Math N' More is a virtual learning center, supporting scholars in mathematics. Our organization provides tutoring, community programming, and mentorship to scholars in K-12 and college. Innovatively, the firm has infused rigorous academics with creative programming to foster scholar engagement. Specifically, Math N' More has curated programming to establish a mathematics platform that engages K-12 and beginning college scholars in math education through digital resources and tutorials.
For example, to help students understand mathematics before learning abstract mathematics, Math N' More will use manipulatives, virtual manipulatives, and concrete representations. For context, virtual manipulatives are visual representations of manipulatives (such as base-ten blocks, two-color counters, and Cuisenaire rods) utilized in virtual settings to foster sense-making and logical reasoning before employing abstractions. As such, these tools enable us to assist students in externalizing mathematical representations and increase learning by allowing them to reflect on mathematical aspects.
Overall, we provide virtual sessions in 8-week program intervals that specialize in mathematics instruction. Tutoring sessions will help students' preparation programs understand more about their preparedness to learn mathematics and how they use the tactics given in the programs to improve their skills.
The core technology that powers our solution to help students understand mathematics are the 21st century instructional design methods that help enhance functionality while also allowing connectivity amongst our staff and students. The platforms utilized include, but are not limited to: zoom, google classroom, class dojo, and edulastic. Zoom allows for easier virtual interactions whilst making it more accessible to share and collaborate which we have used for Math N’ More to allow students and staff to converse effectively and efficiently to ensure learning mathematics is accessible. Google Classroom has been used to help with the organization of assigning tasks and having a platform to communicate outside of tutoring sessions to ensure that students receive the help they need with their journey of learning math. Class Dojo has provided us with the ability to increase scholars' self efficacy and motivation. Edulastic is another platform we have incorporated to help provide the access our scholars need and drive instructions. Since Math N’ More’s inception in 2020, after each year, despite the challenges associated with virtual learning 100% of scholars that have been enrolled in our programming have successfully matriculated to the next level of math. Additionally, scholars mastered their end of course exam administered at the school level. Math N’ More cultivates a learning environment fostered around mentoring with high expectations. Educators at Math N’ More are trained on Reflective Learning © which is metacognitive practices, allowing for thought provoking conversations surrounding the scholar’s academic progress, not just in mathematics. As a result of this methodology, scholars take ownership of their learning.

Math N' More is an initiative designed to transform mathematics education for K-12 and college students outside the traditional structure of schools to empower traditionally underserved communities, primarily in the Metro-Atlanta area. We serve disadvantaged and under-resourced communities that have documented a habitual low performance on the Georgia State end of year assessment which impacts graduation rates and career readiness. We aim to provide educational resources to those regardless of their socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity and current math performance.
The demand for Math N' More's program can be attributed to several factors. 90% of scholars enrolled in Atlanta Public Schools identify as a minority and 53.2% of the whole enrollment are economically disadvantaged creating a disproportionate number of scholars who are in need and may not be able to access personalized support. 2 in 5 African American (black) and Latino scholars report interest in STEM courses and aspire to go to college. However, less than 3 percent are enrolling in STEM courses. Nearly 225,000 Black and Latino scholars are missing out on AP Courses they should have access to while in high school; reported by Equal Opportunity Schools. Math N' More's is charged with providing equitable and attainable mathematics education to K-12 and beginning college scholars to increase enrollment in the growing STEM job market. Math N’ More Program serves all scholars to debunk the myth “I’m not a math person.”
In order to gain an understanding of our goal, it is imperative to be aware of the underlying issues in our surrounding community. After the pandemic, only 26% of scholars scored proficient or above in Math from grades 3-8 in the Atlanta Public School area. In high school, for students taking Algebra 1, only 14.5% scored proficient and 22.6% scored proficient or above. Schools and educational institutions are also increasingly relying on digital platforms for delivering education, which has created a demand for high-quality online learning programs that cater to the needs of scholars. Our extended learning opportunities through tutorials and other resources provide a much-needed solution to this demand. We collaborate with educators to ensure that its program aligns with the local curriculum and teaching standards. Additionally, there is a growing recognition of the importance of mathematics education in preparing scholars for future careers in STEM and related fields. Math N' More's program is designed to provide scholars with varying exceptional opportunities that are tailored to their individual needs and skill levels. By utilizing researched-based Universal Design for Learning, Positive Behavior Systems, and partnering with parents, this approach can help scholars who may be struggling with mathematics to build not only their confidence in the subject, but also develop essential skills needed while also challenging scholars who are more advanced in their mathematical abilities.
Math N More has a deep connection with its community and is founded by a diverse board of members motivated to bring change in the perspective of math in underrepresented and minority groups. Proven to be effective, Math N More uses the relationships built with scholars to tap into their potential as learners. As Stephen Richards Covey, American educator, author, business man, and motivational speaker, states “The deepest hunger of a human heart is to be understood, for understanding implicitly affirms, validates, recognizes and appreciates the intrinsic worth of another.” Through our programs such as Pi Day, and active community members on our board, we thoroughly understand our community needs and the scholars within our community. Our community recognizes our outreach incentives such as Pi Day as important. Each year, participants at Pi Day increase significantly due to the impact it has on scholars in the classroom. After the event scholars express interest in wanting to sharpen their math skills, requesting individualized math intervention/tutoring. Our foundation will be accountable to the parents/guardians of the children who enroll in our programs by regular performance reports. Standardized survey assessments will be conducted before and during the program to determine how effective our programs are and how they successfully affect the students who went through them.

Math N More collaborates with local educators and schools in order to ensure success for scholars within our programs. Currently our impact yield services to about 5 small business.
The community served by Math N' More primarily consists of K-12 and college students from traditionally underserved and minority communities in the Metro-Atlanta area. The stakeholders include students, their parents, educators, local school administrators, and community members. Students directly benefit from personalized math education, parents gain support in guiding their children's education, and educators and school administrators engage in collaboration to enhance the learning experience. Math N' More also interacts with local government officials and community leaders to ensure alignment with education goals and to foster a positive impact on academic outcomes in the area. Investors and donors who support Math N' More's mission also play a crucial role in shaping the organization's strategy and expansion plans.
Math N' More aims to actively engage with the local community through outreach initiatives that promote mathematics education and provide support to scholars and families; one major success is Pi Day, held annually in Piedmont Park in Atlanta, GA. This approach is driven by the community as it recognizes the importance of creating partnerships and building relationships with local stakeholders. Each year, participants at Pi Day increase significantly due to the impact it has on scholars in the classroom. During the first event in March 2022, 87% of scholars enjoyed the events and were ready to engage in mathematics in their school. From 2022 to 2023 there was a 280% increase in the number of scholars who participated in this event. After the event 56% of scholars expressed interest in wanting to sharpen their math skills, requesting individualized math intervention/tutoring.
Through our tutoring programs, we aim to definitively increase the graduation rate and college acceptance rate of scholars living in the Metro Atlantic Area. The goal is to ensure 90% of scholars enrolled in mathematics tutoring will matriculate successfully to the next level of math, as measured by Georgia Milestone and End of Course Exam. We believe that everyone can be good at math, as long as there are those that are willing to put in the time and effort to teach them in a way that is tailored towards the needs of those individuals that are struggling. As such, our program is able to offer those that are not sufficiently prepared an opportunity to not only learn, but also to discover their passion in this field. By enhancing their understanding of mathematics, we hope to be able to boost our scholars’ chances at not only graduating, but also acceptance into their dream school.
