We have researched the use of the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in creating accessible tools and technologies for the teaching and learning of school-age children and adolescents of different abilities and special needs.
The research conducted revealed the specific learning needs of the learners, and it helped us to improve the accessibility feature of our product (Crystal Teachcomp).
Teachcomp helps school-age children and adolescents of different abilities and special needs gain technology skills that can help them thrive and become financially independent. As a result, we are in need of an evidence-based approach to achieving our mission.
(1) What is the effectiveness of Teachcomp in enhancing inclusive technology and computing education for school-age children and youth, especially those with diverse abilities and special needs?
(2) How will Teachcomp help school-age children and youths reduce poverty, especially in developing countries, by earning a living through digital skills?
- Formative research (e.g. usability studies; feasibility studies; case studies; user interviews; implementation studies; pre-post or multi-measure research; correlational studies)
Our desired output of the 12-week LEAP Project sprint is to gain tangible insights on how Teachcomp can be used to improve the digital literacy and skills of school-age children and adolescents, which will in turn help them become relevant to their society.
The outputs (data) we gather from this pilot will be used to improve Teachcomp, making it more accessible and affordable for children of all abilities, especially those in developing countries.
