Early Learning and Development Practice
EARLY LEARNING PRACTICE.
Children develop skills and cognitive thoughts just like a building project or constructing a project. They are built on that foundation with or on different stages of life.
In order to develop a child on different skills or thoughts, there are various method in which we can implore. (Instructional strategies/Teaching methods).
The following points at a glance to help children develop critical thinking and cognitive skills:
- Children go through different developmental stages and pick up different thinking skills at each stages.
- Children learn by connections called neural pathways.
- Practicing helps build skills, whereby the more neural paths or connections, the stronger they get.
- Convert learning to music, poems and sounds.
- Get good toys that help them interact and explore.
- Eating healthy helps the brain activities too.
The problem being solved is reducing the rate of poorly raised children from childhood to Adulthood. From statistics of children in the FCT Abuja, it is sad to note that over 65% of children are not well taught or given the appropriate upbringing, hence low performance in school, timid behaviors and low thinking capacity.
From the schools I and my team have been to, we have discovered that some children perform so low because they were not exposed to the right environment while growing up, while others were given little or no attention.
The solution I provide is to provide ways and patterns to help children of under 5 to help develop the necessary thinking and cognitive skills to achieve their full potential.
Serving the Municipal area Abuja (Nigeria). I and my Team have been to over 20 schools between last year and this year to instill the need of good upbringing, morals and leadership skills in students, teachers and the young ones.
Developing children under five years of age with critical thinking and cognitive skills to reach their full potentials require the following patterns will also help in their stage to stage development.
- Discover your children: This stage has to do with exploring and watching your child’s capabilities, placing the child under watch from growing age of months, discover their patterns, even when the cry and react to things and situations around them, discovering what they like, how they like to play, and how best they learn.
- Learning through senses: Children don’t know things about development at the early stages, it just happens naturally as they explore and learn. Children develop cognitive and critical thinking skills on their own at first stage with different senses which are sight, sound, touch, taste and smell and start to make connections. They start to roll and reach out for things and even by crawling and to walking.
- Learning through language: Ages 1-5 years, learning should take off as children learn more words at this stage, use more complex words, sentences and even read to them a little, this is a critical time to provide children a language rich environment.
- Learning through logic: Children these days develop so fast and learn logically faster by trying to discover, finding patterns. For example, when you hide something’s while playing with them, they always try to find out, making them curious ad and where those things are hidden and making sure they get at them or find them.
Some children learn faster by sound, pictures or gestures, know what fits in their activities at the early stage, as this will help in the brain development and thinking strategies.
This stage can be very tedious as all attention is given to the child to find out the best way to help them develop into their full potentials in terms of Thinking and Cognitive skills.
Allow them watch something’s you do, and how do them, while they are settled and focused on you, their brains are quick to capture moments at a tender stage because the billions of neurons and brain cells finds connections which help them figure out patterns and make connections stronger, and they will always try out what they see as they grow up.
- Enable parents and caregivers to support their children’s overall development
- Prepare children for primary school through exploration and early literacy skills
- Pilot
- New application of an existing technology
We have been carrying out other methods of child upbringing in our past projects, and more effective ways for the child to grow to adulthood and make a better leader with morals, this new innovation and solution have been tested on some occasions and it has been effective, in all the innovations and solutions we have put out and tested on the populace, we have not recorded any failed attempt, the only challenge we have always had is finance in reaching out to more people we need to reach out to.
We have implored the use of Formulas, pictures and physical gestures to further our solution, we are planning on deploying an app that will interactive and aid exploration for more learning in the future if we get funded enough to deploy that technology, for now we are making use of what is accessible to us.
- Indigenous Knowledge
- Behavioral Design
We expect our solution to address the problem because we have tested in on the populace and achieved some amount of positive results and feedback, we hope to do more and expand to each those who are really in need of our solution.

We are currently serving over 50 persons with the present solution, and our past project in which we tagged Catch Them Young have served over 400 people at the moment and still willing to do more.
We hope to serve more states from next year and in about five years, we should be serving over 2 countries.
We have series of projects we are yet to deploy:
We have emerging leaders round table: This is quarterly meeting of like minds to enable us project solutions to solve problems around us.
Catch Them Young: This is currently ongoing and can be replicated by expanding to communities and states and at large countries, it is a program for schools to teach them about leadership, morals and values of the society.
Share a Book: This is about book distribution, sharing books to individuals and making sure those we reach out to learn how to read, write and communicate effectively in the society.
Early Learning and Development Practice: This is for infants and nursing mothers, and we are looking forward to expanding this to other communities around us on the importance of child early developmental practice.
Social clubs and after school learning: This is an extension of the whole listed, whereby we get a venue and liaise with our already existing populace and inviting more to a quarterly program which will enable them learn more outside of school.
Finance: Logistics issues, we intend to gift out items anytime we meet the populace and some refreshments for them (For share a book, we need finance to get books for distribution), machine learning (Sometimes we have to use the Marker board instead of a projector, Printing of banners and flyers, and also creating awareness around the community about what we are doing and into.
Technical: Learning and teaching equipment.
No legal as we are registered.
Cultural: This is difference in languages as we would like to enlist someone who is diverse in the Nigerian language in our team and it will cost us.
We have been having monthly contributions from individual members of the team to fund each of the logistics problems, as well as other challenges and barriers, but we can not do much on our own.
We have a translator sometimes we are visiting schools or communities.
We make sure we rent leaning equipment whenever we are visiting schools or the community, as we do not have the financial capacity to buy ours now.
- Hybrid of for-profit and non-profit
3 Full time and 2 Part-time.
We have undergone series of training on this particular area of our practice, we have head some positions in the past as relating to what we do now, and we have the passion to carry on as long as we get support to reach out.

I would like to apply for AI Innovations Prizes, this would help my organization develop some applications for both mobile and computer use, in order to enable fast learning in the absence of teachers.
This will also enable my organisation develop hardware resources also to help the child adapt to the theoretical/practical solution.
The use of technology these days is very important when it comes to learning, and children learn more these days uses hardware and applications instead of the traditional way.
I am male.
My team will utilize the prize by first creating an offline data base, which will be automated to send out messages to our contacts about new developments and events, as we have been doing this manually.
Our solution utilizes data, as we make sure we take attendance for every school we visit, as to enable us keep in touch with the children and inform them of further learning classes.
We have been keeping data on Excel sheet, as we keep the database updated as we visit more schools.
