Moi Social Learning Toddler (Toddler Moi)
Access to quality learning tools for no cost.
Moi toddler provides a free, self-guided learning game that introduces toddlers to concepts in every subject as each grows their own knowledge tree. Every kid discovers concepts as they play a reward-filled game that encourages them to keep learning. The Moi tree starts out small and with just one fruit, but as kids progress and validate their learning, their trees grow in direct relation to what they have learned. Kids are able to read along with a prerecorded voice whose speed they can control by tapping the screen.
Parents can use app progress as proof that their child is proficient in listening and concepts in every subject. The free availability of a quality learning tool that can replace the need for books or a traditional learning setting can change the lives of millions if scaled globally.
Access to quality learning tools for little or no cost for children 5 and under.
Parents in low income households around the world do not have the resources necessary to buy into quality learning programs for their kids. Only in my home country of Ecuador there's over 2 million kids that could benefit directly from this solution. Around the world, the number exceeds 600 Million.
Moi Toddler is designed to help parents make the most of their kids learning critical period. With our solution, every parent around the world will have access to a digital tool that will help their kids practice listening and reading along all while learning "how to learn" and about concepts in all subjects.
Parents will be able to use their kids activity within the app to validate their proficiency in these skills when entering (or applying for) a traditional school. Parents will be empowered because they will have a learning tool they can trust that allows them to participate intrinsically of their kids learning process. Using the Moi Parents app, they can establish goals, create tests, communicate and generate performance reports.
Children in low income households are limited to what's given to them for free by government, by their parents or what they find on t.v. and the internet. They have to purchase books or sort through dozens of articles in a search result. Many parents, quit trying and give up on their kids learning as a way for them to get ahead.
To this day, Moi Social Learning solutions have benefitted over 7000 kids in Ecuador and Chile. We have iterated our platform consistently to adapt it to their needs and to achieve better results. We are evaluating data and gathering testimonials all the time. Some of this work can be seen in https://growmoi.com/en/porque-moi
With Moi toddler, kids get empowered because they get to decide what they want to learn at an early age and the process of growing their trees shows them how the learning process works. Parents get empowered because they have a free-to-play, trustable learning tool that helps them provide the best opportunities to their kids.

We are using postgres for databases, rails for our backend, angular for our web client and react for our mobile apps. We leverage modern neuroscience for our U/X design.
The free availability of a quality learning tool that can replace the need for books or a traditional learning setting can change the lives of millions if scaled globally.
- Reduce barriers to healthy physical, mental, and emotional development for vulnerable populations
- Prepare children for primary school through exploration and early literacy skills

- New application of an existing technology
Moi toddler leverages the Moi Social Learning technology to generate an easy to use concept-tree growing game where kids can learn on their own for free. By implementing a read along voice and the ability to pause the progress of the reading with a simple tap, we are expanding the age of children that can benefit from learning how to learn through growing a Moi tree. There are no free-to-play learning solutions in the market with full curricular coverage and the game experience that Moi generates is unmatched. Of course, parents will also be able to use the Moi parent app to follow along in their kids development. This platform will be available for $24.99 per year.
The Moi platform organizes data in a tree graph that is converted into a game interface in our web and mobile frontends. The Moi tree reveals itself progressively, in direct response to the kids' interaction with the app. In a group or classroom setting, all kids start out with the same tree, but after 10-20 minutes, each tree looks unique.
The design of the tree is derived from modern neuroscience. It works because we are giving kids a way to make decisions regarding what they learn and to discover concepts on their own terms and at their own pace. They can immediately validate, their achievements and are rewarded within the game and also in the real world.
By giving parents an easy to use progress tracking app, we can keep our learning solution free. The parents app makes it simple for parents to participate in their kids individual learning process. Parents can establish rewards, create challenges and receive instant notifications when their kids complete achievements. The parents platform provides comprehensive reports that help them identify cognitive traits that should be stimulated for further development.

Modern neuroscience shows how important having a nurturing environment that fosters learning is for making the most of kids' learning critical period.
For parents of low income households, this can be an impossible challenge.
To solve this problem, Moi toddler generates a learning environment that helps kids and parents transcend their socioeconomic condition because it makes available for them a high quality learning tool that's been designed specifically for their needs. The children that have learned with our app, become teachers themselves, sharing their learning with younger friends and siblings and even their parents.

The idea that the brain is a muscle that grows with excercise is not just a metaphor. Neuronal growth is use it or lose it; with Moi toddler, we can make sure that a kid's critical period never goes to waste.

To date: 9500
1 year: 125000 (through launch of mobile apps and English support)
5 years: 80 Million
We are focused on growing our business to be able to generate more social change. We are developing commercial platforms for private businesses inlcuding a Moi tree for financial education and one for soft skills.
We are expanding our operations internationally (with our English version) to Kenya and hopefully soon across the English speaking world.
We would like to have support for every language where there's a need for our platform.
In the next five years, we will continue to iterate, improving the UX consistently, implementing A.I. for smarter reports, content recommendations and content crawling. We will launch in many platforms including Nintendo.
Every country has specific challenges related to local culture that need to be resolved on a case by case basis.
We will need additional funding to continue to grow, but we are confident our platform will not have trouble finding cash when needed as we've raised a significant amount for Moi Social Learning to this day (not Moi Toddler).
We will adapt our content to language and culture, as our platform makes it easy and cost effective. We will grow our business in a sustainable way partering up with local education organizations that are already trying to solve this problem but that don't have the technology.
There will be a lot of competition in the coming years from new technology providers and from big players entering the market through M & A. We will develop partnerships with large companies that can take our products visibility and distribution to the next level.
We will become the learning support tool of choice for young kids worldwide.
We are already working with local partners in Chile and Kenya to distribute our platform widely in those countries. We expect to be able to partner with organizations or individuals commited to helping their communities learn better.
We will develop relationships with content partners that can help us adapt our content to each country where this is necessary.
We will secure private investment for global expansion and software iteration by leveraging our network of supporters that include Start-Up Chile, the Varkey Foundation, SENESCYT (Ecuador), Seedstars and more.
- For-Profit
The Moi Toddler team is part of the Moi Social Learning organization. Moi Toddler will be leveraging Moi Social Learning technology.

Our track record shows our commitment to solving this issue. We can leverage low development costs to do a lot with no a lot of resources. We are from a place where this problem is evident in every day life, just going to the store you see so many kids and families that need this solution. We have trascended the barriers of our small country and have international partners interested in our success.
Personally, I experienced first hand the effects of not having stimulating learning content available all the time and how it leads to low motivation to learn. I also know the effect that being able to leverage technology to fulfill that need has, and this is why it's so important for me to share this ability with every kid that needs a learning opprtunity.
We are working with Fundación Niños con Futuro and Fundación Nobis in Ecuador to create higher quality learning experiences for all. Children in low income communities are receiving the benefits of Moi Social Learning products and support. We have begun using it to identify children who will earn scholarships for great local schools.
We've partnered with Banco Pacífico to create a Moi tree specifically for Financial Education.
We partnered with Haedus (Chile) for the creation of a soft skills Moi tree
In this moment, kids can play our applications for free. The way we make money is we sell access to our parents & teachers app that enables them to generate one-click individual & group reports, establish goals and rewards, communicate through the app, receive progress notifications and create individual & multiplayer tests. We sell this access directly on our website, but mainly direct to schools, districts, NGO's.
This way, every kid gets access for no cost and can receive the benefits of our solution without a pay wall. As our sales increase, the quality of the experience we can provide will continue to grow.
Moi Social Learning projects have received several grants already. We are confident we will continue to have success fundraising as we continue to grow our impact. We are already applying to some of these grants.
We will also be seeking private funding to take our production capacities to the next level. We have the costs of the next level version of our platform and are sure it will have significantly better results than our current version, as it will employ a game engine and A.I. for smart virtual tutoring & smart reports.
We have been successful selling our technology to corporate clients that need to socialize their content while generating impact data for a low cost. We believe we will continue to develop partnerships with corporate clients that want to get into the education space and can leverage our technology to do so.
As a budding tech company from Ecuador, working together with MIT Solve will mean a new level of exposure & validation. We know that by becoming solvers, we can increase the visibility of the issue we are solving and our solution for it.
To accomplish this, we are hope to leverage the solve education network and solve peers for feedback and future iteration of our solutions. By becoming solvers, we'll be able to meet people that know how to scale our solution to maximize it's impact. We are ready to communicate to the world the importance of solving the challenge of access to quality learning opportunities for kids 5 and under.
Of course, we would love to have access to solve's brain trusts to learn how to better position ourselves for the next step in the growth and expansion of our solution. With your help, we can make sure that every kid around the world, has a quality learning experience, regardless of their socioeconomic condition.

We have been working on a smart reports A.I. implementation that reviews user data against previously identified patterns to send "intelligent" progress reports that suggest new contents or courses for their children. By matching developmental traits, we can detect when a kid is progressing faster than the average for his or her age and present this information so the parent or teacher can choose from suggested courses of action of complimentary material like second language classes. Likewise our app would be able to identify when a child is performing below average levels and suggest a possible course of action or free materials for the parent to supplement their kids' learning process.
We want to implement a smart assistant or virtual tutor that leverages our content to ask questions and guide the kid on their learning process. It would also be great to be able to leverage voice recognition to validate toddler reading.
We also want to use A.I. for content crawling, so that we can create a self populating learning database from which our learning apps can feed. This would help reduce the dependancy on human content writers, curators and moderators.
