the range in which it is effective for brain disorders?
2. If SR frequencies can be proven to affect brain cells, can we use AI to further study the pattern and derive data
4. Based on the data in #2, can AI be further used to deduce certain conclusions and help patients in warning before seizures, altering moods by playing binaural beats (SR) and in timely delivery of drugs and other solutions suggested in the end of the presentation
While doing my research and arranging the PPT, I could imagine the target population to be dementia patients or patients with epilepsy who are drug-resistant and need an alternative treatment.
Solution 1-One of the proposed solutions includes using AI to prevent the trigger and inform immediate family and friends before a seizure in epilepsy patients
Solution 2-Another proposed solution includes using SR frequencies (base node at 7.83 Hz) to regulate brain activity, so timely exposure of the frequency. But this needs more direct study.
Solution 3 -I also propose a solution to have an 4-D movie experience for patients
This is not a team project but an extension of my middle school project which got me interested in the brain. In the previous project I suggested using bio polymer (probes) in nanotechnology for drug delivery in the targeted brain areas. I emphasized on the importance of bio-polymers as a biodegradable material which is easy for the body to discharge and also to procure (to reduce the cost of treatment for patients).
This one (submitted here) is more about an alternative brain study along with a few solutions.
- Collecting, analyzing, curating, and making sense of big data to ensure high-quality inputs, outputs, and insights.
- Creating models and systems that process massive data sets to identify specific targets for precision drugs and treatments.
- Concept: An idea for building a product, service, or business model that is being explored for implementation
- Human Capital (e.g. sourcing talent, board development)
The findings can be proven experimentally, (as in effectiveness of SR frequencies on the human brain) and it will help older people suffering from diseases falling under dementia, such as Alzheimers and Parkinsons etc.
As per UN world report, "The number of people aged 65 years or older worldwide is projected to more than double, rising from 761 million in 2021 to 1.6 billion in 2050. The number of people aged 80 years or older is growing even faster. Population ageing is an irreversible global trend."
The impact is scalable and palpable from the above numbers which clearly state the need for an alternative remedy.
If healthy living and well-being of all ages is a goal, the study and solution I propose becomes all the more important as it will help older people (especially above 65 years) to be able to detect and prevent further deterioration in their brain health conditions (Dementia). Few of the solutions can also indirectly impact their quality of life and dependency on other family members.
I am putting up proposed AI tools in slide 49 of the PPT:
-With advancement in technology, I propose neural networks in AI(Artificial Intelligence) and deep learning to be used to study patients and the data utilized to benefit people suffering from life-threatening brain disorders
-The suggested studies and experiments can be used to create neural networks and generate enough data to understand specific parts of the affected brain parts in dementia patients. Use AI tools to further deepen the study in those affected areas.
Once I have patient data, it can be utilized to design a controlled experiment by observing specific brain areas that have been affected by the brain disease under SR frequencies (non-invasive). This will lead to further data and prove effectiveness. The data will then be fed to AI to develop understanding about the brain, and help me in creating an app customized as per the need of a patient depending on the specific areas affected individually.
I am aware that ethical use of AI and AI-tools is important. Patient consent for collecting data and other legal requirements need to be in place. Even if the data is used for bigger good of society, the solution will need privacy and other concerns to be taken care of. My main focus of the project has been finding effective solution experimentally and once proven, the rest will follow as per rules.
This project is focused on finding an alternative way to treat brain disorders, and my curiosity was raised as I noticed our limitations in the understanding of the brain and its complex relationship to our bodies. I feel if we can prove the efficiency of SR frequencies in human brain (experimentally), it will be a break-through.

Six months of self-research in the year 2022-23 and some help from mom and teachers in understanding waves etc.
All are welcome
I need help in first determining the effectiveness of SR and with it, a good operational model and plan.
I have not thought long term simply because I don't know how to generate any of the above.
I haven't estimated the costs either. Can you help me with it?

I am preparing for my AS levels this year. I need help in evaluating the concept.
I need mentorship and lab space; and educational programming sounds exciting!
